We visited Ochi Sushi & Ramen on a Thursday around 5/6pm and the establishment was practically empty besides 2 other patrons at the bar. Location is great, there were able 2 employees working the front. Not really sociable with us but very chatty with each other. Pricing is a bit on the higher end for the quality for sure, out of 7 dishes between a group of 4 and 2 were for sure pre-made items only 2 dishes were ok. As for the food itself, I can say it's more on a "cleaner" side vs the extra flavor and oily texture you'd get from a fast food chain. The ramen broth was subtle, the noodle perfect, but the flavor wasn't there. The Chef special roll was way over priced for what you get, especially only having 1 piece being the best out of the "assorted" fish. The hibachi wasn't good in my opinion, good portion though. Would not order that again. The chicken teriyaki flavor was great, chicken texture was more like grilled on a pan vs over flame. Loved the veggies though. The gyoza and takoyaki were good as well as the strawberry mochi icecream. Wish they were more friendly though, making us feel like we were inconvenient for them was a major turn off. read more

Ochi is an excellent example of a high quality, local Japanese restaurant and bar. It's not comparable to authentic Tokyo, NY, LA, or Boston, so it doesn't warrant 5 stars globally, but it does deserve 5-stars for a dependable, flavorful suburban Japanese eatery. The food quality is above average, the execution is high, and the service is attentive. The space is clean and efficient, but lacks warmth. We visited the day after a large 1-2 foot snowstorm, and Ochi was one of the only restaurants open in town. I've eaten at Ochi 4x since it opened in 2023, although there's a lot more to explore on its expansive and prolific menu. On this visit, we tried a Tuna Poke Bowl, a Salmon Pome Bowl, a Katsu Ramen, a Mango Salad, and a Mochi desert. Regarding the Tuna Poke Bowl, Ochi took the liberty of substituting more expensive fatty tuna (Toro), for regular tuna (Maguro), a generous and appreciated gift as a thanks for dining on a very slow night due to the storm. Hence, I would recommend everything we tried: the Mango Salad, any of the Sushi, Sashimi and Maki choices, the Poke bowls and Ramen (especially the Spicy Miso Ramen, the chicken Katsu Ramen, and any of the traditional pork or beef Ramen choices). Delicious ramen in a cute and casual spot. The tonkatsu broth was hearty and rich with a great bounce to the noodles. The chashu pork was soo tender, soft, and well cooked. Sometimes the pork tends to be tough but that was not the case at all. The miso broth was tasty but a little on the saltier side. The spicy calamari was very good as well. We didn't know what to expect as there weren't a lot of photos but the sauces were great with it. Will be back to try the sushi! read more

Take out orders were fulfilling much faster than the few tables in the restaurant so we waited a while for the food. I assume they have higher priority so don't get hit with fees from Uber. 1. Spicy tonkostsu ramen was pretty good but not that spicy 3.Chicken teriyaki is a bit on the pricey side but at least it's a pretty big portion Waitress took our order and did not write anything down so ended up forgetting my drink. We also tried the spicy miso ramen and the chicken katsu ramen. Soups came with several toppings: bamboo shoots, beansprouts, half soft boiled egg, and corn. We went here for the first time a few days ago. It was a nice little spot, some parking in a few town lots. The inside is decent, but a bit cold. There is only one bathroom in total. The service was ok, things took a long time. For starters we tried the Calamari, it was way overcooked, and expensive for what you got. I wouldn't order it again. We had a Chicken Yakiudon, the chicken felt off in texture, and lacked flavor. We wouldn't order that again. We ordered a good bit of sushi, the pieces of fish were large, but the flavor was lacking. The rice was bland and didn't have the typical flavoring of good sushi rice. Additionally, a good sushi place puts a little wasabi on each piece, none of these had any. The spicy tuna roll we ordered was lacking flavor, and was not spicy at all. This was supposed to be hand roll, if I remember from the menu, and it didn't come out as such. We ordered a good bit of Sushi, and when they brought it, it was missing quite a bit of the order. We just figured there had been a mistake, we ate what we had, and as we were wrapping up and going to leave, the second tray of sushi came, not well paced at all. They also didn't tell us that the rest was coming, the server just disappeared a number of times too. We don't go out often, and this place isn't a place that we will return too again, there are other Sushi restaurants close by, that offer a much better experience for a similar (possibly cheaper) price. read more

Had a great experience with my family here, coming in for lunch on a Friday. We had a spread of ramen, chicken wings, and some nigiri. Everyone enjoyed their meals and the nigiri tasted very fresh. This is my fifth or sixth time dining at Uchi. Each time I have dined in or ordered to-go, the service has always been quick. Today my sisters and I ordered the soft shell crab and crab Rangoon for appetizers which were delicious. Both were lightly fried. The soft shell crab was accompanied by a bed of lettuce. My sister ordered the hibachi shrimp fried rice that we both could not stop eating because it was that good. It had medium sized shrimp and a vegetable medley and was lightly season, not too salty or soaked in soy sauce like at other places. Our maki rolls were also very fresh and beautifully plated! I requested gluten free soy sauce to eat with my rolls in addition to eel sauce. The Lobster maki is always delicious and the chefs do not skimp on the shellfish. The other rolls were well cooked and rolled as well! The only pitfall for us were the drinks, we had the mango seltzer, Ramune, and lychee seltzer and each of the drinks were just alright. My ramen came, warm, yet the shrimp still had the tails on and still had the poop as well, not only that but we ordered Sushi, Tuna Maki. The tuna came out and still had tiny, ice chunks in it, made it un-enjoyable. And after it all, our server left us there for almost 45 minutes waiting as she continued to talk, and chat. Noodle was over boiled, soup was not well prepared, other ingredients were not good either. The bbq pork over ramen noodles tasted reasonable but slices were paper thin. Interestingly I found holes on paper packages of chopsticks. All chopstick packages we had on our table had holes. What does this mean? Recycling wood chopsticks? Why don't they use washable chopsticks then? (We did not have a chance to try other menu so this review is specific to miso ramen and spicy miso ramen) read more

After a movie I stopped by Uchi Sushi with a friend recently to enjoy some sushi, sake, and a lengthy discussion of the movie we had just seen. The service was excellent, we loved the Spicy Combo and the Kiss the Fire Maki, sipped on our sake, and got thoroughly lost in our conversation. A big shoutout to the crew! My friend and I completely lost track of time and stayed way past closing time, and our server and the chef waited so patiently for us to finally leave so that they finally could close up. I ordered the chicken teriyaki bento box. it came with broccoli, carrots, Napa cabbage, 3 California rolls, rice, and two large crab Rangoon, accompanied by a side salad with dressing on the side. The chicken was thinly sliced and very juicy. Broccoli was steamed to perfection, the rice was perfectly cooked and the California rolls were large and the sushi rice was the perfect consistency. Bamboo in Dedham is also amazing but this new spot might have to take the trophy all of the sushi I had was absolutely amazing and fresh. Sat at the bar which is 7 seats and the sushi chef was nearby making all of the sushi in sight. Super friendly staff and even the chef offered a complimentary delicious nigiri! We almost didn't try Uchi because while it was at 5 stars, it still only had 3 reviews. That would've been a huge mistake! Unfortunately our experience with a party tray of sushi was meh. While admittedly sushi is not best enjoyed delivered, it was quite underwhelming in all respects - not fresh fish, rice overdone, rolls coming loose. The tempura roll was the most decent of all.
