I recently started having issues with my Mini Cooper. Every time I got gas, it had a hard start, and it kept getting worse until one day it actually shut off. This was just a couple hundred miles before my warranty expired, so I knew I needed to get it looked at immediately. I found Sun Auto Service through my CarMax warranty as a preferred vendor. The reviews were solid, so I chose them. The main person I worked with was Cody, and he was excellent. As a woman, it can be difficult to find an auto shop where you do not feel talked down to or pressured into unnecessary repairs. That was not my experience here at all. Cody was transparent and straightforward. He clearly explained what needed attention now versus what could wait a few months. No pressure, no condescension. They had my car for about two weeks, which I understand is normal given how many variables can cause starting issues like that. I explained that my warranty was about to expire and asked them to be thorough. They absolutely were. They identified nearly $3,000 worth of repairs, all of which were covered under warranty. They handled the entire claims process. I never had to contact the warranty company once. I simply paid my deductible and was on my way. Everything felt professional, organized, and above board. Was told over the phone that an alignment would be $90, got there and the price was $150 because I have "modified suspension". My 07 Tacoma has struts from a different year Tacoma, that's it, everything else is bone stock under there. I understand that some vehicles with modified suspension can have a harder time taking an alignment and they might have to try twice, but all I needed was a toe check and to have my steering wheel straightened! Easy easy job on any car. Ended up walking out on principle. If they'd quoted me $150 over the phone I'd happily paid them. Never make a price decision at an auto shop, so many are trained to nickel and dime you, if you start to cave at all they will just keep going with it. read more

Overpriced, incompetent, liars! They left my vehicle in worse condition than when I brought it in. If I could leave 0 stars I would. I brought my Honda CRX in to have it serviced as I was having issues with my distributor. I told them this when I brought it in but it still took them two days to diagnose the issue, they also convinced me that I needed a new brake master cylinder despite my brakes working fine when I brought it in, I authorized this repair which was a big mistake, as when I got my car back the brakes no longer functioned, causing me to almost crash and injure myself. The car was in their own words "scary to drive". Why they returned it to me in this unsafe condition I have no idea. They tried to say the car was like that when I brought it in despite this being my daily driver. After bringing the vehicle back to fix their shoddy work, they then claimed that I needed a new brake booster which they said would be another $900, even though this part only cost about $100. I took it in to another auto shop for a second opinion, only to find out that my brake booster was completely fine, and the unsafe braking condition was due to the defective brake master cylinder that they installed. After the other shop replaced the defective brake master cylinder installed by Sun Auto, for a much cheaper price, safe braking function was restored to the vehicle. They wanted to charge me more money for a part that did not need to be replaced and refused to fix their mistakes. I had initially called in letting them know I was looking for car maintenance because my car was letting me know it was probably due for an oil change. I told them over the phone I didn't trust my dealers prices so I was looking for a new home to get all my car stuff done. This place had high reviews so I was excited to try. Unfortunately, the customer service I received was straight up sales man. They're go to brand must be KUMHO because that's what they wanted to sell me in the 5 min I was there. They used the same kind of words other places used trying to rush me into making a decision. I already knew 2 tires need change but my other two tires are still good since I bought Michelin tires 2 years ago but he was like the other two tires are already borderline (which is false) and they recommend all 4 tires. He was even going to give me a "deal" 4 tires (with an old change for $50) I told them for now I just wanted my oil changed and to make sure all my fluids were good. I also needed a headlight bulb fixed. But the prices for the oil change and the headlight was already over $160 and I asked them if they had any deals going on they said NO and so I decided to just get my oil changed. He quoted me for $99.99 and it was going to take about 90 min. I stayed there already upset and overwhelmed by the information. So I started doing my research and saw that they currently had a coupon for full synthetic oil change for $49.99. Thankfully the oil change only took like 30-45 min, but if I didn't advocate for myself it was totally predatory behavior. read more

