This has been one of my favorite stores since high school! They always have fun items in here! Sometimes it's a bit pricey but you can find some cool stuff. You can buy shoes, clothes, cards, etc. They have a few pieces of an item and the girl at the counter told me that sometimes an item will sell out in 3 days or 6 months! Turnover of items really just depends. I love this store and I think a lot of people shop here. There are always handfuls of customers in here. The customer service is also fantastic! Much like the cool vibes that is Bardstown, this boutique is right out of my dreams. Pop in for a unique gift for a friend or splurge a little on yourself. Prices points vary starting with options like cards, magnets or small ornament on up with midrange eclectic housewares (such as the asian paint by number floral scene I HAD to have) on up with your favorite new outfit complete with shoes to match. My daughter scored a flattering pair of navy and red pin striped bell bottoms in sale for 50% off. There was a beautiful red beaded necklace that my friend suggested would make a great pair of earrings, so I snagged the last two and plan on converting them. Eclectic boutique with a true Highland hippy / boho vibe with a dash of high-end and fashion forward garments thrown in the mix. Jewelry, unique gifts and homewares are abundant too. Staff is friendly and they have a little café'. I feel a little bad because I was prompted to write a review because I felt customer's need to be aware they have a very strict 14 day return policy. Keep this in mind when Christmas or special event shopping - I was advised when they refused my Christmas gift return the week of New Year's, that in the future I should make sure that my purchases are made with-in 14 days prior to Christmas. Nearly every merchant in our area has an extended holiday return date and this store doesn't actually give you your money back, all returns are store credit, so they have your money regardless. The item I purchased was a unique item my granddaughter saw during Bardstown Road Aglow and it was the last one, I was shocked that it was still at the store when I stopped in, and felt if I waited it would likely not have been available if left thru the weekend. Unfortunately, she loved the skirt, but it didn't fit, bummer, no one else is even close to her size so I can't even re-gift it. Also make sure you allow yourself a buffer, due to illness, we had to push our Christmas celebration till the following week, which added a whole week to the anticipated return date. read more

Dot Fox is kind of like the definition of the Highlands, in a very fashion forward way. They have the cutest and unique stuff in their store! I came in just to browse and was immediately intrigued the moment I walked through the door. The woman working in the store was welcoming and friendly to us, offering help if needed. A majority of this shop is clothing, but they also have incense, jewelry and fun gifts you can buy. It seems like their prices aren't too bad either! And the clothes are reaally cute! This is a great shop to expand your wardrobe with, or to find a quirky gift for someone. No matter the reason, I still recommend you check it out! read more

Dot Fox is another charming little hippy store on Bardstown Road in Louisville. I popped in with a friend and was greeted by the woman at the register. There was lots of women's clothing, but also a variety for men as well. There were jewelry cases and lots of knick knacks in between. There are a few steps that lead up to more clothing options and also a small fitting room. There were hats as well as shoes as well. The prices seemed fair and pretty on-par for the other similar shops on Bardstown road. If you're perusing the shops on this road, I definitely would recommend spending some time in Dot Fox. read more

There is no better place for those of us 'non-millionaire fashionistas' to rock the goddamned Casbah!! Le Proprietress is a godsend and she hires good folks. It's my go-to in a pinch as well, because they're going to have sumpin' that will make me fit in a the "paisley and platinum" party my BFF just told me had a theme on the way. And , confession, I sometimes shop as retail therapy. Having a spot with the classics and classy that ain't gon burn my $150 that this emotionally taxing day has budgeted, and a kind (srsly she's like a kitten with arms long enough for hugs), compassionate owner helping me. I have lots of more hipster friends that love this little Highlands boutique but it's just okay to me. I've been here many times and only bought one thing ever. The staff is extremely friendly but the clothing is over priced and not particularly my style. I do like some of their shoes and accessories and on occasion they have a good sale. If you like vintage - check it out! In the back of the store they have an all vintage rack that is pretty cool. I did see a pair of fringe ankle booties that were super cute but they were $58 and not worth that price in my opinion. (fake suede material). read more

Dot Fox is a real charmer. I recently became aware of a California brand - Nooworks, and became instantly obsessed. The women-run business boasts collaborations with artists to produce their original and quirky fabrics. I kept thinking, "why haven't I seen amazing things like this in Louisville?" The answer: I hadn't walked into Dot Fox. This place melds amazing brands that you haven't yet discovered with local artists' finds. You are immersed in a cultural experience when you walk into this small shop. The staff is lovely and enjoys chatting with you about new items or their favorites. The first time I came here the place was packed. It's a small place so literally 10 people inside can overwhelm it. I took a look at a couple of things, decided the effort of pushing through people was too much effort, and left without much of a feeling one way or the other. This time around I had misplaced my sunglasses earlier in the day and remembered seeing a display of them here. I walked in and it was virtually empty. Now I had time to browse and see everything without worrying about stepping on peoples toes. The selection is good, there is a mix of styles and price points. Leans toward the younger hippie/hipster style more than sophisticated/professional, which works for this area of Louisville. Employees are definitely hands-off, but polite when you need them. I got a pair of cute sunglasses for $12 and a leather belt for $22. There is a tiny area for shoes and men's clothing, but the shop mainly focuses on women's clothes and accessories. read more

