Went in here based on the reviews. Was hard to locate the place, since the board with the restaurant's name is practically invisible when you are driving down the road. After the owner, Jeffrey reached out to me, apologizing for my bad experience at Double Ai. I decided to go back. Upon arrival, Jeffrey offered some cold sake excellent. We sat inside with a beautiful view of the lake. My wife and I ordered the ordered the Gyoza which was excellent. Entrées. My wife ordered salmon teriyaki which she loved. Ate the whole thing. I ordered the prawns and walnut that was off the charts. Sarah, our survey was excellent. She was very attentive and made sure we had whatever we needed. And the ambience needless to say was superb I mean a view of the lake, come on what can I say it was beautiful. All in all we had a wonderful meal, and I will definitely recommend and return to that restaurant as many times as I can. I am a big fan of Chinese, Japanese, and Thai food. We love this place. The outside needs some updating and may not portray the restaurant well. The food is always fresh. We especially like the pad thai. Portions are big and the prices are fair. We have eaten here a few times and it is always very good. The food is always consistent and they have some great veggie choices at great prices. The portions are a good size. I love their hot and sour soup! If you go in the summer there is outside seating with a water view which is wonderful. It's also better to sit out there because a few times there were large parties inside this small place and it got very loud. Quick tip! If the weather is nice drive up the street to Terhune park for a beautiful walk after your meal. Especially if your a dog lover, look up the parks history! Went again yesterday when they just opened in the ice storm, they were still cleaning when we got there and I was floored by the detail they give into keeping it clean there! Excellent. Was really excited to try here after hearing good things. My friend and I each ordered a sushi roll along with an entree since it was our first time. Lunch comes with a choice of egg roll, soup or salad. Sushi was DELICIOUS and the actual entrees (general Tso shrimp and sesame shrimp) were pretty average. A lot of people rave about this place frequently so I figured I'd give it a shot. My fiance and I ordered a couple of different rolls, both regular and special, and shared them all. I have to say that I was really disappointed because everything I tried was average at best. The freshness factor wasn't optimal, which is probably what turned me off. From this initial visit, I don't understand why anyone would go here for sushi when there are so many tastier and fresher options in the area. Double Ai is the perfect place to go for dinner when the weather is nice. Their outdoor patio overlooks the water, and the sky is beautiful during sunset. Their indoor area could use some work, but it's not terrible if it's your only option. The portions here are big and the prices are very reasonable. I love their Wonton soup, Gyoza, and Drunken Noodles with beef. The service can be a little slow at times, because they are usually pretty crowded, but overall I really like this place. read more

This place wasn't what I expected it to be. customer service was friendly the host was absolutely wonderful. But the food quality just wasn't there tonight. The tea was not normally included as most restaurants will include. I favor the eggroll in the wonton everything else was subpar. This place is absolutely fantastic! It has amazing food and an amazing staff. My fiancé and I had our rehearsal dinner there and Jeff was so nice and easy to work with! He helped me chose my menu, he was super attentive to all the details and all the staff the day of were fantastic! This is one of my favorite restaurant and definitely my favorite Asian restaurant! Lunch with a friend - came early and had a beautiful view of the river. I went with the Sushi lunch - $10! What a bargain!! 2 rolls, miso soup and a salad. Sushi Rolls were fresh and delicious. I should have ordered 3 which is only a $1 more at lunch. So tasty and satisfying. Miso soup was just the right amount of salt, which I appreciated not too crazy. Salad was good, just basic with the dressing which is all you need. We had tea afterward and it was fresh brewed and the pot was left at the table (see photo). My friend had General Tao's chicke. And also got rave reviews. They didn't rush us as we caught up and the server was so sweet and nice. Food came out fast, but not pushy. What draws me to Double Ai in the summer is the patio lake front seating, byob, and the crispy bbq chicken. Hands down the best in the area. Super saucy at times, order extra white rice to soak it up. Let downs include spotty service, long waits for outdoor seating, and an interior that is stuffy and in need of finish upgrades. Rugs in a restaurant? Parking lot is great. Just watch pulling out of the lot. Good for delivery, but the popularity on a Friday night create long delivery times. read more

I eat here all the time and it's always a great experience. All the staff are extremely nice and welcoming and the food is outstanding. If you are into sushi try some of the special Rolls like the winter roll or jumbo Godzilla or even a manhattan roll which has yellowtail, salmon and tuna with mango inside. As for the Chinese everything is great. Personally my favorite is the sesame chicken and an app of Schwan water dumplings. Yum. Definitely check this place out if you have never been :) read more

I have ordered for takeout here now 3 times and I think now this is the best Chinese/ Japanese restaurant in my vicinity. Oddly enough I was in the mood for Chinese food and didn't realize that this place had Chinese on their menu since my wife was in the mood for sushi, so we gave it a shot last week and were thoroughly impressed. It's been quite frustrating living in the Bloomingdale, Riverdale, Butler Wayne area as other Yelpers have noted there just aren't any good Chinese restaurants in this part of the state. So for those of you who aren't familiar with this place I've given you the answer to your craving. Note: the sushi is very good but not the greatest but the Chinese cuisine is out of this world and they are not stingy and use Fresh all white meat chicken!! Hah They go the extra mile with their service and though they aren't cheap it is well worth it. Went for dinner last night and had a shirt wait for an outside table not a big deal. My daughter and I get seated and basically forgot about. Yes, it was busy but no noodles brought, no water and waited fir 20 minutes before a frantic waiter approached table and we place appetizers and told to order sushi too because they were very backed up. Ok so appetizers come and are good but left out that tar tar had eel sauce all over it which not described on menu. Now it's vary dark when sushi-comes and then we need to wait because no dish for soy so got up and got ourselves. Sushi was not as good as I've have there on many other visits. Rolls were small and sushimi not as buttery as it should have been , very tough. Couldn't get anyone for check so grabbed man lighting torches just to get out being it's after 9 pm. Update to previous visit over a year ago. Sat outside which is always nice but chairs frayed and falling apart. Ordered 3 special rolls that were extremely over sauced wilth spicy mayo and eal sauce that was not listed indescription on menu. Very disappointing. read more

The food is third class. We went Sunday. The food was not only NOT fresh but tasteless. Must have been prepared way in advance. Service was not attentive, but nowadays everybody is shorthanded so that would not be a problem for us as we were not on the clock. The views are beautiful. Definitely off my list. read more
