With, in my opinion, not very great local places to go as a 'local', someone suggested I try this place. I must say, overall a 4 star maybe a little high, but, here are a couple of reasons I gave it a little higher star count. One of the problems with going out in this area, is the lack of adults being the first line as you enter. The little bit of, I don't really care, because it's a part time job, attitude with the younger people at these local establishments is ramped. Walked in with 2 other friends for lunch and the place was actually nice. The hostess was going to seat us st a table that we requested which wasn't cleaned up yet. No problem, the bus boy came and immediately cleaned the table and left the previous check and tip attached to the clipboard. He then said, don't steal the tip, which I took as a little bit of a joke. Then the waitress came by in about 3 seconds and swiped the clipboard with top in tact off the table without saying anything, and that's when I assumed the buy boy wasn't kidding. After a Minut's the waitress came back and asked if we were ready, which we clearly didn't have enough time to look at the menu. I think she really was there for tips and had not very good people skills. I must say the food we all ordered was brought out fairly quick and the burgers 2 of us ordered were excellent. The fries were good, clearly the bottom of the barrel, my friend had about 10 in a cup that were small, probably last of the bunch. Food was brought out on a tray and the burger was just on the tray with no wrapping or napkin type thing to wrap the burger, looked a little unsanitary, but like I said earlier, one of the better burgers I have had. When the check came, it was kind of thrown on the table with no pen to sign the receipt. When I finally went to the desk to get a pen, the one the waitress maybe originally gave me I found on the floor. We paid and left. Please have adults or people at the first line of defense that look and act like they actually care. Just got home and I'm stilled annoyed that we wasted over $60 here this afternoon on lunch. By far the worst service we've ever received at any restaurant and my husband has known the owner for over 20 years. I told him he should pop his head in the kitchen and let you know about this experience but by the time we were done we just wanted to get home. We were ignored the entire time we were here - we sat and watched other tables he sat, have their drink order taken, receive appetizers, and yet we were still sitting waiting for menus. Waitresses looked at our table and hurried past us to go clean up another table. It seemed No one wanted to take our table. Finally we flagged someone over for at least menus. Another 10 mins goes by and still no one took our drink order... what did we do wrong? That's no way to treat a customer, so today was our first and last time here. A simple "hello, we'll be with you shortly" would have been nice.. but it wasn't even that busy to excuse this behavior.. We finally got our food after quite the wait, my husband ordered a cheese steak and got pulled pork. The Mac and cheese was a flavorless over microwaved disaster - I would have preferred kraft. Buffalo chicken GC had 0 flavor and 0 hot sauce. The kids got the wrong sides. None of these issues could be addressed or fixed because we were ignored and avoided for the next half hour. Even when trying to flag someone over we were ignored. Our waitress never checked in to see how everything came out. We waited after being done with our food for almost another 15 mins before I finally asked a bus boy for our check. So to let the blonde hair waitress know - I am not cheap. I left you a $4 tip because that is hands down the worst service I've had. I'm a waitress myself, I would never stiff someone on a tip but this was an absolute joke. I've never felt so unwelcome in a place. Never ever again. Avoid this place if your an average local happy family of four because apparently they'll ignore you endlessly. We had been waiting to come here for a while and finally had the opportunity tonight. From the decor to the waitstaff we're were very pleased. The drink selection was AWESOME and the food was PHENOMENAL. We had the pulled pork egg rolls which were delicious and the giant Bavarian pretzel for our kids. My husband ordered the sampler and loved it all and I ordered the southern Reuben because the waitress suggested it and I was pleasantly surprised with the taste. It was delicious and I had to force myself to save the rest for tomorrow. If you know what true BBQ is, then this is the place. All in all, it was a great experience, delicious food, and the added bonus was to see the owner there working too. Highly recommend this place to anyone. We'll be going back. read more

Not a large selection, but the food was good. Seemed a bit understaffed when we went. The waitress seem very frazzled and unsure, but nice.

Pretty decent, I think. Especially when considering the lack of BBQ options around here. Haven't been to Chumley's yet, however. A bit pricey but that is expected with a meat joint. read more

I've been there a few times, but today might be my last visit. The waitress must have been having a bad day. No smiles, no friendliness. I ordered a side that I didn't care for. I took one bite and asked the waitress if I could switch it out for something else. She refused. What ever happened to pleasing the customer? Try a little harder people! read more

What a wonderful addition to the Warwick Eateries. Great decor, service was good. Food was delicious.

