Stopped by Dos Reales because they recently joined the inKind app and I had rewards about to expire. I'm glad that we decided to try it! We came around 5pm on a Saturday and were one of the only tables at the time. By 6pm the place was packed though so be warned on busy days. Our server was nice but everything came out a little slow. I didn't realize my mango margarita was going to be as giant as it was, but I was not disappointment. My pork green chili burrito was delicious and my fiancé was very happy with his molcajete. I haven't read the other reviews but I am a bit surprised at the mediocre rating for this place. I would recommend giving it a try. read more

We ate Dinner here on 09.07.26, By the time we were done with dinner and made the 7 minute trip home my wife was throwing up the food that she had ordered from here. She wound up going to the Emergency Room where the doctor did confirm she had food poisoning. The Staff was not very friendly and we were not impressed. We used to love coming to Dos it was one of our favorite places but now we will find other Mexican restaurants that are better and wont make someone sick. read more

It's Mexican food, so what's not to like? Well, there is *something* not to like here, but overall, it's still Mexican fare, amirite? Dos Reales is one of those places that just seems to be comfortable in not being outstanding. Hey, not everyone wins the blue ribbon and let's face it, the world is pretty much run by C students. But couldn't you at least TRY to seem better? The salsa is good, not great, and they serve you both a smoother and chunky version, so that's a plus. The house marg runs you $9 and is mostly ice & mixer, so the booze must be short. I mean, there's 'on the rocks' and there's 'mostly rocks', and Dos Reales falls in the latter. So, here we are, mid-level salsa and mid-level margs, so I'm really expecting an uptick. Nope, I got more mid-level fare. The Tacos de Pastor are served with a seasoned pork, fresh slices of avocado, and nestled in warm corn tortillas. They actually look better than they taste, mostly because the seasoning on the pork was far too little. The food was not bad, per se, it just wasn't outstanding. My wife's taco salad, on the other hand, was much less 'salad' and much more 'taco'. It's like the kitchen just wasn't trying that evening. But Allison, our server, was very friendly, and our entrées came out very quickly. Seating was easy, service was great, but prices are a little high for the value we got. One of my favorite Mexican restaurants in the area! Usually, I get the Guadalajara Platter that is a very generous combo with two taquitos, a tamale, and nachos with varying toppings around the edges. I always order a side of the habañero salsa--I like spicy!, and theirs has very good smokey flavor as well as good heat. Last night I wasn't as hungry as usual--that Guadalajara platter is a LOT of food. So I got their Tacos Al Pastor, and they were the best Pastor tacos I have EVER had. Been to a lot of Mexican places in this area and around the country and, really, these were the best. The seasoning was really complex and delightful. This just was mediocre at best. You get the typical free chips and salsa when you're seated. Salsa was unflavored, water down, tasteless. Opted for the chicken fajitas. I just ate the meat and veggies, but it was again, not well seasoned. For chicken fajitas, I was a bit shocked that it was an almost 20$ entree. Service was also slow. For a half full house, we waited quite a bit and had to ask our waiter for things like water and the receipt. This is a pass, the Panera next door would be a better choice for a meal. read more

I absolutely fell in love with the Mexican spot. They had a two for one margarita deal going on, it only included the house margarita. Unfortunately no flavor add ins but that was fine with me! When you get sat at your table you get brought out two different types of salsa which I was a fan of. One was a bit spicier than the other but nothing crazy. We also tried the queso, it was a bit basic but I'll never complain about a cheese dip. I ended up ordering the combination plate number one. It came with two beef enchiladas and one crunchy beef taco with rice. The beef was fantastic, it tasted very authentic to me. My friend tried the shrimp tacos and she seemed to really like them. I really enjoyed the convenience of being able to order online and picking up the food rather quickly after I order. The downside is I saw that they had double charged me on two separate occasions. Exact same amount on the day with different confirmation numbers. I'm not sure if it's a system glitch with the online orders but I had reached out sent photos of the charges on my credit card and have not heard back. Although I really enjoyed the food and convenience, I will not be returning because it's just not worth paying double for my meals when there is a system issue. It's a shame because I really like this place too. Hopefully, they get it resolved soon and doesn't happen to anyone else. read more

