They are currently renovating their usual space but this is open with limited flavors. My friends and I had the cherry chip and butter pecan flavors in cups. Establishment is clean, there are little shops nearby, cafes, and parking is somewhat easy to find. The interior has so many cool items either hanging in the air or on walls and you must check out the clock wall...just like the wall clocks that show times in different countries, this shows t current time at Hogwarts, Emerald City, Mordor, etc. and they are very friendly. I recommend this shop for sure

On a summer weekday night located in a busier of area of San Rafael was filled with many young people. The cafe/ice cream shop connects to a next door market/art shop. There was a vintage/retro vibe, with red and white striped chairs and plaid-like tables. My friend and I shared a medium ice creams, with flavors butter pecan and mint chocolate chip. I wish they would've served a bit more for the scoops for the price we paid, but the ice cream was delicious nonetheless. The mint chocolate chip was tasty, and I wish that the butter pecan was slightly more rich. I would like to try their cappuccino chocolate ice cream flavor next time.

We have drove by this place quite a few times and finally stopped in to try their ice cream. Right when you walk in it is so colorful and fun! There is a lot of art within the space that really gives it a unique feel. We looked at all the ice cream options and the service was great. Will definitely be stopping in again soon.

No idea why Yelp has this awesome cafe and Ice Cream spot marked as closed! Very much open. Lots of indoor seating. Extremely friendly and helpful workers. No idea why people go to cold stone when double rainbow is here.

This ice cream is to die for! Good: - Good prices on scoops and had a yelp discount - The strawberry and cookies and cream ice cream were the best I'd had in a very long time! Thoughrouly impressed and it was not too sweet and fluffy - Super fun and nice servers - let us have samples too Bad: - Long lines here! - Pretty casual diner ambiance here Overall would come back - the ice cream is super good and satisfied my cravings perfectly.

We're visiting the area and wanted something sweet after dinner so came here after reading some reviews. We were greeted as soon as we walked in and helped right away. Very friendly employees. We got a couple tastes of flavors and made our choices. I got an ice cream cookie sandwich with strawberry ice cream. I was told the cookies were just made. For me, the ice cream was over the top sweet and didn't taste like strawberry. It was also super soft which meant one bite into the sandwich and it all came out. The chocolate chip cookie was ok - I gave Randy one of them and he loved it. I would have preferred a flat, thin cookie instead of a thicker, crispy cookie. Might have made eating the sandwich more doable. Maybe. Randy got a hot fudge sundae with ultra chocolate (his take: not very chocolatey) and coffee blast (doesn't taste like coffee at all). Cute shop and very friendly and helpful employees - and good cookie, per Randy - makes this three stars for us. LOVE all the rainbow gear and the support of the awesome lgbtq+ community but we won't go back.

Ambiance: 4/5 Nice retro feel to the place. Love the hand written menus. The cafe hade colorful outdoor seating. Food: 4/5 Ice cream was yummy and a good portion, but melted fairly quickly. Very reasonable price. Service: 1.5/5 Were not that friendly. Overall rating would be 3.5. I would go back if I was in the area and craving a cool sweet treat. Would like to try their nondairy options!

I was super disappointed in my experience at Double Rainbow Cafe. The ice cream was ok, but super overpriced for 1/4 a cup of ice cream. The servers were also extremely rude, and it was pretty funny overhearing them trying to educate latinas about spices.

Food: So frickinggg yummy and affordable (for me i think so. It was like $5). You can also ask for samples before buy. Services: the lady that serve me was so nice and sweet. I could try sm ice cream but i didn't cs it felt weird. Ambiance: so chill such a good place. btw u can fit like abt 3 diff ice cream in a small cup which i love cs u can try many flavors. Also right amount of ice cream!!

A great ice cream parlor where you can choose any flavor they provide. They have great customer service and the atmosphere changes during day time to night time. The price is quite high to buy ice cream compared to buying from the supermarket but I'm sure the experience is worth it.

Double Rainbow Cafe in downtown San Rafael isn't as shiny as it could be, but I'm giving it five stars nonetheless. In all the years we've visited, we've always received friendly service, their ice cream selection is top notch and the owner, Forest also happens to support California Coastal Clean-Up and other local causes. During our last visit, Andre (like the Giant, but smaller - his words, not mine) was minding the counter and while we were a little indecisive, I watched him step the guests in front of us through their choices. The woman ahead of us had chosen one of the oat milk flavors for a shake and he offered her a choice of non-dairy milks. They make our fashioned shakes with the tins and mixer. My son went with their peanut butter and jelly flavor, which features raspberry jam. The strawberry flavor was good, but not as standout as many of the others. Cappuccino Chocolate Crunch was Andre's current favorite and it didn't disappoint. Looking at the art on the walls, most of it seems to be from a Dominican College project a few years ago. While the menu is bright and colorful, the place has a hint of being more Velveteen Rabbit than Christmas Eve. There's a lot to be said for a local institution that's family-friendly, open until 10 pm most days with welcoming service and tasty ICE CREAM. I've honestly never explored the menu beyond the ice cream, but I love supporting local and supporting a local business that supports our local community feels even better.