I tried, i really tried. It is with a heavy heart, and a lighter wallet, that i feel compelled to wright this review, my first ever. My lovely girlfriend fell in love with one of their omelettes. So i found my self being dragged back to Double S, week after week for breakfast. I was on a hunt for something i could eat, more importantly for me ! Consistency ! I'm a creature of habit. I first tried the blue berry pancakes, and that first sunday they were good. Ok i should be fine ? Wrong. Next week they were not cooked enough, the blueberries canned compote, not fresh. Figured i would give them one more shot. "Total hubcap". Did i say she loves her omelet ? I went there several more times, and tried different menu items, with similar results. Finally i talked her out of returning. The staff is very polite, however i feel their best skill is apologizing " no fault of their own" for a crap kitchen, and owners that i believe thought they were doing me a favor, by letting me dine there. Spend your money somewhere else in Warwick, of course. read more

All I can say is do not waste your money here. This is hands down THE WORST excuse for a smoke house I have ever been to. My server was nice and accommodating. That's where any positivity can be stated. We had some hush puppies and beer battered onion rings. The hush puppies had a raw dense corn meal inside that I could have mortared a retaining wall with. Both items were deep fried in what only can be described as dirty oil. So I'm at a smoke house right? Gotta have the brisket. What a mistake. It was dry as if it was smoked a day before, left out, put back in a walk in, then plopped into a steam table. I sent it back only to get another with one wet slimy piece on the bottom and three dry strips that resembled the sole of a boot. I truly can't get the taste out of my mouth an hour later. The side of Mac and cheese was like a reheated old piece of lasagna. Not creamy as mac and cheese should be with a nice browned crust on the top. The three bites I had are sitting in my stomach like a rock. My wife had a stuffed burger. The beef itself was ok at best ... the pulled pork again was just dry and nasty tasting. The chicken fingers my kids had ... I mean cmon, it's freaking chicken fingers ... what does it take for a restaurant to pound a piece of chicken and egg wash it, and put it in flour and salt and pepper?!!! These again had that spongy frozen taste and the corn meal breading was like eating wet sand. Spending 100 bucks on a burger a three pieces of brisket and some chicken fingers is nuts. We had no alcohol just water and ice tea. If I could induce vomiting right now I would. What a waste of money and a complete insult to anyone who has ever taken pride in barbecue or good smoked food. Trust me avoid this place if you're looking for quality in your meal. read more

well, after giving this place a great review recently, decided to treat my wife to this place. unfortunately, this time, we had a less than favorable experience. the waitress that waited on us, took our beverage and food order but didn't bring our beverage out until I signaled to her. all this time, she walked by us several times to wait on another couple next to us. Because of this, my wife says that she won't be coming back to this place. The food is still good. Hope this was just a fluke. read more

Was really disappointed... I love a good rack of ribs so I was excited when by BF suggested we go for here. The staff was very friendly, place has cute ambiance, flavored popcorn on the table was a nice touch but that's where the compliments end. We ordered a dozen wings with blue cheese dressing and vegetables, "we don't do vegetables" hmmm, no veggies in the salad? Ran out? or don't give them away because it cuts into the profits?? Really? a few carrot sticks and celery would have made them better. They were too hot to eat without a cooling chaser. I ordered a half rack of ribs, came with 2 sides and cornbread. Ribs were a very dry rub and the 4 choices of sauces on the table couldn't help them. They ran out of cornbread, which was another piece I was looking forward too. Did they lose the recipe and couldn't make more? Waitress never mentioned it. I overheard the other waitress at another table tell her customers. When ours didn't arrive, I asked. No cornbread and no other side in it's place. The sides I ordered, cole slaw and corn on the cob were terrible. Cole slaw had way to much vinegar in it and the little piece of corn on the cob was seriously overcooked. Rubbery kernels that stick to your teeth, overcooked. I asked for a different side, because I couldn't eat either of the sides I did get. Asked for mashed potatoes, something wet to help with the dry ribs she says "we have sweet mashed" that was "sweet potatoes, mashed". Not the same thing as sweet, mashed potatoes, and they charged us for them! They weren't terrible but not what I wanted. Maybe dessert can redeem them? Yeah, no. Very limited choices I think 3? I'm hungry after only eating a few ribs, and only a bite or 2 of each of my 3 disappointing sides. I go with the sweet bun. I wasn't Cin-a-bon but I could eat it!! Was dry also but the dollop of whipped cream and the icing on the top make it somewhat enjoyable. If my BF makes me go there again, maybe I'll give the chicken a try. read more

We are BBQ enthusiasts and have been looking for a good place to go when we don't feel like smoking ourselves. We decided to give this place a try. The restaurant was clean and the service was very good. After being seated, we were given a small pail of popcorn, lightly dusted with either paprika, or one of the meat rubs. We ordered iced teas to drink and they came in oversized mason jars and was freshly brewed. I ordered the pulled pork entree and my sides were a baked potato and smoked cauliflower with cheddar. The entree comes with cornbread. The pulled pork was really good. It was not greasy or fatty. A light smoke taste. I used the Carolina sauce on it (you are given 4 on your table) and it was perfect. I loved the smoke flavor on the cauliflower. The cheese sauce on it made it better. And, who doesn't love a baked potato...the cornbread was really good. Slightly dense, the way I like it.
