1st and last time I've been to this restaurant. Service was ok. But the food horrible. Stay away from this place. Our food was delivered within 10 minutes of order taken. What's that tell you??? I am sure they fry the egg and the rest heated in a microwave. Potato was just boiled and fried potato rings. No seasoning at all. My pico de gallo looks like frozen salsa that was thawed over night. Little place right off the Mesquite Square. The chips and salsa were pretty good. The food was just OK. It wasn't very flavorful and the cheese enchilada was barely warm. Let me start out by saying I really liked the food and the service at this place and I will definitely come back here and eat again. This place is nestled on the corner on the downtown Mesquite Square. It is unassuming on the outside and even moreso on the inside. Don't expect fancy, because it is anything but fancy. It is old, it is dated, and oddly it has a lot of tropical plants on either side when you walk in, taking up a lot of dining room space, and if you walk back to the restrooms you will wonder where you are and why you came here. But, don't let that scare you off, the food is delicious and the service is fantastic. Enjoy the place for what it is, a great hole in the wall kinda of place to get some delicious food! read more

$40 FOR TWO, bland fajitas, bland rice, bland beans, almost sweet and no kick salsa, bland 'barely qualified as' queso, bland guacamole and watered-down tea. My wife had lemon in her tea and it had more flavor than just regular tea. It was almost as if she was drinking a very thinned out lemonade. She did say that she enjoyed her tamale, not hard to screw those up because you can buy them off the shelf at any store in the freezer section and they taste good, she has had better from a can. Another major letdown was the salsa, I swear it was almost sweet like someone had put way too much sugar in it. You could not taste anything in it really. I could not taste cilantro, I could not taste the Tomato, couldn't even taste the onion! We had to ask for something hotter which they brought out some more which added a little bit of spice to it and the queso. It also helped the salsa. Otherwise they were just playing off the shelves out of a can Bland and Horrid to the palate. We wound up leaving more than half the food there, and I just left the money on the table. I will not go back, the food was worse than my ex-wife's Micro-Wave cooking. As a matter of, I wonder if she was cooking in the kitchen? The fajitas were a total bust. Not even seasoned properly. It was like someone just sliced up some beef, tossed it in a oiled skillet and dumped it in the place with precooked and room temp Onion and Bells. I couldn't even finish it, it was so bland and bad. We left there, went to Tom Thumb and grabbed a couple of those El Fenix TV Dinners, those had more flavor than the food at Dos Panchas. No plans on going back, I can't abide bland Mexican food. I was raised in a booth as El Chico in Old Fort Worth Seminary South. I cut my teeth on Jalapeno's and Hand Made Enchilada's, and Salsa and guacamole made by the Cuellar's themselves. GREAT HORCHATA, HAND MADE DELICIOUS TORTILLAS! (The best things here.) Arriving to Dos Panchas is like arriving to a restaurant in Mexico. Not necessarily because of the authenticity, but because it's unsanitary unattended tables, the dirty floors, and the run down furniture and walls. The waitress was unknowledgeable about the menu when asked about different dishes. She looked very unhappy to be there. No courtesies or greetings were offered. We only saw our waiter once. She didn't come back to get us a refill, ask if the food was okay, or even offer to clear any plates. As you can see in the pictures, we had enchiladas and the parillada. The enchiladas had a different type of seasoning (not gonna say it was bad but it wasn't amazing). The rice and beans were authentic. The Parillada plate was a 8/10. If you're STARVING and craving Mexican food, come here. If you can hold off a little more, drive past this place to somewhere better. read more

Dos Panchas is a unique style of a Mexican Restaurant. It provides each customer with an authentic feel when compared to other usual Mexican restaurants. Each meal is home cooked, leaving the customer with a feeling of comfort. Their chips and salsa is also outstanding! All free with the meal if eating after 11:30am! The building also supply's the scenery of "Mexico" with their brick theme layout, and bright colors to show off the location of their wonderful cooks! Their customer service is amazing, their waiters constantly check on their customers assisting them with whatever they may need! Antonio was my waiter who did an outstanding job! The service was good. The restaurant was a little dirty. Dusty, and the bathrooms are way back in the back of the restaurant and you have to walk through some of the door leading into the kitchen area. Very dirty places in the back. The food was our main issues. Tacos were good. Salsa was good. The rest was not. We were looking for authentic Mexican food. That is what was advertised on this restaurant. Nope! I love this restaurant. I feel like it's a hidden gem. When I have family or friends visit this is a little corner restaurant I love to take them. The appearance may not be much but the service and quality of food speak for themselves. I love to eat here and place Togo's staff is so nice and considerate. I love you Dos Panchas. I always have. This small tex-mex restaurant on the historic square in old downtown Mesquite has been serving up the fajitas since 1997. Don't come for the decor because this place is no frills. On Mothers Day my family and I came here to eat lunch, which was of course packed. We called ahead and got seating for a party of 8 with a reserved table. Most places would not do this on Mothers Day, but they appreciated that I called ahead to ask. I guess it's the little things. Inside we were seated at a small wooden table on the right side of the restaurant. A man quickly dropped of several baskets of chips and cups of salsa. I would say the chips and salsa are a 4/5, very good salsa and just a smidge over-done chips. Add salt. Service was sort of slow, especially refills, but this was because they were so busy. I forgive them. Food came and we ordered Fajitas, which were outstanding. My wife got Steak and I got Combo. Flour tortillas are made fresh on site, which is always a huge plus. Good flavor, and good amount of meat for the price. Charro beans were out of this world. Rice is basic, a little dry. Pico was awesome too, very fresh. Truthfully Dos Panchas probably needs to shut down for a week and repaint the place, as its showing it's age and wear. If you don't mind though, you will find some genuine Tex-Mex lovingly prepared and served in this "hole in the wall" owner operated spot in Mesquite. Check it out. read more

