One damaged refrigerator and the second one needed service the first day it was installed. The salesman laughed when I want to return the refrigerator. I asked him to have his supervisor to contact me. I am still waiting on a call. Stay clear of this company. Very poor customer service. The delivery driver was no better. My wife and I went to your store the week of Nov 12,2015 to look at cooktops. We talked with salesman regarding options to replace existing cooktop. Few options but he printed out one that would most likely work. Sales needed info/pictures from existing cooktop so they could arrange for install team to come to our house to make sure new unit would work. We sent what was needed on Nov 17th. We did not hear back from DA so we contacted the salesperson who acted surprised. He said he would reach out to installers again. Waited over 1 week and again never heard back. I called him again in approximately 2 weeks (12/1/25).He again acted surprised and said he will email the installers again. I suggested he call them since emails have not worked. Keep in mind that the salesperson never reached out to us. We had to reach out to him which showed a lack of caring/professionalism. On our visit to DA the week of Nov 12 we said our goal was to have a new cooktop by Christmas since we were hosting 20 people. Salesman said that should not be a problem. On 12/6 we had not heard from the installers nor salesperson. Our feeling was if this is the type of service Dormont Appliance provides, we should try a different company that would care about their customers. Since contacting Don's Appliance they placed our order and it has been delivered. We never told Dormont that we were no longer interested just to see if we would ever hear from them. Stopped in Dormont Appliances after having looked at under the counter refrigerators online. I saw one that looked reasonable but I really wanted to see it in person. The person at the desk, instead showed me a picture of it online and said they didn't have one to show me in the store and that they were the only store that sold that brand. I said Don's Appliances sold the same brand and the man said "then go to Don's Appliances." Purchased GE Monogram appliances for a kitchen renovation - could not be more disappointed with both the appliance quality (still warranty repairs outstanding 6+ months after delivery) and Dormont's service. Delivery was well below expectations - the team only showed up with part of the order on the first attempt, did not deliver fridge and didn't have enough manpower to move range. On second attempt, fridge was delivered but left boxed. Days later, we discovered the fridge was damaged in the warehouse (something very heavy dropped on top of). Dormont could only pickup the damaged fridge 5-wks after that and replacement fridge was 3 months out for GE delivery. Dormont would not schedule delivery of replacement until new fridge was in the Dormont warehouse, no exceptions made because they had "big builder projects taking all the delivery spots". All-in-all resulted in over a 5-month delay to my 2-month renovation project. On top of this, two other pieces are faulty. The range hood motor seized within 2-wks of being in use and the range griddle does not keep temperature, e.g. goes cold half way through a cook. Dormont contracted with Bridgeville appliance to troubleshoot & repair. Took 6-wks to get on Bridgeville's schedule for first visit, 3-wks for replacement parts and now 4-wks for them to schedule a return visit for actual repair. I had no say in the repair company and worry about the quality of their workmanship, aside from their timeliness. I worked with Wayne at Dormont appliance. He had very little sense of urgency and did the minimum when I asked him to help expedite across the many issues we had. Required multiple calls and follow-ups. Hands-down the worst customer service I have experienced from a retail store in many years. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND. read more

I am familiar with this business since my parents were customers way back in the day. When my wife and I needed a refrigerator give years ago they were great....when we needed a stove and washer and dryer they were very helpful ...good price installation etc....and that was five years ago. I don't know what happened ...maybe new ownership...COVID etc but we bought a GE fridge ...because we needed a new one. We were told it would have to be ordered and might be available in three weeks. If it came sooner then they would let us know. It did not When it did they scheduled a day to bring it then refused to install it because they looked at the shut off under the sink and after trying to turn it off said it was broken and advised us to call a plumber then offered the name of one of their coworkers who might be able to fix it. I called and left him a message They took the fridge back to the store . When I heard nothing from their coworker I called a plumber who came out the next day and fixed it in minutes I called Dormont Appliances and was told it might be another week . When I asked to speak to a manager I did not get a callback right away and when I did I complained about the whole experience suggesting customer loyalty etc. They thanked us but offered nothing except they would send it when they could. In fairness, our sales person Tom called and suggested he would try to get us in sooner. The manager then called and offered a day that was sooner then we expected. We were happy but we had to pay another delivery charge . We crossed our fingers hoping they could deliver it without a hitch They did In fairness, again ..I think this is an example of what has happened locally and nationally to businesses. A time honored business your parents swore by just can't compete with the bigger stores tand chains that might charge less and cut a lot of corners. We have lived in our home thirty years. We have had appliances and repairs etc. Both bg could beat the older repairman and business owners who put customer loyalty and satisfaction First. They had staff who took great pride in their work and shared their vision. Now staff are paid less and there are fewer of them. The business your parents loved might still exist but it's not going to offer you the same experience . You have to shop around and compare prices and ask yourself what you can accept or not to get the product you want. Customer loyalty may not be part of that but it's not the end of the world. read more