My friends and I stopped at this location for an early dinner. The place is packed Friday afternoon, but we were seated very quickly. Our server was obviously very busy for the lack of service we received. He grabbed our drink order and our food order first. He arrived a few minutes later with our drinks, and we waited close to five minutes for food. We had to ask for water and extra napkins three times before we receive them. It took three attempts to get our bills correct as well. My house margarita was good, but my beef nachos were extremely greasy. I'm not sure if I'll be back or not honestly. read more

My trip to Dos Reales was delightful!!! They decorated so wonderfully for Christmas and it was so cute. The vibe was perfect!! We celebrated taco Tuesday. I had the tacos Al pastor and they were so incredibly yummy. I had just gone roller skating for three hours so the tacos hit the spot. The beans and rice that came with the meal were so good - the Mexican rice had amazing flavor. Also there were actually little pineapple hunks so that made my heart happy! The service was great. Bonus: they pay attention to the little details. For example, look how the light switch blends in with the mural. See photo. Wow! I have to say every time I have had food from this location it is some of the best I have ever had from Mexican food. Not to mention the fact that the price for a lunch plate is unbeatable, even less than Wendy's, and gives you the taste and spice you're looking for. They even give chips and TWO containers of salsa with my order. I'm not sure if it's because I'm nice, but the to go lady always goes the extra mile to make small talk with me and sometimes it's the best part of my day, the staff here is incredible and so nice to be around. read more

This is my favorite Mexican food place around town and I LOVE Mexican food! When I stopped in for lunch over a year ago for the first time, I got the combination 5 platter (rice and beans, 1 taco, and one enchilada) and I will never get anything else. It's hard to explain but their cheese is out of this world. It doesn't taste like any cheese I've ever had at a Mexican food restaurant. My taco meat is melt in your mouth every time and my cheese enchilada is savory and gooey. My husband is the type to try new things and he's never had anything bad before. He tends to get the steak fajitas frequently and we never have leftovers because they're too dang good! We have gotten a to-go margarita since COVID-19 started and I can honestly say those are not spectacular. They're very average. Mine tasted super strong so I was not overly enthused. I don't like to taste a potent flavor of tequila in my Marg. Can we talk about the queso?? Oh my lord. We get the carne con queso every single time and it never disappoints. I'm sure their regular queso is just as good but this is a meal in and of itself and delicious. Just try it, you won't regret it. We always have extra to eat the next day. The service can be hit or miss, as with any restaurant. They're often busy and it seems partly understaffed during the lunch rush, but my food has always come out quick and hot! The dining room has recently been remodeled and it looks looks more up to date & fresher than in my previous visits. I eat here often. They always have the order correct if you order to go or through a delivery service. Never have issues. Burrito fajita is my personal favorite option. But also, best kept secret is that they have ceviche on their regional menu. As a true Mexican food lover, this is exciting! It's fresh and delicious. I have only ever had it for dine in. Thought I was ordering on happy hour menu that said 1/2 price appetizers. Waiter did NOT POUNT OUT that the Nachos are listed along with appetizers. Grease Bomb! Save yourself some time, money, frustration, and grease and go to Taco Bell! I didn't think that it was possible to be worse than Taco Bell, especially the one in Shawnee, but we have a new winner with Dos Reales Authentic Mexican Restaurant. You can see in the pictures that the packing is incredibly poor, part of the tacos don't even have meat in them, and the others are nearly floating away in so much grease. I think that you could power two or three vehicles with the amount of grease that exists in these few tacos. For the tiniest amount of meat that you did get in the tacos, it sadly was cold. There really is nothing redeeming about the food that was delivered for this order. Adding further insult to injury, the bag of chips that was sent was nothing but chip shards and crumbles. Nearly all of the chips were the leftover bits in the bottom of a chip pan. Somehow this was okay to bag up and send out as part of an order. The salsa they sent with the chips was only half full and was bulging on the container, like it had gone bad or been over exposed to heat. I am not sure where the standards and accountability are at in this restaurant for the food and related products that they serve. Overall, this is not only sad and frustrating, but a complete waste of money and time. Save yourself some hassle, get some better food, and save yourself some money by going to Taco Bell. For the little bit of food that I did try, it had a very medicinal flavor to it, and I am not sure why. Time to grab the activated charcoal to help minimize anything negative from the food. Have you ever had one of THOSE weeks where everything seemed to go wrong? I sure did a few weeks back and one of my good friends took me to Dos Reales. The atmosphere is vibrant and fun while still being relaxing. We ordered the queso which was fantastic! We shared a pitcher of margaritas and I got a couple of the shrimp tacos. First of all, the food is always delicious. It arrives quickly, very hot (temperature wise), and is plentiful. The prices are good, lower than most other restaurants in the area, for the amount of food you get. Everything always tastes fresh and well seasoned. Secondly, the staff. The staff members are kind and go out of their way to accommodate you. The manager seems to always be onsite and engaging with customers to make sure they have everything they need. Super nice guy! My favorite server is Julie. She's warm and kindhearted and genuinely cares about her customers. She is attentive and gets the orders correctly and in a timely manner. The location is easy to access and the restaurant is always clean and well taken care of. Sometimes there's a tiny bit of a language barrier if you happen to be talking to one of the kitchen staff (if they're delivering the food to your table). But they are quick to get you help if they don't speak much English. Overall; stellar service, great food, good price/value, and nice atmosphere. read more