2nd time they have ripped me off on charges. The last time, I ordered Caldo de Rez (beef soup). Asked for a little lemon, gave me one small, dried up lime. There was just the tiniest bit of beef in the soup but tons of fat and an unbelievable amount of bone. Asked for more tortillas, he brought 4. Really only wanted 2 but he didn't ask or give me time to tell him. We had also asked for more salsa. The salsa they bring is in these tiny cups that look like little molcajetes. When we got the bill, they charged $1.75 for the tortillas and $0.90 for extra salsa. Am surprised they didn't charge for the dried up lime and water. And it's obvious they've raised their prices, so why nickel and dime everything. Their servers seem bored and put-upon. I'm done with that place. read more

It's been more than five years since stepping foot at Dos Panchas. We stopped eating at this restaurant because it always took them over 30 minutes to serve us our food, and we were only a party of three. Several times, we took our out of town family there because our family members googled it and it was super close by. And again, they took forever for our meals to be served. I guess 10 people was way too many. So today, I said, I'll give them another chance by calling in an order for two menudos to go because we did not want to eat inside due to social distancing. As I walked in wearing my mask, it was at least 45% full. The cashier wasn't wearing a mask which to me, in my opinion is not right. Of course this is not her fault. This is up to management to set the example and procedure in place. She was super young and talks to people very closely as she takes the payment. I could understand that people in there cannot wear masks while eating but she should because she's not eating and you want to keep the patrons safe. So when I arrived home, I was so disappointed at what I received for $19.38. I received a VERY small portion of menudo. This was enough for a kid. It was $9 plus tax for at least 9 ounces of tripe and barley any hominy. When you eat inside, their portions are a lot bigger. It's actually a huge bowl compared to what I got. My daughter doesn't like the tripe so there was at least 30 hominy's for her. I had to go to Walmart to buy a can to add to her soup. The meat was not cut evenly, no consistency whatsoever. Some pieces were three inches and some two inch. The flavor & smell was a different type. I just can't figure it out. I use New Mexico and that's pretty darn good. This was flavorless. They did give us plenty of bread and I'm glad because my daughter loves that. We also got a small portion of onions, jalapeños and four limes with no cilantro which I wanted. I called the owner, I recognized her voice and I let her know about my concerns but she did not seem at all interested. She just kept on saying, ok, ok. She didn't seem to care. She said she would tell the people about this. My overall experience here was not good at all. I live five minutes away and it's so sad that their service is not that good still after 10+ years of first going there. If it was good, believe me, I would be spending my money there. I cook a lot but I just didn't have time to make menudo this weekend. I would NOT recommend the menudo there at all because of the smell, flavor, portions and they even included a piece of bone in mine. I almost cracked my tooth. So gross looking. I rather eat Juanitas menudo from a can, Pepper's Cafe but I HIGHLY recommend Habaneros Tacos in Mansfield. They have great food, salsas, aguas frescas and their menudo is FANTASTIC. I don't like being this critical but don't waste your money here. read more

Was looking for a local Mexican food restaurant. This appears to be family owned. Awkward staff, poor service after taking order. Beef Milanesa was horrible. The steak was not pounded for tenderization therefore was extremely tough. The cheese enchiladas were overwhelmed by the chili powder sauce. Beans and rice were ok. "Restuarant Impossible" show would have a field day. Sad this place has so much potential. It needs a good Manager and a new Chef. If I was the owner, I'd be greeting customers making them feel welcomed. I hope they read these reviews and make changes as I really want them to succeed. read more

Dos Panchas would be getting four stars if it wasn't for the fact that the food was delivered so slowly and they were by no means busy. I ordered the beef and cheese nachos and asked for potatoes in lieu of chips (I love them, must be the Irishman in me.) and found them to be delicious. I had Dr. Pepper no ice to drink and of course found no fault in that. Not bad. I judge any Tex-Mex restaurant by their chicken enchilada dinners. The fajita chicken was favorable and fresh. Now the cleanliness of the place is something to be desired. This place has a great hole-in-the-wall feel, mostly because it is! The food is great. The staff is pretty regular and service can be a bit on the slow side, so it's not a place for quick eats. That said, the chilaquiles make a great breakfast for dinner! read more