The only place I will go for appliances! I purchased my kitchen appliances here and was nervous but I have never had an easier shopping experience. The small staff is extremely knowledgeable and helpful I had a good idea of what I wanted but thanks to their large floor display found things I wasn't able to see at large chain stores and purchase those. Prices were better than big box stores and delivery was cheaper and easier. When you call the store they know who you are! Huge benefit of a small Business. They order once a week I believe but I was fine with that. Delivery was quick and very clean! read more

Bought full set of Viking appliances took over a year to completely install, no low flame on stove, over is not level, refrigerator leaked since installed, told it was the seal, installer ( at the end of a year long install) turned seal around told it would work didn't, called him said he would order one, but every 6 months phone call no one can help, was told my oven/ stove was fine they just don't have a low flame, now freezer is broken and told no one in Pittsburgh to fix these appliances that is why they have blown me off, horrible customer service, so so wood work for install ( told would be a beautiful seamless job, spent over an hour with Viking services to get one number from a guy in Cleveland. Never will go here again. And Viking is horrible, dishwasher is barely adequate. Microwave is ok, but seriously just go to Lowe's just buy scratch and dent it will be the same. 22k gets you bad appliances and horrible service from the stores and Viking itself. read more

We had a great experience at dormont appliance after we two bad experiences at Home Depot. The person that helped us was very friendly and knew his stuff, he had good customer service. They had varieties of all the brand name appliances, and the wait time to have our order delivered was reasonable - only a few weeks. They don't hire contractors to install their appliances (except microwaves) so the likelihood of running in to problems due to miscommunication between departments is very slim. We'll definitely shop from here again the next time we need an appliance. No wonder they've been around for so long u don't get this kind of treatment at the big retailers. read more

I chose Dormont Appliance because it wasn't a local big box store. What a mistake. Ordered a stove, refrigerator, dishwasher and microwave. The were to be delivered 7/27, which was only scheduled after I called them several times. I would call and be promised a return call by Wayne the salesperson, and would never get a return call. I gave me a specifications of what I needed and the space that I have and he assured me that everything I ordered was OK. Well finally in September on the 17th the refrigerator came and it was too big, the stove had a dent in it. The microwave seems to be OK.,And he tells me I won't be getting the dishwasher until December! I canceled my order, went to Lowe's. Brought a dishwasher home the night I purchased it and the refrigerator will be delivered next week! I called and explained the need for a refund, and my disappointment in the customer service. I was told that I have to wait another four days for their "bookkeeper" to come in for them to mail me a refund. read more

What an experience! The microwave was never installed because of the ceramic tile. I said that he could break the tile, but he refused, even if I signed something for him. The dishwasher was installed but bent (they are sending a new front panel). The 2nd truck was over 2 hours late. Only 2 of 4 appliance were on the truck. The dryer was smashed and took 2 weeks to get a new one. The installers (Bill&Caesar) broke my old dryer, so I was without one for the 2 weeks I waited. They claimed the old dryer was broken or the GFI was broken (neither was the case). They disconnected the dryer shut off that I just paid $175 to install. The washer was dented, but I accepted it. Then it malfunctioned spewing brown rust on my clothes. They (Bill&Caesar) broke the water line to the frig, so I did not get the ice maker installed. Weeks later Chris & Jaron showed up and redeemed Dormont Appliance. They hooked up the broken line for the ice maker, reinstalled the gas shut off and fixed the dryer vent correctly. They installed a new washer. Thank goodness Dormont sent Chris and Jaron. They even offered to install the microwave that the installer would not install the first time. GE is sending someone to install a new front dishwasher panel. I am hoping I do not need new appliances for a long, long time. If I do, I will ask for Chris and Jaron to be my installers. read more

They charge $30.00 for shipping and installation. If they carried something unique to my needs I would consider it but not when they carry the same items I would find elsewhere. I've recently needed to replace my range, then a month later, my microwave. I went to Dormont Appliance for the first time in searching for my range. I found Bill, their Appliance Sales Manager, to be friendly, knowledgeable and not-pushy. He explained the different brands and features, and shared the current promotion, which was a great deal. Then he explained the 5 year warranty Dormant Appliance offers for a low price, and if the unit needs serviced three times, they replace it for free. The buying and installation service was excellent, so when my microwave died a month later, I returned to Bill. The 4th of July promo dropped the microwave I wanted down to nearly half price, and I purchased the 5 year warranty on it too. Once again, the buying and install process was smooth - on time and drama free. I highly recommend Dormont Appliance for your next appliance need. I won't buy anywhere else! read more

