Should I say JALAPEÑO MARGARITA?! After the Longest Table dinner, I can here to meet up with Debbie and Juliette for a drink and to shoot the breeze tonight. I've had this margarita here before and it does not get any better than this! No joke. I met a guy who used to be the Manager at the St. Augustine Dos Gatos. He was very nice and talkative with us. You can tell he cares about this business and the Customers. I drove around the block several times trying to find a street parking spot, but with a concert going on across the street-it was hard to do. I did not give up and finally found one about four block down the street. It was worth the walk! I think Dos Gatos in my opinion is one of the best bars, drinks and employees in Jax! This bar was an accidental find while wandering around downtown one evening. This bar happens to be located across from the Florida theater which makes it a convenient location if you're going to an event there or really if you are going to any event in the downtown area. There is some street parking available and a parking lot that is free at night also around the corner. When I walked in I knew I was going to love this place because it was a very dim, they had an entire wall of alcohol, and there was a lot of people chatting around the bar and in some seating groups in different corners. Now drinks in this place are not cheap I think they averaged around $10 each. They have this fairly elaborate menu mixed drinks and the bartenders really seem to enjoy making them so we spent some time sampling quite a few the drinks. Now interestingly many of them hell A lot of sugar in them roam various juices and mixers like but you can always get your own drink made to order if you don't like the things in the menu. There is adequate restrooms, the music was great because they were playing music from the 80s and 90s and it was clearly designed to match with the crowd which was 30 and 40 somethings for the most part, A nice diversion from those 20 something bars down by the landing. I would definitely come here again, this is a good place to bring a date, it's a good place to bring your friends, there were even eight or 10 Coast Guard members in there hanging out. read more

Ok so on 7/31 I was here and I gave them one of my credit cards to run. I signed a bill for $50 something, well the next day I had 3 pending charges on two different cards. I have been here before and I'm guessing there system kept my other card in there system, but anyway I called them and this lady tells me the bad weather caused a glitch in there terminal and it charged peoples credit card multiple times. WTF!! Really!!! Yall must be think I'm really that stupid!!!!! Sad part is this happened to me before. I think some of the bartenders they hire, steel money and or don't take accountability for whomever dont pay there tabs and find someone to put it on. I only had one signed receipt but yet 3 separate charges show up. I have been going here for 10 plus years now and I met one of the owners, I think she DJ, they are both from California I think. Cool people. But my family is our local officials in government and unfortunately I have to report this. read more

I love this bar.... and I hate bars! Lol. The vibe and atmosphere certainly sets the mood. It's a mix of mostly 30 somethings, but there are a few younger and older. The people and bartenders are friendly and the decor is pretty cool. There are two rooms. The room at the front is the bar area with tables nearby, and the backroom has a DJ set up and a few tables and couches to lounge at. The drink I had was pretty strong, but I don't know how much it cost (I was there for a work function). I wish I had a date to take here, because it's such a great low-key chill spot to chit chat and pass the time. read more

