Hi there fellow Yelpers! I've gone to Su Taqueria Thaly's many times when I used to live in the Belmont-Cragin/Portage Park neighborhood. This is definitely one of my go-to taco spots whenever I'm in the northwest side of Chicago. The food, prices, and staff are all excellent! Food: There is a wide variety of food and drink options. My go-to order is getting the taco dinner since it comes with tacos, rice, and beans. I also really love their horchata. Service: The staff I've interacted with so far are very nice. I also love that this business is a mother/daughter owned business. Overall, I'd recommend this taco spot to anyone craving tacos in the northwest side of Chicago. The food, prices, and staff are all truly great. Parking can be tricky as they have a little parking lot in the side/back of the restaurant and they is also paid and free street parking. read more

Su Taqueria Thaly's, located in the Hermosa/Belmont/Cragin neighbourhood, has the best Mexican cuisine in Chicago. The staff are friendly and helpful to explain the dishes in English, which is great. The interior reminds me of the old Mexican diners of the 1970's, so it's like walking into a time tunnel. I will visit Su Taqueria Thaly's for lunch or dinner or breakfast again. read more

Oh my god I was truly shocked I live in the area and I go to Kaze sushi all the time and I seriously underestimated this place BUT OH MY GOD PEOPLE when I say the horchata is amazing I mean I've never had this sweet vanilla kind of horchata anywhere else it was top notch. I loved the valentines meal and it was HUGE and very filling 10/10 am definitely going to come back here for the next themed holidays. Took a chance on this place and ordered for delivery. I got three tacos each one different meat. Chicken, steak, and el pastor. All with no flavor. Refried beans (frijoles) was the right amount of mushy and a bit cheesy. I could not stop eating the rice!! This place seemed promising. We came here in the evening to bring a friend that just came in from Mexico. The place was packed so the assumption is that it's great. We waited more then 25 minutes for our food. My food along with another plate from our table came cold. Just one plate was warm. This place definitely has potential. I would work on your cooking line. Food that takes longer to cook should be on first and work your way down the ticket. I might come back in 6 months. read more

This places makes the best Thaly's steak tacos and tripas tacos! The thaly's steak is so juicy, well seasoned, and flavorful. The tripas are cleaned well, fresh, and are crispy! SO GOOD. It's a bit far from where I live, but I will definitely be coming back to eat those tacos and try other menu items too. read more

So many Mexican restaurants. Thaly's is just an average restaurant. Nothing out of the ordinary or nothing that would make me want to go brace to. I was hungry so I stopped in. I wasn't sure what I wanted to order so I went up to the counter and was looking at the menu. The cook/owner? came up, no hello, no anything and walked away leaving me standing at the counter. I ended up ordering 3 steak tacos w/avocado ($1 extra) which were nothing remarkable or memorable. (Tacos a dime a dozen). After ordering I sat down and the waitress brought out chips (good fried tortilla shells) and 2 different type is salsa. The green salsa was sort of bland. The other salsa was excellent with roasted peppers ground up in a tasty salsa (I used that one exclusively) The waitress was nice enough, but forgot my water which I had to ask for & neglected to bring me any utensils. I have long since given up lapping my food off of the plate. With no utensils I used one of the plastic spoons from the green salsa that I didn't care for. Would I go back again? Probably not since Mexican restaurants are a dime a dozen in the city and there are many more where they have better service & better service. read more

This is another 24/7 neighborhood Mexican joint here in the city. I'm glad that it's a ten (10)-minute walking distance from my house. Yes, "wall-in-the-hole" is exactly what Thaly's taqueria is, but it wasn't a shabby place to meet up a friend that you haven't seen for almost ten (10) years! Everything from complimentary salsa/chips, chilaquiles con huevos, to the pozole was quite decent for a place that never closes. Did I have better elsewhere? I would say absolutely. However, let's be realistic. When Rosa J. is hungry, she immediately becomes incapacitated, both mentally and physically. "Yelping" for a top-notch restaurant that may require a significant travel time (on public transportation especially) isn't going to be a practical solution to dealing with her great hunger. Therefore, she has found a reliable joint on the southwest corner of Austin and Belmont. For two (2) bowls of pozole, one (1) large horchata, one (1) small horchata, one (1) large agua de tamarindo, an order of chilaquiles con huevos, and one (1) tripe taco, the total was $36. Just like every other Mexican restaurant, we all left with "Full," with a capital "F," stomaches. They do accept most major credit cards, so there's no need to locate an ATM. read more

