Mexican food is probably one of my favorite cuisines. This place is tiny. We got take out since we really are on lockdown and there's was no dine in anywhere. Guys when I say I come here every week, I am not kidding. I know they know me, and one of the girls even knows my order. I ALWAYS get a shrimp taco and an arranchera taco. I switch up the 3rd one, lately its been pollo al pastor. Oh and a nopal asado. This is my neighborhood go to tacos. I bring everyone here, not only are the tacos super cheap, they are sooooo good! The salsas are always spicy and delicious. As for drinks, I normally get a michelada, a paloma or a cantarito. I literally haven't tried anything I don't like. This place is so delicious that I am currently typing this review during a Chicago random snow night in April at 10pm...that says a lot. The tacos are delicious! How is this place profitable at $1 tacos?!! I can taste old meat...and this wasn't old it was very very fresh tasting. The quesadillas are huge and loaded! Great food....the only downside is after tonight I can NO longer justify paying more than $1 for my x fav tacos in west town! Went there with good expectations giving the review star rating . Should have known when I heard another customer asking when their waters were coming out. I ordered 6 tacos, 2 Al pastor, 2 tripa and then I aske for two of the chilango.. she said they don't have it . I asked for some other ones... she didn't know what they were, then I asked for another one and she said they didn't have it so I said " ok let's keep it simple just give me 3 of the tripa and 3 Al pastor" she said ok. My husband asked for Chile relleno tacos.... She comes back and said they don't have it. He orders what ever they had... my son ordered cheese fries.... Those never came. The horchata is horrible & hot. When she came back with my order she on only had 4 tacos( I orded 6) I asked her for my tacos she said "oh they made a mistake" and was going to take the tacos. I said no just bring me the other 2. (she asked me like 3 times what tacos I had ordered)And I asked her for a coke in can... I finished my 4 tacos and my other tacos and coke never came... I had to go to the front and ask her for my coke. She gives me a bottle ( I ordered a can) I just took the bottle, I didn't care anymore. I ask for the check & go back to my table. it was so frustrating. Worst experience we've had in quite a while. And it was not just our waitress. When I went to the front for my coke I saw another waitress charging a man for his order and "he said that's not right." She looked at his food and said " oh I gave you the wrong order" ..... food was not what I expected either, flavor was not there... but when you are starving it's ok, definitely better tacos elsewhere... . We stumbled upon this place as we got tired of waiting for the freight train on Narragansett and boy I am glad the train stopped us. Memo's Tacos has great authentic Mexican food and it's BYOB! They have lots of traditional dishes and some unique taco combinations that are definitely worth trying. The salsa changes every time we go there, and we have never been disappointed by any of the salsas, they are all delicious! You can tell that the cook loves his restaurant by the way he cooks his food, with passion and innovation. When I walked into this fairly new restaurant there was a group of people huddled around the bar area and everyone looked surprised I was there, including the waitress who didn't know what to do. Finally the chef came out and told me to sit wherever I wanted. I suppose they must have thought I was an inspector or something. The waitress, who was a pretty Mexican girl, was fairly attentive but never smiled and spent most of my meal looking at her shoes in what appeared to be agony at being there. I ordered the queso fundido w/ chorizo and the enchiladas suizas rojas. The food was really outstanding. The queso fundido came swimming in its own fat and the flour tortillas that came with them were obviously toasted on a greasy griddle. At first I balked, but then I remembered my culinary training and the adage "Fat equals flavor", and oh was this dish delicious. I think the calories could have kept a basketball team fed for a week but it was yummy. The enchilladas were also delicious mainly due to the wonderfully intricate rojas sauce that it was served with. The chef said he toasts the five different chiles that are used in the sauce giving it extra flavor. The chicken itself should have been shredded to make it a little more tender and easier to eat but the dish was good. I have high hopes that this restaurant will get over its birth pains and find a way to get the waitress to develop a more friendly demeanor. The food here is worth a try. read more

I went here with my dad and brother. I'm Mexican. I think these were the worst tacos I've had in years. I ordered 1 steak, 1 al pastor, and 1 Indio taco. I took a bite of the al pastor, and I swear I tasted what reminded me of car oil. You know what slightly burnt smell at the mechanics? That's what I tasted in that bite. The other two tacos were below average in taste. I didn't leave feeling satisfied. I left feeling like I had a bad taste in my mouth. I drove here and picked up based on other reviews. The tacos are delicious! We tried steak, chicken, pastor and Chile rellenos. All are great. And you have to get the guacamole. We ordered a tray of 20 tacos and wings for the first time. We just moved to the dunning neighborhood and haven't found an authentic, great tasting taqueria until now. We decided to order delivery for Halloween and gave specific instructions on how crispy to cook the meat as my wife won't eat well done unless it's crispy, they did not disappoint. We bought eighteen tacos from this taqueria for pick up as soon as we get home we noticed tortillas were recooked. Not all the tacos some of the other tacos you could notice were fresh tortilla. Meat was ok. I make a phone call to the restaurant the lady told me to bring tacos back but see it's a rainy day and with my two kids didn't go back. This is one of the very few Mexican food establishments that will still sell you a taco for 1.00, and guess what there pretty decent tacos. They cook the tortillas over a hot flat top with corn oil. The tortillas get nice and soft it adds flavor to the taco. Stick to the tacos. I don't know about there Italian menu section. Memo should remove the Italian and seafood items from his menu and concentrate all his efforts into his tacos. If memo keeps his menu simple, and he makes sure he is keen on only tacos, I think he can draw more people to his establishment. read more

Ordered steak tacos and al pastor tacos and honestly they weren't all that great. Everything was lacking flavor and just was over powered with cilantro. No salt at all. The steak was so tough, there was more tendons and fat than anything else. Memo's Tacos are not for me. Maybe I will try something else on their menu next time.
