Awesome arcade whether you're taking the kids out, having a night out with the homies or going out on a date! Dorky's is located across the street from The Forum & Keys on Main (both amazing spots) in Tacoma. It has pinball machines for days, air hockey, claw machines and them classic games. Did I mention they have pizza? And a bar?! It's lit! Beer + games = good times! They check IDs after 9pm so adults only at this point. It gets packed on weekends but not too packed. It might have been ok years ago, but I made the mistake taking my grandsons today for some fun. It was dirty, about 25% of the machines didn't work, the upstairs that supposedly has more games was closed off. The main room downstairs was small and dirty. I dropped my purse & picked it up. It was sticky and I had to wash it.The men's room was filthy - one toilet plugged and one with a shower curtain instead of a door. It smelled all the way out into the main part of the arcade. There was 7 family members of all ages and yes even I loved the pin ball games and Space Invaders!!! Lots of pin ball machines and older games, all require a quarter to a dollar depending on the game. And did o say that are just tons of fun! Candy Crane that cost 50 cents and I am no pro and scored candy everytime. Old fashioned gum-ball machines that had cool Disney keychains.......we may have bought a few . All in all between us playing arcade games, playing the candy crane and key chain machine I think we spent $50 for 7 people and about an hour of fun. Unclean eating table Rude employees Owner was Not wearing his own mask... The owner was incredibly rude and cursed at myself and my associates. He openly allowed people to war their masks, not saying anything. Then walked beyond others and told us to wear our masks or get the H-LL out. Note, we were kind and respectful, he was not. Game selection was pretty ok, prices on some were a bit high. One pinball machine kept taking my nephew's money but wouldn't load the balls up. Employees refused a refund and never even marked the game as non-functional.. My guess for the zero refund is because he is Latino. We were told in a phone call that the super racist owner wasn't there anymore and that they were trying to distance themselves from him ever being there. That was a lie, as he was there the entire time, playing pinball in between whatever else it was he was doing. He was also staring at my Latino family members the entire time in a super uncomfortable way. For the racist alone, this place gets 1 star and we will not be back. I like that the games here are a good combination of retro and modern - some other Barcades are only old games that I'm terrible at. Tons of games, fun ambiance, good drinks. The food there is amazing, they have vegan friendly options, and also meat options! Some of there beers are is also vegan friendly. But the one bartender there she had her chin to her chest looking on her phone and completely ignored me. Until a coworker there that was standing in the back. It looked like she was on her break. until you say something. Woman with braids. Other times I have came in and they were always two or three girls talking back-and-forth to each other. They would apologize and say I'm sorry for ignoring you. But I was still upset that they weren't ready to give me service. Like most bartenders would. Especially how slow this business is. I have been there and noticed a few games are gone. Which sucks but I can't control that. Their tables are dirty which they can control. I have only seen one person constantly cleaning everything every time I come in. And she is a short woman. So she is very hard to miss... Their beer selection has turned to crap. I will not go there if you want to get drunk. Because the strongest drink cost about $10 or more. This place is fun if you want to play video games and then go across the street and get drunk and then go back-and-forth. Their beer selection is trash because they don't know how to describe their beers very well. Even though they all say that they test out the beers at the end of the night. Or early in the day when they get their first shipment in. There is one girl that is there who is clearly drunk all the time or (is buzzed at least.) I have heard from other customers that she is like this half of the time. The weekends; ...... The food there is usually custom-made by the owner herself on the weekends. But it depends on how it goes because she either adds way too much salt or way too little salt. So either taste like a super southern type food or super bland! There are taco Tuesdays are amazing though. But ever since the one girl left nobody makes tacos as crispy as she did. And I would always go there for her. I am really bummed out she's not there anymore. I wish people would make the tacos and the seasoned nuggets the way she did. She also notified me that she added her own spices of mixture to them. Dorky's has new as well as old school games at only a slightly higher price than I