I happened to stop by during a slow time, so I had the place to myself, which made for a relaxing visit. I ordered a beer and a slice of pepperoni pizza, and my total came to just $13.37 including the tip. The pizza isn't going to be the best slice you've ever had, but for only $6, it's surprisingly good and an excellent value. When you combine that with the outstanding customer service, it's an easy place to recommend. Since it was my first visit, I wasn't familiar with how everything worked, but the staff was patient, helpful, and made me feel welcome. I don't come by this brewery as much as I could. It's kind of nestled in a corner and can get forgotten. But each time Steve and I do make it here we enjoy our visits. The latest two beers that I have gotten from Herr is their Mexican Lager. It's okay but I am kind of a snob with these lagers and felt like it was fair. I also got their Japanese Rice Lager which I have had before, the Mukai Lager. Kind of the same story here as the Mexican Lager. Other than our group, there were only two tables, and they had their food. I ordered my food to go, as I didn't plan to eat it all while there. I received my food at 1:45!!!!! Yes! The Helles was delicious. The stout as well. The food is taking forever. If I was just reviewing the beer, I'd give them five stars. I waited on writing this review for some time and gave this place several visits before writing it. The pizza is okay. Every time I've been in it takes a long while for much of anything. I don't know if my timing is bad. I'd feel different if it knocked my socks off or something, but it did not. Also, the estimates on how long the food would take were really off each time. So I believe they've got kitchen issues of some form or another. I guess I'd say call ahead if you're getting food. I'll say again that the beer is good. The parking is bad. We're always on the hunt for good pizza in the South End. And Camp Colvos is one of them! Placed a phone order and picked up pizza. We ordered half Bulgogi and half Tuscan Chicken of the 18" pizza. Lots of unique flavored pizzas, which piqued our interest. We could tell that the dough and ingredients were fresh and pizza was very tasty and flavorful. The bulgogi pizza had kimchi, onions and cilantro (but didn't see that on pizza), my only complaint was that the meat chunks were not many big chunks, I feel like these could be cut up more and spread throughout pizza for more bites with meat on it, but the unique pizza combo was delicious. The Tuscan Chicken had broccolini, bacon and sun dried tomatoes and it was equally as bold flavors. Would recommend for high quality pizza, with high quality flavors. As I was eating the pizza I kept saying to my husband that the crust has such an interesting texture & flavor (not in a good way) but I couldn't put my finger on what it was, then throughout the dinner he said FREEZER PIZZA - & yup that was it. The dough had a freezer pizza taste maybe it was made ahead & frozen - maybe it didn't have that New York taste because we got the 12" instead of just slices... I'm going to come back & try out the single slices & see if that's any better but I was pretty bummed that this did not live up to the hype. I try and stop by this place every-time I visit Tacoma. Great service and recommendation's from the front of the house as they will let you try the different draft beers they have. The lines are clean and the beer they make does not suck. That Seastack ipa was very tasty. I saw they made cocktails as well but didn't try one. Soft drinks and Non-alcoholic options available as it's family friendly. Grab a pie and hang with your buds and it'll be a great time. I've been coming here for a while now and would never have any issue with the service or food. But last night, my friend and I came in and got 1 of each of their slices and 2 drinks. I ordered a cocktail, and my friend got a beer, which he got right away after he paid at the front counter. Since my cocktail needed to be made, I went ahead and sat down. The bartender walks over to the table and says she spilled a little and told me next time I should have gotten it from her at the front and walked off. Ugh, what?! Excuse me, I didn't hear you call our order name so how was I supposed to know that's my drink and after we paid you didn't tell me to just stand there and wait for my drink. That bartender was rude, I didn't wanna say something back cause I'm not that type of person unless you really disrespected me. So I let it go. The pizza also I feel like has gone downhill since when they first opened. The slices are smaller, and there were barely any toppings on our fancy meat pizza. I hope they were just having a bad night on the pizza cause the pizza were really dry like it was sitting out for a long time, so it no longer seemed fresh. I love the slices here. Toppings are excellent, crust is insanely good!! The chill ambiance. Good music and super friendly staff. I always enjoy their beers on tap & fancy cocktails. In the summer there's amazing patio seating on the side of their building. Order and pay at the bar. They'll bring out your pizza. I came by Camp Colvos Brewing on a Sunday afternoon for lunch and a beer. There is plenty of seating for large groups both inside the building and on the patio. While the sun was shining, it was still pretty chilly, so I opted to sit inside at the bar. Both bartenders were super nice and gave me some insights into Tacoma as I was visiting the city. I liked the Kolsch beer. It was light and very drinkable. Pizza is available by the slice and in a smaller pizza (mezzo) and a larger size. I recommend the pepperoni pizza. They seem to do a pretty good to-go business as many people came in to pick up pies from counter in the back. There are also some sandwiches and salads on the menu. read more

I've been here several times with varying experiences. My first couple visits were when they were newly opened. Needless to say, there was a continuous line at the register where everyone goes to order/pay before sitting down. Unfortunately, there's only one register which makes the wait quite long (20 min+) to get a beer and order a slice of pizza. The pizza is freshly made in-house. However this means that there can be an additional wait of 20min+ if you are unlucky and they run out of your preferred flavor when you order. As you may have guessed, I was also an unlucky patron for more than one of my visits. Pizza is NY style with thin crust and flavor is just ok for me--I've had better elsewhere. They normally have a cheese, meat, and veggie option. I think this could be avoided in the future with better planning on the kitchen's part. There is patio seating which is usually quite full with people and dogs, and indoor long tables for several groups to share. There are also a handful of small tables. You are expected to bus your own table. During my later visits, they've added cocktails in addition to beer! I tried their seasonal apple cocktail and I do declare it wasn't too shabby for a beer place. Of note I had one particular experience where I waited almost 90 minutes for my slice of pizza. There was apparently a large party order for takeout so they ran out of pizzas to serve. Then they forgot my order when the pizzas finally started rolling out after an hour of waiting. They did make up for this though, with an extra slice and an extra drink on the house. In the future I think this is an issue that needs to be addressed so it doesn't happen again. In summary, decent local pizza/beer if you aren't in a rush. read more