My wife Madison and I stopped by after a concert last night. We went to another local cocktail lounge before the concert and we're extremely disappointed. We had almost given up hope on the Jacksonville cocktail scene, but we decided to give Dos Gatos a go before we called it a night. We were greeted almost immediately by Casey, told him about our bad experience earlier in the night, and that we wanted some Jacksonville redemption. He was one of the best bar tenders I've had the pleasure to watch. The menu was very well thought out. A variety of drinks with every base liquor to suit anyone's taste. Our bartender was Casey and he was awesome, attentive, and made some jokes with us here and there. The atmosphere is really chill and laid back, I feel like I came here once before but there was a cover charge. The doorman was really nice, and made convo with me while i was out smoking. Went in for a drink before a show the other day and nicely said hi to the girl bartender but was not greeted back with the same kindness. She abruptly asks for my friend and I's id not acknowledging our hello. I hand her my valid passport with an expiration date not until 2030 and she proceeds to argue with me that it expires in 2020 which was when it was ISSUED. I am in shock as she just tosses it in front of me and walks away angrily clearly not wanting to admit to her mistake. I then ask the guy bartender if I can get a drink and is then treated with kindness from there on out and apologizes for the misunderstanding. I am in the service industry myself and understand people come in underage and you have to ask, but she went about it the completely wrong way. I hope that she learned from this experience to be a nicer person to people trying to have a good night. This place has the best craft cocktails in Jacksonville. Hands down. On Monday nights they have karaoke and it's a blast! I am a karaoke enthusiast and I love going here for it the most. Even the bartenders make their way up to the stage! And they're all really good! My favorite drink to order is the the punch bowl. I've spent mucho dinero at this fine establishment and whiled away many a late night/early morning it the company of its fine bartenders. I've taken a hiatus for a couple of years (my liver thanks me) and returned again to my old haunt after a concert across the street at the beautiful Florida Theater. The menu is just as witty and cocktails are just at tasty as I remember. DJ was spinning new school style (macbook) and the decibel was at its usual level (loud). The bar has held up well and entices me to come haunt her halls again. Rock n Roll Karaoke Monday night beckons and I believe I might answer her call. Haven't been to Dos Gatos in a LONG time. But attending the Florida Theatre across the street lended itself to a revisit, if you will! This place is a craft cocktail bar....and WOW can they knock your socks off with taste and presentation! As soon as you enter this bar, you walk right into the bar area. They have plenty of bar seating and tables along the wall. In the other room, there is tables, seats, chairs, candle lights... You can't think of a cocktail to have, ask for suggestions. The staff is friendly and talkative...so don't be shy! They have the makings for all your favorite Mad Men cocktails and MUCH more. I had my old time favorite, a Jalapeno Margarita. Walked in for the first time expecting more. I heard from friends that it was all that! The place was nearly deserted but it was a weekday and Art Walk was going on. It's a little away from the center of the action. Pretty decent drink special but I was not taking away by the beer in a can with the side tequila shot. It was ok. What captured my attention was the music. A smoky luscious voice accompanied by talented brass and lead guitar. Why aren't these musicians on a huge stage in a coliseum of sorts!? I enjoyed listening to creative interpretations of well known top charts. As a singer and guitarist, I was able to appreciate the creativity of the music. I ordered my first drink off the specialty menu (it was a seasonal berry smash) then asked him to surprise me with a second that would complement the first and he nailed it. He whipped up a raspberry whiskey something that was perfect. On another note, my 3 friends got 3 different drinks and very much enjoyed them. Highly recommend. Six wealthy professionals walk into this bar, and are completely ignored. It was astonishing. We've been all around this planet and consumed thousands of gallons of alcohol over the years. Never have we ever had such a bad experience. It wasn't even that busy, we found seating for 6 immediately. The bar tenders were just that bad. So after about 30 mins, we managed to one drink. When I first walked into Dos Gatos, a wave of relief washed over me. I think Jacksonville's downtown [or the entire town for that matter] has been waiting for a place like this. Chic little lounge with lots of exposed brick, great drink selections, and lots of funky seating areas. You can go there and dance to the good music, a mixture of Indie + 80's + some Top 40 [apparently they are pretty picky about their DJ's, although they don't host any known DJ's around town, it's more like a good iTunes playlist]. I have also participated in one of their Monday Night Karaoke sessions... and really showed my true talents there. Or, you can grab a cocktail, sit down in a dimly lit corner, and have some nice conversations with your friends. A posh little lounge with a cool vibe. Lots of character. I really get a kick out of sitting at there bar front and watching the bartenders do their magic. It's a mini show to watch them make a drink. And the fact it's in downtown Jacksonville and doesn't suck is more surprising to me than how awful The Last Jedi was. We went on a Sunday night after a Jags victory and the place was filled with celebrating players. There were more Jaguars in there that night than in all of Kenya. I don't remember if the drinks were expensive or good because I had been drinking like Nic Cage in Leaving Las Vegas since 11AM but I'm sure everything was spot on. If I had to choose between watching the original Predator film for the 294th time or a few hours at Dos Gatos on a Saturday night I would pick Dos Gatos; that's how good it is. read more

One of my favorite bars in Jacksonville. They make craft cocktails and are reasonably priced. Service can be incredibly slow at peak hours. The bar is so long and they only have a couple of bartenders. It's in a great location directly across from the Florida Theater. Door man is awesome, always says hey to us. Dos Gatos is an awesome bar. The aesthetic on the inside is extremely well done and gives off relaxed, loungy vibes. The drinks are rather pricey, but that is because all of the ingredients are premium and they are worth the occasional splurge. A highlight for me is the Trader Vic's Mai Tai, served in a tiki bowl with a "volcano" center. Very tasty drink, and due to its size it is a relative bargain. I don't think it is a bar to spend an entire night at, but definitely a great place to start or end the night (or to spend the middle for that matter) read more