remember. That's understanding because 1. it's a business and 2. inflation. Dorky's Barcade! (at least that's what we call it) brings me back to my childhood days spent in arcades very similar to this one. Except this isn't the arcade of your childhood, at least not mine. This one blows them all out of the water. Why? Because they also have pizza, grilled cheese, dessert pizzas, candy, sodas, happy hour all day Sunday and adult beverages of the canned or bottled kind. This is truly a playground for both children and grown adult children alike. Dorky's mostly has the older arcade games and pinball machines, sprinkled with some newer ones here and there. But no matter what generation you hail from, these timeless games will have you grinning from ear to ear. During the day, the arcade is open to all ages. And with that comes great responsibility. I had the pleasure of meeting and hanging out with one of the owners during my most recent trip and witnessed first hand how proactive they are in keeping people's language in check. They also do frequent sweeps of the arcade to make sure all kids are accompanied by an adult and also reinforce to adults with beverages that if they are left unattended, they will be dumped out. The bathrooms were clean, and required a key from the front desk for added security. The fountain drinks come with free refills. They make their own pizzas made to order on site, and carry a very wide variety of adult beverages. They do have an on-site change maker, but don't have an ATM on-site. While there are numerous ATMs in downtown Tacoma, Dorkys will allow you to add cash back on card purchases for a small convenience fee. They also do birthday parties! Thought we would check this place out and let the boys play for a little while walked in my son had to readjust his face mask and the owner immediately started yelling that it needed to be up over his nose which he was working on doing. He put it up over his nose we let it go and kept walking they started playing I went out front to smoke a cigarette pulled it out of my pack was walking away and he starts yelling at me that I can't smoke there I said I am not smoking here i haven't even lit it I'm getting ready to walk 25 feet away. He went inside with an attitude and came back out yelling at me telling me that he was the owner of the building and that I needed to go across the street if I want to smoke. Dorky's is fun! I tried to think of a kid friendly place to go yesterday, where we could also eat, and this is where we ended up. I haven't been here in years and this was an excellent choice. The pizza is inexpensive and pretty good, the games are awesome and 50 cents or less, the staff is super friendly, and they have a huge selection of bottled/canned cider and beer. What more could you ask for?! My 6-year-old daughter had a great time (they have little stools for tall games) and almost beat me at air hockey! I had an equally great time. Came to the bar to meet with some friends. Door guy told us if we leave with drinks outside the bar that we would not be let back in. Ok, duh. Anyway, didn't have any drinks - played a few games on the sticky machines. This place could be better with a little TLC for the games that are actually in service. Also prices I think are fair compared to the other arcades in bigger cities. Also, you use quarters! Better than having to buy tokens you can't use anywhere else. As we were leaving, door guy snarls and asks if I'm hiding drinks in my jacket... I said no I'm cold. It was as if he was waiting for me to prove to him I don't by opening my jacket. No I don't have to prove anything to you - there are plenty of drunks stumbling around the corner, go attend to someone else that needs you. Not that it matters, but won't be returning. I had read the previous reviews that weren't so good, but decided to check this place out anyways. The first few times were good experiences, but the last time was terrible. One of the employees was extremely rude. We were about to play air hockey and I didn't realize he was wiping down the table, I went to put the dollar in and saw so I stopped and backed away, but he instantly glared at me. What happened? This place used to be well run and reasonably priced. Now every fifth game is broken, eats your cash, and doesn't work. 20% of my coins went to games went to games that I only later found out were broken, so to say I'm really disappointed is an understatement. It's progressively gotten worse and worse but today was the day I said no more. I recently got married and planned to send my guests over there while we were doing photography, and then go out for dinner. Due to it being Easter, restaurants were not able to accommodate a party of 16. I called Dorky's the day before to check and see if they could accommodate us, since we were in a pinch. After conferring with the owner, the bartender said they would be happy to reserve tables for us. My party arrived the next day, and everything was as expected. When we