LoL, I knew better, but size was on F'n Door,,, Showed him, He Didn't say a word, ????? LoL, I Bought tires here, had em service many of our cars, trucks, trailers. For over 30yrs. Not no more. Day before, went in to see if they wanted my old tires, that I bought from them, I thought they might resale and make a buck, put it toward mounting these new tires, I didn't care for em they were lt285's, I bought them from these guys for $45 ea. Didn't care for ride with em on. My truck took these new lt245's, Wanted em swapped. Asked Owner, if he wanted em back, Owner said, Aw, out of Luck,,, just bought a crapload of used tires,,, He didn't want my tires he sold me for $45 ea.,, I was just not wanting to toss em,,, Ok, Then I asked how much just to swap them,He said $60,,,for all 4, And $2 ea. To keep my old Tires!!!! He didn't want to buy or pay for my tires or give me credit. He wanted me to give him 2 bucks ea to take em back and SELL EM TO YOU FOR $45!!! My son was in need of a few used tires so he went to Double J at 52nd and Holgate street to purchase the tires. The sold him 4 used tires and he left with them. He kept having to put air in them. Finally I told home to go get new tires. He went to a different place and when the man started changing them he found tacks and nails in all of them!! He is livid about this as he carries his little girl in that car! Anything could have happened! I told him to call the BBB and let them know just how sleazy companies can be! Visited again today with some freshly painted classic car rims -- asked that they be extra careful to not scratch them. I have been here three times over the last couple years. Twice for leaks and most recently, because I blew out my tire hitting a curb in the snow :( . Had them look over my tires expecting to have to replace all 4 but they checked and told me the truth that only 2 needed replacing and that I can wait about half a year to check the other 2. They were professional, patient, and knowledgeable. They also gave me the option of new or used and showed me all my options up close for me to inspect. Straight forward no nonsense used tire shop. I went in on a Saturday morning for a spare tire replacement. I had the spare off and rolled it to the office waiting my turn. They were obviously very busy. When someone was available they let me know they had one in front of me. Showed the guy my spare that needed replacing. He went straight into the back and grabbed one. $40 for everything and the tire actually had better tread than the one being replaced. They knocked it out real quick and set it next to my truck. Yay, 4 stars. I came out and went to put it under my truck where there is a crank type of thing that pulls it up to the bottom of the truck for stowing. It is easy enough and I intended on taking care of that part myself. The 5 star part of the service part kicked in. One of the guys saw me getting my crank together and came over and said "You should have said you wanted it under the truck." He said he would take care of it and he promptly assembled the crank and proceeded to load the tire to the underside of my truck. Some may quibble about they should have asked or guessed it being stowed. Like I mentioned before, I seriously had no problem with doing it myself. I really say kudos to the fact an employee saw me getting ready to do it and came over of their own initiative and knocked it out. Definitely will return to this place. read more

I'm from Oakland, CA and am on tour with my band. We were about to make our way from Portland to Seattle when we became aware that we had a leak in one of our tires. We came across Double J online and called ahead, and they told us to come by. When we got there we were greeted immediately, directed to a station, and they went right to removing and patching our tire. All in all the work took about 15 minutes, and we were even given a good deal ($8 against the advertised $15). I get the feeling that they knew that we are a bunch of starving young musicians, and helped us out. Great group of guys, fast quality work, and prices you can't beat! read more

Grimy, but good price for used tires. I got two front tires with probably 70% tread left, balanced and mounted for $60. I also had a tire that was shaky on the highway due to my having put Fix-a-Flat in it at one point. They took the tire off, washed it out and re-mounted it for $6! One of the best customer service experiences I've ever had anywhere! I was told by my dealership that I needed four new tires and received quotes from them, then was fortunately recommended to Double Js by a friend. I was greeted and asked if I needed help before I even made it all the way to the office door. I showed them my dealership quotes and 15 minutes and 2-3 phone calls later they gave me a quote just shy of $250 CHEAPER than my dealership with labor included. I got two used front tires earlier today from Double J. They were so fast and so reasonably priced! Jesse helped me, and he was super professional and helpful. I ended up getting a matching used set of from tires for $42 each. And they only charge $8 for a flat repair. Way better than the $210 I was quoted by Les Schwab. I realize these tires are used, but they look almost new and they come with a 30 day guarantee. I'm pretty stoked, and if for some reason anything goes horribly wrong, I'll revise my review, but so far so good! read more

I'm 100% clueless when it comes to my car. But it's been acting funny and thought it just needed an oil change, headed down to oil can Henry's and they told me it was really messed up (I think she referred to it as a death trap??) and that the main cause might be because one of my tires was shredding on the inside. They told me to drive safe and to head to double J's to get some new tires. The guys here are quite the characters but totally sweet, pointed out to me what was wrong + told me that my transmission would be in trouble if I kept driving on these small poor tires. They hooked me up for two "new to me" used tires for $62. They look brand new, and it completely fixed the loud noise that was happening beneath my car! Fingers crossed that's all that it takes. UPDATE: had a slow leak, or at least a tire that kept going flat. The guys at double J, checked out my tire and found nothing wrong with it, but were happy to seal it up and send me on my way within 10 minutes and for only $8. I went to Double J when I needed new tires on a budget, based on all the positive reviews here. I got a set of new-looking tires for much less than new ones and started to drive away, happy with my bargain...until something felt not quite right...then REALLY WRONG. Turns out they FORGOT TO PUT THE LUG NUTS BACK ON my rear driver's side wheel, and it had almost completely fallen off. I was a couple blocks away and called the shop. They sent a guy up to fix it with whatever lug nuts he could grab quickly and had me come back to put the right ones on. The hub cap disappeared in this ordeal, so they refunded me $20 and told me where to go to get a new one. I was not happy about all of this, but I was willing to chalk it up to a one-time mistake based on all the positive reviews. Then I went to Les Schwab to inquire about an alignment and have them take a look to make sure nothing was damaged. The tech looked at it and immediately said they had used the wrong type of lug nuts for my car, which could cause them to loosen over time. So I took it back to Double J and explained what the other tech said (backed up by my own research), and they tried to tell me what they did was right. I insisted that I could see with my own eyes that it was wrong (they held up two different types of lug nuts and tried to tell me they were the same). They finally agreed to replace them with the right kind, but the guy wanted me to go buy them and get reimbursed because they didn't have any on hand (what happened to the ones I drove in with???). Luckily his boss told him to go to the store himself. He replaced the lug nuts and I drove away hopeful that I was done with this ordeal. Then today (several weeks later) I had a brake inspection and the mechanic told me that one of my wheels didn't have any balancing weights on it. Guess which one? Yup, same one they forgot to secure to my car before allowing me to drive off the lot. I don't want to pay someone else to fix what they screwed up, but I also don't want to deal with those idiots again. I guess a lot of people have positive experiences there, but do you want to be the next one they make a mistake on? read more
