My son treated me to a meal from this gem he found months ago. When we arrived at 2:30 in the afternoon, there was a line! It moved quickly and we ordered our meals at the counter. I spoke in Spanish to the lady behind the counter, but I'm pretty sure she'll speak English if needed. I ordered gorditas with lengua and barbacoa. I wasn't sure about the rice and beans because I sometimes find them too salty. These were just right. I could only eat one gordita and took the other one home, but I should have known, they don't travel well - are best eaten fresh. I just used my fork. My son ordered flautas and they looked SO good! The staff was very pleasant. They bring your meals out to you. I went back after eating and stood in another line(!) for tortillas and chips to take home. I understand the lines - they have fridges along the wall full of all kids of great foods and sauces to take home! The restaurant was VERY clean and the noise level low. Traveled to Mesquite, TX from Florida for a convention but during my stay in Mesquite, I couldn't leave until I try some Mexican food here. The food here is absolutely decadent! I can tell their tortilla chips are hand made. All of their food here is absolutely high quality! The staff were super friendly and patient! I ordered their lunch special of 'Enchiladas Potosinas' with a Horchata. That horchata was to die for. I can still remember the taste of it. The restaurant was neat and well-maintained establishment. I'll be traveling back to Texas again next year so Tortilleria La Union will definitely be seeing me again! I hope TSA will allow me to take their tortilla chips in my luggage back home! read more

Walk-in and greeted by a nonsmiling women. I thought it was me. But an, she. Was like that with everyone that' walked. The guy was friendly. The food overall was good. Tortillas definitely fresh and made a difference. I had the carnitas which is hard to get right for me. It was a little blan for me. Some creame and salsa made it better. Pastor was good salsa tasty. Everything is delicious! I tried the tacos, chicharrones, and menudo! The fresh tortillas that are made in house are delicious. The chicharrones have great texture and great taste. This place sux I would rather drive all the way to pleasant grove to Mercado mexico or la Michoacán's for food. The food here tasted really bad like the meat was days old. It wasn't that clean either. Ladies all had a attitude and felt like I was imposing not welcoming at all. I came here on a recommendation of a friend...and the recommendation was that this restaurant does good tamales. Let me start by stating, WOW! The tamales were the BOMB!!! They were freshly made, and the flavors of the tamales were explosive. I truly found a place to come get my fix...now, I don't have to wait until my Mother makes them, (which is towards the end of the year when the holidays take place). The restaurant is simple, and from the looks from the street can be a bit overlooking. Unless someone tells you of this place...you can simply overlook this place as you drive by it. But, don't let this deter you from visiting this restaurant. Note: For us Vegetarians, I recommend the Rajas con Queso (slices of peppers with white Mexican cheese), they're delicious. Note: The Chicken, and Pork tamales were on point with the family....all of the tamales disappeared. So, I take it that they were delicious! lol! :) Note: They also sell some regional products like cheeses, and snacks (a must try if you're into trying new things). Note: These guys do their own tortillas de masa (corn), and de harina (flour) at the establishment. That there is awesome for any Mexican family that loves to eat their home made meals with freshly made tortillas. There's nothing better!!! Los precios so super rasonable, nada caro. En este ultimo ano e visto como la clientela a cresido. Muchas de las veces la linea para ordenar sale de la puerta hasta el estacionamiento y nadie se queja por que todos sabemos que vale la pena esperar un ratito para ser atendidos. Los cobradores son super pacientes y atentos con mucho respeto a todos. Desde las cocineras hasta el muchachito que recoje las mesas, son todos muy lindos. No importa que tan ocupados esten, siempre atienden con mucha amabilidad. A mi me gusta hablar y ordenar por telefono para recojer, pero tambien hemos comido ayi.
