For the early stages of the project Angel was the primary foreman of the job. Angel was very friendly and respectful. My contract started on January 17 2026 with a promise of 17 days from start of project to end of project. It is now September and my project is still not finished. To start, Shaun was to submit the package to Gentry Homeowners association to install synthetic grass at my home, but did not explain the details of the work on how it was to drain. The package was disapproved on February 9th. At that time I told Shaun not to do any work on my property (except the tree removal) until the homeowners association approved the work. So he did the tree removal and without approval from me or the homeowners association, dug up the grass in by backyard and attempted to level the area. Even though this was not to my liking at the time we still wanted the service to continue so I wrote and resubmitted the synthetic grass installation package to the homeowners association with a full explanation of service Design Build Landscape had promised me and also gave a copy of the letter to Shaun in good faith letting him know how to submit the package to the homeowners association in the future. Gentry Homeowners Association approved the work on March 23, 2026. I then told Shaun that we were approved to continue the work. Also by this time I had already paid Design Build Landscape about 20,000 of the 40,000 agreed to in the contract. As time went on, Shaun kept asking for things and money for my project and before I knew it I was purchasing items that Design Build Landscape should have been purchasing for this project along with giving Shaun other payments for his work. After reviewing my receipts and checks I see that I paid Design Build landscape over 38,000 of the 40,000 promised in the contract. Once I brought that to his attention and told hime that I would not pay him anymore until the project is completed the work also slowed to a crawl. When workers did show up it was mostly late arrivals and rushed work. Weeks went by with no-one showing up. Instead of making good on the work he began to make excuses like the weather, family issues etc. In short, when the money runs out so does he and you will not hear from him anymore because he ignores your text or has blocked your calls. His team left behind a lot of equipment and trash in my yard. Since hiring Design Build Landscape I have nothing but heart ache with his company. He might do other people right if it is a quick job like a patio or a driveway, but not any big jobs. Like I said early he talks a good game until the money runs out and so does he. I send another text Friday morning again asking if anytime works for them for us to come by and almost instantly receive a text back saying they will only be there Sunday from 10-1. OK, I then ask if they happen to have any of the plants I am looking for just so I don't go out there and waste both of our time. They said they have to check. Great! We're getting somewhere! No response back again. Later that evening I shoot them another text just to see if they had the time to see if they had any in stock. Now if the possibility was there that I was about to sell a $200 plant to someone I would try to do my best to at the very least FIND OUT if we have the plant in stock. No response. Saturday I send another message asking what time is best to come by on Sunday. Tells me that they're at the farmers market today and that any time works on Sunday between 10-1. A 3 hour window. Well, being on vacation I already have plans at that time, go figure. I ask if they happen to have any rare plants at the farmers market but they said no, BUT they do have 2 smaller plants that I am looking for in stock. YES! I ask them how much the plant is going to cost because I prefer to pay in cash, nothing. I ask if they happen to ship to the mainland because I'm obviously not going to be able to go in there to look at it. Maybe I can just pay them for it and have them ship it... no response. This is Saturday afternoon. Saturday evening I ask if they will be there Monday? All they say is they will be there Sunday. OK. Once again I ask for the price of the plant at 8:22 AM and nothing. No response. I text them AGAIN at 1:52 asking if they are at the business because my diving trip was over and thought maybe I could catch them and instantly I get a text back saying no. I send 3 more messages over the course of the day asking if Monday would work, if they knew the price, and informing them that I do leave on Tuesday and would love a chance to see them before I leave, once again hoping we can come to an agreement so I can buy this pricey plant. Nothing. Today, Monday, I send them another message at 8:30 AM to see if I can come by some time today to look at the plants and almost instantly I get a text back saying that their niece is in the ER and won't be able to make it in. I understand that, but every other time I have tried to reach out to set something up I get nothing. It seems that it was easy enough to instantly respond to some of my messages but to some it wasn't worth it. I am not difficult to work with and I was extremely nice and patient in our conversations and nothing. It wasn't like I was going to waste their time; this is a dream plant of mine and was prepared to spend A LOT of money on it. I just think business could have been conducted a lot better. TBH, I was only expecting to pick up a few sheets of grass, but to my surprise and deep gratitude he was kind enough to give me a lot more sheets and again apologized for the last order.
