After trying various ways of growing grass for our front yard, we came across Hawaiian Turfgrass. They answered all questions and concerns we had and even went to their location to see the grass in person. I put a simple request in of exactly how much SOD I needed, he was the 1st person and the only person to NOT give me a run around. My exact questions were sent to several business and they give my all kinds of answers or things I had to do to get back with them. The place is tucked away at the end of Mehuela in Mililani , you go through a security check point then go in to their area for your purchase. I have purchased grass for my home in Ewa a few years ago. The grass was fantastic. I purchased a small amount for one side of my yard here in Kaneohe in Nov. of 2021. Once again. No issues. Fantastic product. I had no complaints. Then I ordered a bunch for around my new pool Sept. 9th 2022. I immedately started having trouble. When I emailed I was given a couple of ideas of what was going on. I bought the products suggested. But my grass died. So less than a month $500 down the drain. If my grass had died say 6 months after purchase, I'd say ok. Sometimes crap happens. But one month after. The entire product died. I asked for it to be replaced and they said no. That's pretty crappy customer service to me. I'm very dissapointed and when I can replace this grass (which won't happen for a long time) I guess I'll go shopping elsewhere. read more

I've been meaning to review Sean and his team since they installed my Zeon Zoysia grass. But procrastination gets the best of us. They did a great job and were very quick to respond to my inquiries whether from email, cell, or text. Our family is very happy with the job they've done and the quality of work. One of the good things I remember is Sean helped me weeks after installation with tips, hints, and answered all of my questions. I recently have been having problems with overwatering (combination of bad weather, less sun than normal, and family members insisting on watering how they always water without compensating for the other factors). Over the course of the last 15 yrs, Kylinga, Nutgrass, and 4 dogs conspired to destroy the award-winning Z3 lawn we had going in the back yard. Wife said to fix it, so I started looking at new grass. Since we have dogs that use the space, we wanted an option that would be relatively quick to get installed, be Kapolei-sun tolerant, weed-restricting, and dog/traffic friendly. Growing up, we had Zoysia (temple grass) that exhibited all those qualities but got clumpy and was pokey to play on, so we were initially avoiding it. After some research, however, we found Zeon Zoysia at Hawaiian Turfgrass which overcomes even these deficiencies. They have an installation video that is very well done, at least to the point I felt I could do it myself. The kicker was when we found a 25% off coupon in the Sunday paper! That was all the activation energy I needed. Here's how it went: Day 1) shut off sprinklers, then poison with Roundup +1 week) scalp lawn with mower, poison +1 week) scalp again, poison +1 week) scalp again +1 week) rent tiller from Home Depot ($107/day), till, use a bow rake to pull all the rocks and plant material out, take it to Waimanalo Gulch landfill, order grass for +1 week +1 week) make sure sprinklers are working properly, rent roller from Home Depot ($25/day), go to Hawaiian Earth products and get the Lawn and Garden blend ($41/yd) to add 1" of top dressing, level/roll it in. That afternoon, take delivery of the grass, and place it on the prepared lawn, cutting holes for the sprinklers. Roll it in. Boom. Instant lawn. Since the dogs were in the kennel during any work and for a couple hours after poisoning, they were not in the way or up to mischief. We ordered a bit too much, so we planted our neighbor's small front yard, too. Sean at Hawaiian Turfgrass was very helpful thru the process. I love gardening, so I was willing to spend the money on sod, versus plugs. I purchased 1,584 sq. ft. of sod, at $2.00 a sq. ft., so you do the math. Their grass was top quality, the greenest green I've ever seen. No weeds, and you can really see the quality of the grass on the bottom, as it is grown on plastic, rather then cutting it from the ground. After 3 weeks, the grass still looks great, and as green as when it arrived, and is already starting to root in to the ground (I had to dig up some when installing a fence). Two points I was pleased about. I ordered the first 1,200 sq ft. first thing in the morning (right when they opened), and they delivered it shortly thereafter. I finished installing all that grass by about 2:30, and called Hawaiian Turfgrass to see if I could get an additional 384 sq. ft. that same day. Low and behold, they brought out the additional grass at about 4:00 pm. Secondly, they recognized how much money I spent, and provided free delivery both times (that is not the norm). read more

Sean by far has given thee best customer service I've had in a while he answered the million questions I had and was very patient and explained everything to me and made me feel comfortable with choosing his company as I was shopping around to get the best rate possible with the best grass. He explained that they grow they're grass on plastic and not in the ground and why it was better. He sent a brochure with several pictures of the different grass. His crew was awesome they showed up and unloaded & moved all the grass to wear we needed it which made it so much easier. The grass is so beautiful my kids and I absolutely are in love with it. Whenever I called he answered his phone quick.. like after 1 or 2 rings! He was very knowledgeable and accurate with the amount of sod we needed for our yard. He even told us how many trips it would take to transport the sod in our Tacoma. He also gave us suggestions on where to purchase top soil for an affordable price and how much top soil we would need. In 2012, had Hawaiian Turfgrass install irrigation and 1700 sf of sod. Originally we wanted El Toro sod, but Sean Fong "sold us" on planting his"Grand Tif Bermuda". It has been a maintenance nightmare, for 6 years we were spending $250 a month trying to maintain. We gave up since there are more weeds than grass. We are now looking at complete restoration with El Toro. The irrigation he installed, modified from landscape architect irrigation design, which he said was overkill, we supplied all irrigation supplies per drawings. Now another $6,000 read more