This place used to be great. I brought my car here for over 7 years for everything. They used to be up front, honest and prompt. No complaints. About a year ago a new manager came and it went downhill. They lost me as a customer a few months ago when they took 9 days to do a repair. When I picked it up it came out that they had bumped me a few times to service other cars. The manager was very condescending and when I voiced my displeasure that they had bumped a loyal customer for over a week he started raising his voice at me and making excuses. Then to top it off I had a long road trip the next day and my car broke down on the freeway within 30 minutes due to their faulty work. They didn't tighten a transmission fluid cap and it blew off on the freeway and all the transmission fluid leaked out of my car. I had to have it towed to another Sun Auto location where they confirmed the faulty work of the Sandy location. Do not go here. read more

Came in to get some overdue maintenance done, took 2 days which is understandable because there was a lot to do. During this time, they broke a wiper, and failed to properly secure the front carriage splash shield, which ended up coming loose on the freeway. Next time I came back, it took an entire day to check for an oil leak, replace the wiper, and replace the shield that had fallen off. We dropped off the car at 8 am, were called at 5 that we could come pick up the car, and at 6 pm, we were still waiting to get our car back because they had yet to actually secure the splash shield. Maybe they had a busy day, but watching the mechanic lower the car for 10 minutes and take a smoke break, and raise it again to finish the job while we were already there waiting was not a great thing to see. I booked an appointment for an oil change here through CarAdvise. When I arrived at the shop they told me they had no record of my appointment but that they'd get me taken care of. When I notified them it was through CarAdvise, they suddenly told me they could not take care of me, that I'd have to reschedule and drop the car off on another morning and leave it for the entire day. When I tried to ask why they needed my car for the entire day, they could not give an adequate answer beyond something vague about "needing to inspect the vehicle." As I continued to press them and ask questions, it came out that processing the payment through CarAdvise was simply an annoyance they didn't want to deal with. I am absolutely livid with the way I was treated at this shop and find it incredibly unfair that they refused to honor my appointment or my CarAdvise discount because it was an inconvenience for them. 0 stars, DO NOT GO HERE. read more

I was disappointed in the repair at Sun Auto. After paying $2387.27, the car had to be towed back within 24 hours. After several more days looking for the problem, I had the car towed to the Mazda Dealer. Repair was done correctly and in a timely manner. Most troubling was the transmission flush done at Sun Auto. Beware. Based on the positive reviews, I brought in a cleanly punctured tire for a patch for my first visit to the place since they changed names. The next day they called and said it was not repairable because it was a run-flat, and they can only be driven on flat once. Not only that, I'd need to replace all four tires because it's an AWD vehicle. Even though the tires only had 5K miles on them. Not having thought about it, I took their word for it and told them to just dispose of it, and I'd decide what I wanted to replace them with. Then I went to the dealer just to verify that I'd need to drop all that money. First, the tire was not a run-flat. Second, there was so little wear on the tires that I could easily just replace the one without causing any problems for the AWD. So, I basically just threw away a good tire that could've been patched and nearly dropped over a grand on a new set. Instead, I just replaced the missing tire with a new one for a couple hundred bucks (that I still didn't need to spend). Sheesh. Tire places. Amirite? read more

