The tamales had good flavor overall -- a bit on the salty side, and the green tamales could've used more spice. The meat portions were a little light, but still decent. They offer both chicken and pork, so make sure to choose your preference. One thing to note: there's an extra service charge when paying by credit card. I ordered four dozen tamales plus two drinks and paid $100.90 due to the added fee. If you plan to visit, I'd recommend bringing cash to avoid the extra charge.

It was very crowded and we were concerned about the service. While the service was a little bit on the slower side and we were there for almost 90 minutes, all the food came out hot and delicious. I got the Enchiladas in Mole Sauce which was excellent. It also came with a soup or salad which was a nice surprise. I went with the black bean soup which was great! If there was any downside, my House Margarita tasted a little weird. I probably could have complained, but I kept with it. Pretty good size, but I think there was a little too much tequila in it! Either way, this place isn't inexpensive, but you do get quite a bit of food and everybody at my table enjoyed their meal. Sometimes thats enough! So when I usually order veggie tacos or they're called vegetariano I used to have a good time with them. This time, I ordered the vegetariano tacos and I said no cheese and I also ordered the black bean soup. The black bean soup came with a whole bunch of grated cheese on top of it. She dumped it on the table and left.She just walked away. In my mind, the waitress was telling me to uck off. I could be wrong. Instead of waiting for her to come back and sending the soup back, I scooped up all the grated cheese and threw it on the plate next to me and ate the black bean soup. When the veggie tacos came, there was no salsa. So I waited for the waitress to come back, and I said, I want some green and red salsa, and she brought me two bottles of hot sauce and left. So my sister asked the busboy in spanish, "green and red salsa" and he said, okay, I'll get it for you. He didn't, the waitress came back, and we told her I wanted green and red salsa, and she told me the green salsa was very hot. I told her to take back the veggie tacos cause they're cold already, and I can't eat them. Wth all this back-and-forth, I'm now in front of naf knaf grill, and I'm gonna get some falafel there. What a waste of time I'm never going back to marias, again, never, never never never! I think the waitress did not speak English that well too bad. So sad, i'm never going there again and I eat veggie tacos several times a week, and many other places which are better than maria's. The last time we were there Jocelyn was 8 years old (she's now 17 and ready to graduate from high school) As soon as we walked in Lulu saw me called me out by my name Phil. The server said they couldn't do separate checks because it was too busy, though there were only about another five or six tables of folks here (if that). My food was just ok, as was the Paloma I ordered--thankful that it was during happy hour, at least, because I only took a couple sips of the Paloma before I decided I couldn't drink it even if I had paid for it. The service wasn't great throughout--we didn't get visited much and had to ask for more salsa and whatnot rather than being asked if we wanted more. But the worst part was when we were ready to wrap up. It took at least 40 minutes for us to get our check and get settled. I had been thinking I probably wouldn't make it to another meeting because I hadn't expected to be gone for a couple hours, but others mentioned they'd made plans after the book club and specifically mentioned that they usually weren't that long (it was my first time meeting with the club). We paid with cash and card, and made note of what was what, but somehow the guy got it totally messed up and we waited 15 minutes for them to cash us out after he took our cards. Had they just given us individual tickets from the start they'd have been done in a fraction of the time, so that was super frustrating. As I said, the food was just ok and with many other places around (at least a couple at which I've eaten and were pretty good) I don't need to come back unless for some reason the book club makes its way back here again. We started with pulled chicken quesadillas which was accompanied by sour cream, pico de gallo and guacamole. There were 3 quesadillas with a good amount of chicken which was tasty and seasoned well. The pico was fresh and had a little twist with the addition of corn, the guacamole was creamy and flavorful. Glenda had the steak taco dinner which came with rice and beans. The rice and beans were good but needed a little bit of salt. I had the steak burrito which was a nice size. The meat same as the taco meat needed more seasoning, but nonetheless was very good. We weren't too thrilled with the salsa and chips. The salsa we thin and lacked spices. We were also served a complimentary cup of soup, it was a nice chicken broth with spaghetti. The broth was very good. The hot sauce was not that hot but added a great flavor . The horchata was perfectly balanced . All in all we had a good meal. I give this restaurant 4 stars.