arrived, we were greeted by the owner. She said she thought doing a wedding reception there was the coolest idea she'd ever heard of and wanted to offer us a free pizza to say congrats. We were really stoked (and starving), as honestly, we were just glad to have a place to hang out after the wedding. The fares here are basically pizza and beer/soda. But it's a barcade, so what more can you really ask for? The pizza was actually really good and toppings were quality. They come in a personal size or larger sizes to share. Beer is by the bottle, but their selection and pricing was excellent! My family is pretty snobby when it comes to beer, and they all were impressed by the offerings. Lots of value here. The games brought me right back to my childhood. They had everything from Mortal Kombat, Street Fighter, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles to Rush and Cruis'n. They had plenty of newer games as well. What really set it apart was pricing. The old games that were 25¢ plays back in the day were still 25¢! The newer, obviously more expensive, games were still in the 50¢ to $1 range. I've gotta say, they made some fans. The place is fun, and it's right downtown and close to the night life. You can go with friends or take your kids, and it's not going to break the bank. Great place for kids, ok place for adults. It's a typical arcade setting; everything is slightly rundown, sticky and a bit grimy. One adult perk is the "bar", where you can get bottled or canned beer, wine or cider. However, it was a lot of fun! Most games were a quarter, fifty cents while newer or more interactive games are a dollar per player. If in Tacoma again and I needed to kill some time, I'd come back to play the Jurassic Park game for sure! read more

I've been going to Dorky's since 2012. We've always had a good time and they had great games. Anyways, this time I was in line to order a pizza. A white drunk lady was being rude to a few of the black workers in the kitchen. I mind my own business and order a pizza and they must've assumed I was with the crazy lady because after waiting an hour for my pizza I asked about it and they were mad. I asked for a refund and walked out after I seen the cook drop a rolling pin making the dough. She didn't wash it!!! How. Disgusting. Is. That. Do not order food here. EVER. The arcade itself is fun, but the employees need some work. My friends and I stayed until closing time which was a huge mistake. They gave one warning about closing the bar only 30 minutes before closing. Then as soon as the clock hit 2am, the employees all but manhandled us out the door. They were making incredibly rude and snide remarks the whole time. They barely let me get my bag off the table before shooing us out of the door. I checked the time once we were outside. We were in town for a Bob Seger concert. The concert was postponed, so we went here instead. The food menu is fairly limited to mostly pizza, but the pizza we did get was pretty damn tasty, and loaded with toppings. The cider/beer selection was quite large and varied in tastes. Of course, the real attraction is the selection of video games. They have a decent range of games, from some really OGs like Burger Time to Street Fighter II, and most are a quarter. I've only been here once before, prior to taking my son. After many circular discussions about whether he would enjoy this place or not, I finally decided to just TAKE him here. His argument? Son: "Mom, Dorky's is for dorks." Me: "No it's not honey. That's just the name." Son: "And why do you think they named it that, mom? Duh." Me: "Baby, it's super fun. Trust me." Upon finishing a few slices, he asks if he can scope the place out. He comments about the touch screen "Fruit Ninja" game. He notes "Guitar Hero". He flips over "Mario Bro's" (I tell him that's been around since I was a kid). We play a few multi-player games. Oh my goodness, what's this: Big brace-faced smiles?? It must be a front. He can't possibly be enjoying himself! I go to refill our drinks, and the next thing I know he's made not one, but three friends. They are happily running around, giggling, challenging each other to various games. The old lady left in the dust! But the topper of the whole night was when we were getting ready to leave. He actually BEGGED me if we could stay. W_o_w. And here I thought all this time Dorky's Barcade was just for dorks... Maybe mom knows something after all, huh? I had my son's 14th birthday party here...it was a huge success!! The staff was incredibly helpful, courteous and absolutely awesome!!! I also experienced the most incredible act of customer service. It was coming to birthday cake time and I realized I forgot the candles. The staff member (also the MC) was announcing it was now bday cake time...I told him I forgot the candles. I was just going to cut the cake and serve because all those boys cared about was playing video games! What I didn't realize was the MC ran out to the corner store and bought some bday candles.
