Just updating my previous review. The Skills class today was awesome! The trainers really care that you don't hurt yourself, but they also want you to work to the best of your ability. Everyone is encouraging, and I've never been in a session where I felt intimated, or where there were the "Do you even lift, bro?" sort of folks. If you walk in & have never done CrossFit before, but think: "Hey, I'm in shape. Piece of cake!", prepare to have your butt handed to you! You will sweat from places you never knew you had! The great new thing is that they've partnered with local eateries in MidTown/Downtown to come up with Paleo Bowls or Paleo Rolls (for sushi) that help you eat clean without giving up flavor. Several people went & got bowls today that smelled so wonderful! Full of kale & chicken! Mmmm! But this isn't a food review! Bottom line is that they have classes starting super early, and classes for all skill levels. The Masters Class is perfect for those starting out, so you WON'T get hurt "doing CrossFit". And don't be surprised when a woman twice your age can bench press like a boss!

What does membership cost per month?

There are a lot of variables such as how many times you want to go to how long you want to purchase. I think it varies from $25 per visit to $99 or $159 per month depending on what you are looking for.

During that visit, one of the coaches, Javi, made comments that were completely inappropriate for an adult in a position of trust. He told my daughter she "fights like a ghetto Black girl," which is an unacceptable and offensive remark to make to any child. He then had my 13-year-old daughter call me on the phone. During that interaction, he asked her to show him my social media pictures and told her he wanted me to have his babies. I have never met this man in my life. When I gave him no attention, he reportedly told my daughter, "Tell her never mind. She looks like she's an attention-seeking mother." I cannot understand why an adult coach would involve a minor in a personal conversation about her mother or make comments like these to a child. Coaches are supposed to mentor, encourage, and create a safe environment not put children in the middle of inappropriate personal interactions. I sincerely hope UFC Gym Reno takes this complaint seriously and investigates what happened. Parents should be able to trust that their children are in a safe, respectful, and professional environment.

Walking almost every day wasn't enough to keep me fit and it became obvious motivation to work on my overall health and fitness was necessary. My trainer at Performance EDU (Collin LaPorte) has the experience and training to help me work on various parts of my body, focusing on different muscle groups each session. My best friend has been working out here for two years so this recommendation comes from her as well. Watching all the different fitness coaches here work with people who have varying degrees of endurance and goals reassures me that they all are capable at what they do. The same facility houses a Physical Therapist business, which I personally have not used but my friend has and notes how both the PT's and fitness coaches communicate and work together for the well being of each client.

The owner, Matt, was quick to respond when I gave the gym a call and provided amazing customer service! He even swung by the gym and introduced himself. Gym is fully equipped with several cardio machines (stairmaster, bikes, treadmills), free weights, benches, turf area, cable machines, resistance machines, two squat racks and much more. In addition, for an extra cost, you can have access to their Recovery Room which has infrared saunas, compression boots for lowerbody (I believe hips too), and massage guns. There are also small lockers that are available for use during your workout. The gym is very clean and all of the equipment is well-maintained. This is my first time at a privately owned gym and I can see why people lean towards em. If you're local, I HIGHLY recommend checking this place out and getting a membership. I will definitely be coming back here anytime I'm up here visiting! Thanks again, Matt!! Other notes if you've made it this far in the review: gym is easy to find, parking wasn't an issue on a Friday morning, music plays in the gym at an appropriate level in case you forget your headphones lol, they have a built-in water dispenser, sanitizer wipes are conveniently placed everywhere throughout the gym and are well-stocked, a lot of natural light coming through the windows, has a lot of other workout equipment that most gyms don't have. For the rest, you'll just have to come and check it out yourself! Again, HIGHLY recommend this gym!

What I like most is the community. There are people who have been coming here for years, people who know each other, and a huge range of ages and fitness levels. Classes feel like classes rather than anonymous rooms full of people staring at a screen. Is the facility brand new and gleaming? Absolutely not. Some of it has some age on it, and if your priority is the newest possible equipment in a spotless modern box, there are newer gyms in Reno. But Caughlin has something those places often don't: character, a ridiculous number of ways to actually use your membership, and the feeling of a real club. Come for a workout, take a class, swim, hit the sauna, play tennis, and suddenly you've been here half the day. That's kind of the point.
