I signed up for personal training at what I understood was a flat rate. After learning about additional charges that were never explained to me when I signed up (80 dollar initial scan fee, 50 dollars a month for inbody scan, 3% processing charge, 80 dollar gym membership) I was very alarmed. I thought I was signing up for a flat rate of 640, but with the additional charges it ended up being 800 dollars a month - none of this was outlined in the contract I signed. When I asked him to send me the contract so I could verify the fees are not in the contract, he refused and said it was all explained verbally to me (which is 100% a lie and if it were true, it's unethical to charge customers based on 'verbal' agreements). He ended up not charging me for two months of the gym - which if it would have ended there I would have been completely fine and not feel the need to write this. I decided to complete my 3 month contract and after that I would not be able to financially support 800 a month and would no longer be signing up for additional months. When I informed Taylor I would be cancelling I received an e-mail with a notice of my cancellation and in the notes "Has been a pain in the a** since day 1" when I confronted him about this he said "oh it's just a jovial joke, you know", didn't apologize! and went on to belittle me saying I am the problem and he never has issues like this. I have never felt so disrespected and talked down to in my entire life. All I was trying to do was understand additional charges that were not in my contract nor communicated to me and instead of realizing there is a gap in his business model he shifts the blame to me "I've never had this problem with anyone but you". Just so disrespectful, I am extremely appalled. I would never ever recommend anyone doing business with Taylor. This is not how you treat someone paying you 800 dollars a month. And to anyone from the gym who is going to respond to this.... it isn't about the money, it's about being ethical with your contracts and how you treated me. Five stars for the gym, equipment, and my amazing trainer. Zero stars for the way they treat their customers.

From minor one to the end it was constant movement. I do like switching between treadmill and weights. I run a lot, so the treadmill was great and felt so good. The weights part was sssoooo good! I never do weight workouts, and this one got me! It's the best kind of pain! My muscles were sore for the next two days, which is exactly what I want in a workout. I like that the lights are red in the classroom, but I will say the music was deafening loud, I had to cover my ears at one point. Next time I know to just bring my loops. By the second class, i had a better idea of what was going on and could follow the workout better (which it is a great workout) but it still felt rushed and all of the place and no one is very friendly here. One guy was on his phone texting for the entire class and it was a bit distracting. But the instructors and loud music is cool, and the workout is pretty good.

I recently visited the gym for a class with Stacey, and I had a great experience from start to…read morefinish. The class was challenging, fun, and energizing, and Stacey was an excellent instructor. After class, Rachel gave us a tour of the facility and was incredibly welcoming and friendly, just like the rest of the staff. The gym itself is beautiful, modern, and exceptionally clean. I especially loved the white and tan interior design--it creates a bright, upscale atmosphere. The women's locker room is impressive, featuring lockers for personal belongings, a sauna, and a cold plunge. There are also convenient water refill stations throughout the gym. One of the most unique features is the slide, which definitely adds some personality and fun to the space! There's also an outdoor workout area in the corner for anyone who prefers exercising outside. Overall, Recess offers a great combination of high-quality fitness classes, excellent amenities, and a welcoming community. I would definitely recommend checking it out.

Small but nice workout place near where I work in Uptown off Oak Lawn Avenue. You can do training with him or workout on your own. Covered parking is under the building (pic included) and you can access the gym pretty much any time with a key FOB (pic also included). There's a fair amount of cardio equipment, weights (free & machine), kettle bells, etc. There are also 2 showers with restrooms so you can clean up if you're heading back to work. Not a typical chain gym and usually not very crowded, so I love it being close to my office.

Signing up for classes was a breeze, and the waiver process was so simple it felt like I didn't even do anything. You might think that part isn't a big deal, but if you know, you know -- a messy sign-up can ruin the whole vibe. Here, it was smooth and stress-free. The studio is spotless, and the bathrooms? Immaculate. One of the coolest parts was the owner, Jackie. She hung around after class and actually took the time to talk with us, sharing the backstory of how the gym started, what the mission is, and how they built the community. You don't get that personal touch everywhere, and it made the whole experience feel that much more welcoming. Now for the workout. This one was no joke. They hit us with nine minutes of abs at the end, and I'm not gonna lie... the second they announced it, I considered walking out the door.