I believe this place is a hidden gem. Ordered steak fries, AL pastor and steak tacos. I must say it is better then most places I've been to around Dunning or portage park. Steak fries were fresh and a health alternative then to what TBK offers. T Both the tacos had soo much flavors which I was surprised to get from this place. The fish and shrimp tacos are amazing. Not only are they fully loaded tacos but their green sauce is to die for! If you stop inside try their fresh fruit juices. The Guava is my absolute favorite, I always get a Large when they have it. read more

Food: the food was great. We got horchata which was delicious and tacos de asada, pastor, and the fries (with asada and cheese) along with a quesadilla de asada to go. Service: the server was nice but it took forever to get asked for something to drink let alone our food. We waited over 30 minutes to get our food. The one quesadilla we asked to go took more than 20 minutes. To top it off it was not the quesadilla we ordered. We got a plain quesadilla and a tiny one. read more

There was a roach in my cup of salsa. I wish i took a picture but i was so mortified i had to quickly throw it away before i threw up everything in my body. I've been coming to this place for 15 years and realize I never wrote a review, and I write reviews for everything. Best tacos and green salsa. I think once a long time ago I got some type of dinner and it was just okay. I have only ever gotten carne asada tacos with cilantro and onion and they are the best. I did learn something thou, at times they make the tacos with pre-cooked meat. They do not taste the same as fresh cooked meat, so when I order I always say I want fresh meat. The green salsa is the best salsa. I do have the recipe for making it but it's for making a large batch so I just buy a large cup of it. One thing I've always noticed is that they have a large turn around with staff. read more

There's a review on here from some guy named Oscar C, that is complete BULLSHIT! Thaly's is one of my FAVORITE Mexican spots in the city. I'm super picky as to how I like my meat and Thaly's definitely fits my criteria. Everything is always good, fresh and the horchata is one of my favs in Chicago! AND THEY DONT CHARGE YOU FOR SAUCE, like Mc. Asshole somewhere in these comments was saying lmao. His whole review is some bullshit. I love this little joint! It's open 24/7 and serves delicious food. The service good too- they are always checking on me and the food comes out fast. I almost always have a good experience here and I have been many times. Their tortas, tacos and burritos are delicious and definitely worth it for the large portions at good price point. They also give complementary chips and salsa :) The green sauce that comes with those is DELICIOUS, although it tends to be on the spicy side so proceed with caution! This little taco place has my heart, and my stomach. We first went here when we moved around the corner. Their tacos are delicious, and I love their rice and beans. I've also had their pozole and costillas in salsa verde. I really like their pastor, pollo and asada. However, what keeps me coming back is their salsa verse. They blend it with avocado. My husband and I will bring this salsa to parties. Also, one of the servers has gotten to know us so well that she always brings out two salsa verdes instead of the salsa rojo. She knows our orders and is so patient with my husband's terrible Spanish accent. read more

One of my favorite 24 hour Mexican restaurants! First off their chips and salsa are so delicious. I mostly love the green salsa they serve, it is a must try. My favorites are their steak torta and steak tacos (1.99) each. This is one of my favorite locations to go to for a quick delicious lunch. The waitress was really nice and the service wasn't bad at all but I did find that they had charged us for a large drink when we had ordered a small but it's whatever it was only an extra dollar but I just thought I should mention it so be be careful when reading your receipt. Now for the food.... Honestly, the only good thing were the drinks while the food isn't bad it just wasn't anything special or memorable. I had ordered the Hot Cheetos Burrito and I was pretty excited thinking it would be the best burrito i'll ever eat but, that excitement soon faded as I started eating it, the meat wasn't dry per se but it sure wasn't juicy or moist and it also had hardly any flavor which was the same complaint my family had and after eating the first half I found myself having to force myself to finish the burrito as I just didn't find it enjoyable. The only thing I would say I enjoyed were the drinks in the blender designed cups and also the portions sizes of the food were okay not too big but not too small.