Dot Fox definitely keeps "Louisville weird" -- in a great way. It's the kind of business that Bardstown Road was developed for. I just love walking in and getting lost in perusing their purses, clothes, shoes, jewelry and other unique finds. And the store is rather small -- though larger than some other boutiques on Bardstown Road -- yet I can spend a good 45 minutes in there. On my most recent visit, I was on the hunt for a new purse, and Dot Fox did not disappoint. I found my new bag -- a mid-size gray and brown number -- among several that were marked 50 percent off. I'm not sure if it was new or used, but it looked new to me. And overall their purses were priced between $20 and $50, which means you can switch up your carryall quite often without breaking the bank. Dot Fox also has a ton of pretty jewelry that's decently priced. I've bought many a necklace and birthday present there. The salespeople have always been polite and helpful too, and Dot Fox also carries men's clothes and accessories. So ladies, your beaus don't have to sit outside the changing room, looking bored and whipped, while you have a ball making your fashion picks. read more

Every time I stop in to this boutique, I am reminded about how ridiculous price inflation is in places more urban or faschionable (my personal adjective for places where all the employees are unsmiling, the styles are the same as every other trendhole, and clothes are only available in miniature model sizes.) Inevitably I come in under the premise of gift shopping, and then end up buying things for myself instead. Here, you'll find lots of cute jewelry under $10 as well as reasonably priced purses and accessories, so you can avoid feeling guilty about spending money you don't have. The clothing ranges from acceptably to heinously trendy, catering to both _Vogue_ devotees and uncaring, lackadaisical shoppers like me. You'll find some high-end, pricey items as well as steals, with most of the clothing moderately priced (for Louisville--if you're used to shopping in bigger cities, your jaw will drop at how comparatively cheap everything is.) Unfortunately, as with many boutiques, there are usually only a couple of items available in any given clothing style, so sometimes you end up SOL if they're sold out of your size. The staff is not snobby as you may have come to expect in a boutique, but they are still generally hands off, so you'll need to solicit help if you want it. I'm so used to pushy salespeople, I find the laissez-faire approach a relief, but I know others prefer more interactive experiences. read more

This place is awesome. I had free time to kill so my friend who lives in the Highlands suggested parking on Bardstown and walking around. I really like Dot Fox- more so since they moved locations and have more room. They carry a couple brands I like, and I occasionally come across a really awesome t-shirt. A lot of their clothes are super trendy, but there are quirky pieces mixed in. The worst part is they usually only have one of each size in stock and when it's gone, it's gone. If the owner is around, she is very friendly and helpful. Other staff members are more laid back, but happy to chat if you want to. This is like every trendy hipster's dream shop. They have cute knick knacks, incense, soaps, and decor. Plus, lots of prints and cards from Rifle and Co. I picked up a few cards for upcoming occasions. I also grabbed a cool Bill Murray magnet. They have lots of clothing, shoes, scarves, jewelry, and accessories. It leans toward dresses with fringe, cute textures and patterns, and embroidered things. Trendy, hippie, flowly items. I also found a cute fanny pack for my sister. They have cool chunky jewelry - lots with gemstones and dangly earrings. Definitely stop in and spend some time scouring their store. There's loads of really cute stuff in this boutique and I love the spontaneous, I-just-threw-together-the-displays look and feel of the shop. It makes me feel more at home while I'm browsing. Plus, the friendliness of the staff definitely adds to that comfortability! I went in on a mission for earrings and it was really successful thanks to help from the girl who was working at the time. She pointed me in the right direction towards the earthy style wooden earrings I was after and chatted with me about her favorites. I bought a pair made by a local artist for $16. Not a horrible price, but definitely not a steal. I'll be back for more of the unique locally made jewelry. They have a great selection of men's clothing, which can be hard to find when you're just poking into random shops. This place is great. I went here looking for Christmas gifts, and found stuff for me instead! Ah, the dangers of shopping. There was beautiful jewelry, cute sunglasses, shoes, knick-knacks, dressed (sadly way too expensive for me to get as a gift) and things from local artists. I could have kept walking around this store and kept finding more adorable stuff, but instead left with just some socks and handmade soap. Just big enough to give you lots of options, but small enough so that you're not overwhelmed by the amount of merchandise. The last two times I've been in there the cashiers have been extraordinarily kind and helpful.