I purchased a washer and dryer from Dormont Appliance for my rental property 2 years ago. Unfortunately I was not happy with the service and my overall experience with them. Dormont Appliance is a good bit more pricey than what you will find at a large box store, however I was willing to pay a little more to support a locally owned and run business. But if I am going to pay more then I expect to get top notch professional service from start to finish, which did not happen. I had scheduled delivery & installation for a Saturday when I could be at the property. I received a call that morning saying there was a mix up & they did not receive my appliances from their warehouse & that they would have to reschedule installation to the following week. I was very upset that they did not find this out till the morning of the appointment. It was very inconvenient to me because I had planned my schedule around being there that Saturday morning. Also I was putting the house on the market to rent that weekend & needed the appliances installed. It is unfortunate that Dormont Appliance has left such a bad taste in my mouth because I have purchased additional appliances in the last 2 years and have chose to go elsewhere even though they are located just up the street from me. read more

We recently bought $10,000 appliances for a kitchen remodel. First dishwasher and range delivered ... D/W lower panel smashed. Range electronics failed. Second dishwasher ok. Second range we saw box off truck smashed so wouldn't accept it. Third range worked ok for 3 months ... Now has same electronics problem. Things break, we understand. But this is a pretty high failure rate for upper end GE appliances. I recommend staying away from them. However, the WORST part of all this is the service we got from John. He loved taking our money. He boasted of the appliance quality and commitment to service that you just can't get at a box store. Since the first reported problem, the attitude changed and is reflected in the following quotes. "What do you want me to do?" "They just don't make appliances like they used to." "That's why you need to get the extended warranty." (Did I mention this equipment is barely 3 months old?) So even more than GE, I would stay away from these Dormont creeps unless you don't mind absolutely horrid customer service. read more

The extended insurance that is sold on GE appliances has not met our expectations on the service end. So far, our GE washer has been broken twice and taken several weeks to successfully repair. A repair person comes, tells us we need more parts he does not have at the time, and then orders them for the following week. The washer was fixed for less than a week when there was an electrical issue. Again a service person came out, ordered parts for the following week, schedules the appointment with me, but fails to set up the appointment through GE. I stayed home from work to be available for a no show. Now I have to stay home again tomorrow for another service call. I'm beginning to think that GE products and their service people stink and I would certainly never buy another GE appliance. read more

Bought my GE appliance package from here. Got the best price on the package that included fridge, stove/oven, microwave, and dishwasher. The fridge was a floor model that had an issue with the bottom freezer ice maker. Dormont appliance sent out a service tech multiple times to try and repair the issue. After unsuccessfully repairing the issue they replaced the fridge with a brand new one and delivered it to my house and removed the old one. Their service was exceptional and I would not have received this type of service and attention from a big box store. We recently purchased new GE refrigerator, dishwasher, stove and microwave from Dormont and we had problems with the dishwasher and the stove not working properly as son as we got them. The dishwasher had a problem with the rinse aid dispenser working properly and the stove had problems with the oven portion of the GE stove turning off and not work for an hour. When we placed a service call they came out and ordered some parts and the new parts were not installed Nov. 11. Within a day after the new parts were installed the same problem occurred and as of Nov. 21, 2018 we are now waiting for a new stove to be delivered. The response to this issue has been slow at best and is not what I would have expected from the company or from General Electric sells it's products based on the fact that they are made in the USA and that you should not have problems getting parts or repairs!! This has impacted our ability to use the stove for Thanksgiving and we will never buy a GE appliance again!! read more

Do not buy anything there. I purchased a gas stove a fridge from them. They could not deliver for a month??? When they did deliver, I was seriously ill in the hospital and my 87 year old father was at the house for the delivery. They installed the fridge at least a foot away from the wall claiming it wouldn't fit under the cabinet. It wouldn't fit because the installed it with the power cord under it! Six months later when I returned to my home recovered from my illness, I see that they had never taken the protective plastic off either appliance, there was a huge scratch on the oven handle, a dent at the top of the freezer door, several cosmetic plugs were missing on the fridge door and the ice maker wasn't working even though I had paid extra for it. When I called Dormont Appliance I was basically told that "it was too late now to do anything about it." I had too many other things to resolve after my illness and I just let it drop. Exactly 2 days after the 1 year warranty ran out, the oven stopped working. A call to them told me to call a repair person myself since I should have purchased the extended warranty. Before I could gather some $ to pay for repairs, the burners stopped working. read more