Tried this place in my effort to find a good Mexican spot close to my house without having to drive across town. I ordered several things to try to get a feel for the menu, and while it wasn't awful, it also didn't wow me. The salsa (arguably the most important thing) was somehow both bland and spicy. The one that was chunky, had a little bit better flavor, but the spicier smoothly blended salsa had not a lot going for it other than a lot of heat, and a little bit of sugariness. I also ordered a carne asada taco on a corn tortilla. The meat was also somewhat flavorless and seemed a bit over cooked. It was challenging to chew. The three cheese enchiladas were pretty great but in my experience, it's not too difficult to make decent tasting cheese enchiladas. We also got a choirtaco meal which is chorizo and steak or chicken tacos. Maybe I shouldn't have assumed, but when I see tacos that come with lime and cilantro and onions, I assume those will be on corn tortillas. However, the tacos came on flour tortillas, which seems to not go with the street taco vibes. Sadly, both the corn and flour tortilla were somewhat dry. The chorizo I was good but again, in my opinion it's difficult to have bad chorizo. We also got a side of cheese dip, as well as rice and refried beans, which were again fine but not impressive. My main course pretty much tasted all the same. The tamale could have been really good if not for the meat sauce on top. I've eaten at Dos Reales for over 20 years! I love the food but after today I won't be returning! Dos Reales at 75th and Antioch. My daughter and I ate there today. When we got our check the prices didn't match what was on the menu. We asked our waiter about it and he sent over a lady who explained that there's a cash price and a credit card price. There was no notification of this anywhere and the waiter didn't notify of this either. I believe this is illegal to do! We used a debit card so if they're being charged fees for credit cards I can understand but with a debit card there are no fees but either way the customer should be informed!!!! read more

I thought this was really good food. I had only eaten an apple all day, so I ordered a lot of food for my Mom and me via Uber Eats. I ordered my Mom a chicken enchilada and a chicken taco. She absolutely LOVED it! I ordered a shredded beef chimichanga and a beef tostada for myself. I finished the chimichanga (the shredded beef is REALLY good!) and about a third of the tostada. Eyes bigger than my stomach syndrome. I also ordered a side of refried beans which I had a bite of (a 'side' of beans = an entire container of beans) and they were good. For lunch tomorrow, I ordered sopa Pollo. OMG I tried that and that was absolutely the STAR of this entire gigantic order! Absolutely delicious flavors and it comes with a side of soft, warm tortillas. I cannot wait to have it for lunch tomorrow. Complimentary delivered were two bags of chips and four containers of salsa. There will be lots of leftovers! All of this for about $35. One of my fav Mexican restaurants. Great queso and salsa! They give you a chunky salsa as well as a mild. They have a 62 oz pitcher of margs for less than $20! It's our go to Mexican in Overland Park. Wait staff is very diligent and ensures your water is full and chips are abundant. Depending on the time of day you go, the wait is longer than usual. I got the chicken burrito a la carte and it was delicious. The chicken had a salsa of some sort mixed in with it and smothered in queso! Definitely recommend! read more