Everyone there is SO kind and relatable (shoutout to Sarah for going above and beyond to make the experience enjoyable). It speaks for itself. but explanation and details follow the email contents I've copied here: "Jeremy, Despite our wide disagreement with the quoted vs. billed figures (for the second time in our business relationship in just 5 weeks on two different cars) on last Thursday's (8-3-2023) work on my Mazda tribute, which could be easily resolved with the recording of our phone conversation that you will not produce, the original complaint I brought the car in for, check engine light on, which you "fixed" by installing a new water pump (despite a diagnostic code of P0171 reading which indicates the system is running lean on bank one, a power train issue) , resulted in the light returning "on" in 18 miles after your work to resolve the issue the car was brought in for. These incidences speak for themselves and your business practices, clearly not a satisfactory outcome for any customer." Details: -brought car in on 8/3/23, 7:15am, for check engine light on. At 10:25am Jeremy called to give me a quote of $1072.33 which wrote down (still have the slip of paper with the quote written down) for repair of the water pump and the details. -the check engine code was P0171, which indicates a problem with the fuel system running to lean. He actually told me this water pump repair would fix the check engine light issue, I said that has nothing to do with the fuel issue, he said it would fix the check engine light. I gave him the chance to prove it by giving an OK to do the work, and email me a quote for the $1072.33 as stated. -At 11:08am Jeremy emailed me an itemized quote for $1772.33 for the work I OKed at $1072.33. I called him that afternoon to question why it wasn't the amount he originally quoted. He said he did quote the higher amount, not the amount I wrote down in our conversation, but he can resolve this later in the day by checking the recording they make of phone calls (to obviously protect themselves from someone who says they did not OK the work, can't blame them) and we'll settle the dispute later with this recording when I come in to pick up the car. -when I came to pick up the car at 5:30pm, he told me that we can't settle the disagreement since "corporate" would not let him have the recording which could prove he either did/did not quote the higher figure, or the lower figure I wrote down. I showed him the slip I wrote the quote down on during our conversation, didn't matter, he insisted he never said what I wrote down. I asked him to continue to try and get it so we can resolve the disagreement. If he is correct, the recording would verify his quote and the mistake is clearly mine, for which I would apologize for my error. He said he would continue to try and get it. A week later, no contact from Sun Auto. Not expecting any. I have a feeling it would be easily produced if I claimed I never OKed the job and will not pay as invoiced. -I paid the bill to get my car back after he offered to take $200.00 off the higher figure, just slightly more than the 10% coupon discount card from their mass mailing I had in my hand (which would have been $170.00 off). - Upshot; the check engine light was off when I picked up the car. It's easily turned off/reset with the scanner that records the code, or just to remove the negative battery cable momentarily to reset the car computer, but check engine light came back on in 18 miles after pickup. So problem misdiagnosed, not fixed, and a large dispute over what they quoted and billed remains unresolved to their favor. Not a surprise. -I've done business at this location for 3 years, and the problems started when Sun Auto bought the business earlier this year. Since they took over, this is the second time they gave a quote and billed at a higher figure than the quote, they did this on 6/29/23 with my wife's car. Not so with Point S prior. Quoted one price and billed a much higher number when I came back for my vehicle. After explaining the higher price difference they honored the original price and reminded me that the phone calls are recorded.( thanks for making me feel like the crook here) Also to make it more inconvenient I Came to do routine maintenance and left with a more expensive damage that they deny causing. Vehicle had zero issues prior to servicing but it is currently being repaired by different shop for 200 less then what they quote me to fix the damage that I didn't have before coming here. This place was a big headache and I question the integrity here. The work was bad and if they simply checked the work they did I wouldn't have had to come back multiple times to tell them it's not fixed. Terrible experience. Will never come back. I waited 2.5 hours for an oil change. I had a 50% off coupon and it still came out to $65. So a regular oil change is $130? Crazy! Also, they wanted me to do a diagnostic test for $140 about a noise and seemed genuinely concerned. On my drive home, the noise is worse and more frequent. Very frustrating experience. LIFE-SAVERS! My partner and I were on a trip to Portland from the Seattle area, and one of my tires popped around 4:30pm on a Saturday, when all of the tire shops were closing for the weekend. Since we were planning on driving back to Seattle the next day, we were feeling rather frantic to find help. So I have been using Point S for about 10 years usually buy tires and just get rotation, or fix a flat Today I needed an alignment and rotation and was quoted about 2 hours. After 21/2 hours I strolled in after killing the Better half of my day waiting outside, and then upon arriving they inform me during a multiple point inspection I need air filters, cylinder 3 is bad, and all this ridiculous stuff when all I asked for was a rotation and alignment. If you're looking for a shop with friendly, knowledgeable, honest employees then this is where you want to come to get your vehicle serviced. (September 2014) I called ahead for an appointment (thank goodness!) because they were busier than I had expected for a Monday mid-morning. The manager Brett checked me and gave me a time estimate. They have free-ride service, but I decided to hang out for the estimated 90 minutes. I needed a flat tire repaired, tire rotation and oil change. There are plenty of stores/restaurants within walking distance, which is great for people who don't want to just sit and wait. But if you do stay, there are plenty of chairs (pretty comfy) and a TV, even though it was turned off during my visit. Great customer service, friendly staff. Brett is great, he gave me a good deal on my SUV oil change and he let me know that I should probably consider getting new brake pads in 30-60 days. It's very rare that I actually walk out of an auto repair shop feeling like I got a great deal and great service, but I definitely left here as a happy customer. And I'll definitely be a repeat customer, if the prices and service are always this good. read more
