After dropping off my motorcycle, I expected a basic update regarding the status of the work. Instead, I found myself having to call multiple times to check on the progress. On several occasions, it seemed as though staff were too busy to provide updates or follow through on promised callbacks. While I eventually received information regarding my motorcycle, the lack of proactive communication made the process unnecessarily frustrating. The facility itself is impressive, clean, and representative of the Ducati brand. Unfortunately, the customer service experience did not reflect the same level of professionalism. A simple courtesy phone call or email update can make a significant difference in maintaining customer confidence and satisfaction. In any service oriented business, customers should not have to repeatedly reach out for basic status updates. Improved communication and follow up procedures would go a long way toward enhancing the overall customer experience. I hope Ducati Detroit takes this feedback constructively, as the dealership has the potential to provide a service experience that matches the quality and reputation of the motorcycles it sells and supports.

When I contacted Alexander Samul the owner of the company he claimed he was not making enough money on the deal and I now needed to send him the money via zelle, cash app, or PayPal friends and family so he could avoid paying taxes and "keep it off the books" as he put it. What kind of legit business asks a complete stranger they've never met in person to send them 2800 dollars thru cash app to pay for a bike they've not even seen in person yet? He couldn't even stick to the agreement we made a mere 3 hours prior and canceled the invoice he sent me without telling me. This Owner of Detroit Moped Works lied to me and did not keep his word. He then tried to justify his lies by saying things change and we didn't have any type of legal agreement to purchase the bike. Where I come from a man's word means everything and this guy is giving small business's everywhere a bad name by not honoring the agreement we made. He then cried the blues about how he could barely keep the lights on and just needed to make payroll which seemed like a very odd and unprofessional thing to do for a business owner. I contacted him to purchase a bike not be his therapist. There was nothing complicated or personal about this transaction. I was trying to purchase a Bike from Detroit Moped Works a retail shop that sells bikes, mopeds, and scooters, why would that be so complicated for them. They tried to change their story later when I called them out on what they were doing by saying it was a personal transaction when clearly it was not. In fact the bike I was going to purchase is for sale inside his store Detroit moped works so why would it be a personal transaction. They sent me an invoice to pay for the bike that was from the company Detroit Moped Works, again not something that would indicate a personal transaction. The words "off the books" were his words not mine as you can see from screenshot below. If your intention was not to operate "off the books" then why would you say that and use those exact words? Sure sounds like the owner is lying yet again. They continued to lie about what happened by saying the invoice was revised, the invoice was not revised because I asked for an extra day, in fact it wasn't revised at all. It was cancelled altogether because the owner became upset and thru a temper tantrum because he said he wasn't making enough money. Cancelling an official invoice from the business and asking someone to cash app or zelle you personally so you can avoid the taxes and credit card fees is not what I call revising the invoice. This business says they operate with professionalism so why does the owner not show that same professionalism. The bigger question is why is the owner of Detroit Moped Works selling bikes from his own shop personally off the books? That does not sound like a legit business operating on the up and up to me. The invoice I received from him was from the company Detroit Moped Works. That would indicate it's NOT some type of personal transaction. I'll attach a copy of the invoice received from Detroit Moped Works to purchase the bike. I want to be very clear. This did NOT happen because of any type of miscommunication. The owner of Detroit Moped Works straight up lied to me and backed out of the deal we made because he was greedy and decided he wanted to make more money from the transaction.

My Purchasing Experience with Detroit Iron…read more I have purchased many ATVs and motorcycles over the years, and my experience with Detroit Iron was by far the worst. I initially called about a brand-new 2024 Kawasaki KRX they had advertised. I confirmed with John Hunter in sales that the unit was new, in good condition, available, and asked for confirmation of the out-the-door price. I explained that I lived 180 miles away and needed to know if there were any issues before making the trip. This conversation took place on a Friday, and I told him I would be there the following Tuesday. When I arrived, the KRX was parked by the road and was extremely filthy--so dirty that I wouldn't even sit in it. At that point I should have walked away, but after driving 180 miles I stayed. John took it across the street to a car wash. Once it returned, I inspected it more closely and found tarnished engine components, rusty fasteners, and engine oil that looked milky. I told John I was disappointed and planned to pass on the machine due to its condition. He then asked if I would consider buying it at a lower price. Against my better judgment, I agreed, including the purchase of an additional one-year warranty--another mistake. On the second day of ownership, the machine would not start. I contacted John and was told I would need to bring it back. Between dropping it off and picking it up, I drove 720 miles, and when I asked if Detroit Iron would help with transportation, I was told no. After five weeks, I ultimately had the machine repaired locally. It required a starter and relay replacement, with the issue traced to corrosion, which I strongly believe resulted from the unit being stored next to a busy road before purchase. Overall, this was a very disappointing experience, and I would not recommend Detroit Iron based on the condition of the unit sold and the lack of support afterward.

My expectations were a little low, as my only previous experience was picking up a bike my friend bought, many years ago at a different dealer (unnamed), which was less than pleasant. Wolverine is a different animal altogether. The staff was incredibly friendly, helpful, and enthusiastic. They made what can be a somewhat intimidating experience for a "newbie" into something that got me excited to participate more. They knew from the initial conversation that I had just bought a bike and was not in the market, just "kicking tires," but treated me as if I'd just bought the top of the line bike from them. The store was clean, well organized, and both gorgeous and cozy...kind of hard to explain, but it'll make sense if you're there, lol. Absolutely the best dealership experience I've had of any kind, including the service at a (again unnamed) luxury car dealership a month or so before for a new car I'd picked up.

I've been trying to get a hold of these guys all week for a repair on my foreign bike. Between them not returning phone calls or just not answering their phone repeatedly they must be either really really busy or just have really poor customer service. I'm guessing the latter. I began calling other shops in the area and realized that DB's prices were alot steeper for comparative work. I also found that depending on who I talked to at DBs, that the price fluctuated for their services that should've been a flat rate and were elsewhere. I felt that they really didn't want or need my business. Sorry to say but I'm done with them.

They even found a "repair" that my old dealership had done wrong, filed a claim with Polaris, and ordered the parts to fix it. This is what EVERY dealership should be like! Made excuses about being short staffed but I did manage to get a test ride. Went to pay for the bike and they would not accept my method of payment. Left empty handed to possibly purchase later with a different payment method. Went to the competition instead and they were happy to sell me the same make/model bike, one model year newer and for less money. Glad I did not purchase at Spartan and will never do business with them even for parts or small accessories.