I don't say that lightly. I'll start with Arabic light roast coffee that was a golden color and infused with cardamom. It was exactly what I was looking for that day. It tasted great, and it gave me to pick me up. I needed for the rest of the afternoon. I have never seen coffee that color. It was delightful. As for the fatayer, it is basically the Yemeni version of an empanada. I am very much a savory breakfast person, so this was a special treat. The spices were amazing, and it was cooked to perfection. This is one of the items you can see in the display case that they warm up for you on the spot. There were also many desserts and other food options. I should also note that I ordered on a large tablet display, which included several different drink, and food options. Honestly, the menu was a little bit overwhelming given the number of choices, but it also makes me think that there is so much more that I need to try next time. I needed to get some work done, so I sa myself down on the very comfortable couch, which conveniently contained a Wi-Fi password stuck to the edge of the adjacent table. It was very chill, and if I didn't have an appointment to get you I certainly could've stayed there all day. I am excited to try some other things on the menu and continue to support this local business.

There's street parking, but we parked across the street in the lot by the music shop (it's closed on weekends, which makes it even easier). Zero stress before carbs -- we love to see it. It has that super local, neighborhood energy where everyone clearly knows exactly what they're ordering before they even walk in. Always a good sign. The bread basket? Unreal. The soup was divine -- comforting, flavorful, and exactly what you want on a cozy day. And the bread somehow manages to feel indulgent and wholesome at the same time. Warm, hearty, and clearly made with care. The space itself is just as inviting -- warm, relaxed, and effortlessly charming. And the pastries... they looked dangerous in the best way. I didn't even get one this time, which honestly just means I'm definitely coming back for round two. Already planning my next visit.

My "Soft Scramble" was a pile of astonishment. It was so unrefined that it was an insult the the ingredients. There was nothing soft about the eggs, they were overcooked. The only thing soft on the plate was the watery run-off from the vegetables they heaped into the eggs: Too many chewy mushrooms and HUGE. Too many cherry tomatoes. I had to dig to find the eggs. The leeks were strips of inedible ribbon. The toast? I think it had been toasted yesterday and left on the top of their oven overnight and then reused today. I had to get up from the table and ask for butter to make it edible and still I worried whether I was going to break a crown. The pickled vegetables? Again, HUGE, hard and barely pickled. I will refrain from criticizing the service because they are all unaware of the nightmare in which they are working. Bless their hearts. I was so sad and annoyed. People think they can buy a restaurant with recipes and wholesale accounts and staff and just run it, "business as usual" but they are wrong. I went in and asked if they had sold the restaurant and was told, "yes." I imagine some tech-bro's wife or some hedgefund community doodler wanted a pet project with zero idea about food or food quality or how to treat and retain employees because what happened to MHBB is astonishing. It's rude and insulting to anyone who opened this restaurant and put in their best to keep the name and claim to be catering to the same people. But then again, this is par for the course or, from my vantage point, everything wrong with what's happened in Marin in a nutshell. Faux authenticity. Zero care. This is now all about the money. I will never bother with it again.

Whatever we lacked in Korean or Ethiopian fare we made up for with an abundance of restaurants specializing in food from France and Italy. Amelie Cafe and Wine Bar continues the tradition and I'm not mad about it. With outposts in both San Francisco and New York City, Amelie sports a nice pedigree. The Fairfax location is dialed down a bit - perfect for the neighborhood it serves - and makes for a comfortable place to enjoy any meal however you might happen to appear that day. It's a simple cafe and, though not inexpensive, certainly less so than a trip to Paris. Two of us recently dined here, late afternoon on a weekend, sharing a burger ($23; comes with fries and a salad), a lager ($8; they have no IPA), and boquerones, the latter of which I fully regretted having to share. Whenever I see boquerones ($12) on a menu I cannot look away and in Marin, finding such an offering is a unicorn. Delicious; I might sneak back over solo just to enjoy them again. The burger and fries were also good, with a profile a bit different than what one would get at a non-French-centric spot. Amelie is a good place to drop in before or after a movie or a show in Fairfax and equally wonderful to pop into for a morning coffee drink or an afternoon glass of wine. It's a casual and a perfect fit for Fairfax.

I've had their specialty drinks. I've had their matcha multiple times now -- and it's $6. Six. In Corte Madera. Meanwhile, the $10 matcha down the street isn't even in the same league in terms of quality or balance. That price-to-quality ratio alone should have a line out the door. The space is small -- about five tables inside, four outside -- but it works. There are always a few parking spots nearby. It feels local in a real way, not a curated way. I see familiar baristas when I go in, but I also notice new team members. It feels like a business that's growing, adjusting, trying to get better. They have a rewards program. They're clearly refining their systems. And most importantly, the service never feels complacent. No one acts like they're doing you a favor by taking your order. You're acknowledged. You're treated like your business matters. That difference is subtle -- but it's everything. I genuinely do not understand how this place isn't consistently packed while others with higher prices and less warmth are.
