This XL cheese pizza looks so good, but as other reviewers have been saying for years, it tastes like the main ingredient in their pizza sauce is sugar--it's really unfortunate because this pizza seems to have everything else going for it. The Greek salad looks good, is a big portion, fresh ingredients but (at least on the Uber Eats App) they don't disclose that it has ham AND pepperoni all over it. I ordered 2 XL cheese pizzas and 2 Greek salads for a vegetarian family of 5 tonight and we were all super bummed to find masses of bits of ham buried all throughout (I'm the less picky one would pick it out and eat it if it were possible--it wasn't). I won't be ordering from here again due to the sugary pizza sauce, but if you don't mind that I would suggest you giving it a try! read more

During a weekend overnight at my girlfriend's apartment, I had a craving for pizza. After looking around at the options, I found Double Take Pizza. The website was a bit difficult to understand, especially with the photos with no names, I thought, how can a cheese pizza be messed up? Unfortunately, I was mistaken. On first bite, all I tasted was sweetness. This can be a challenge with some American pizza restaurants. They over-sugar their tomato sauce. Not realizing, this distorts the taste dramatically. They used to have the best cheesy bread in town, downright cravable. The dough is great & made fresh inhouse but over the last 2 times I went it was terrible. The cheese was different. Instead of melty cheese that stretched as you pulled the pieces apart it was dry like there was just a sprinkle or it had baked on or evaporated from the dough & it just tasted salty. Last time I ordered I looked at it & it was that same dry nasty. I asked if they were doing something different. They said they switched to a different cheese. Sadly that was a deal breaker for me. Staff is nice but I need real cheese on my cheesy bread & pizza. They lost my business. read more

I have ordered from Double Take twice so far. They are take-out only, which works for me because we live just a few blocks away. The first time I ordered the meatball trio as a side order since I wasn't overly hungry. It includes meatballs in a thick cheesy tomato sauce. I wasn't crazy about the combo, but the meatballs were good, so I will try their meatball sub or Stromboli sometime. On my most recent visit I had a small pepperoni pizza. It was very good, though not quite as good as one I had at another place I tried. But that had more toppings and a different thickness of crust, so it may not be a fair comparison. (My wife's pizza with homemade crust beats them all, but sometimes it is just easier to order out.) Double Take's version was good, and it is very close to us, so I am sure I will continue to order there. read more

We wanted to love this place because it is within walking distance to our home and they have a decent menu with fair prices. First of all, I wish they had a smaller order of bread, because the bread they have is pretty much just a cheese pizza. Secondly, and most importantly, the sauce. I have a sweet tooth, I love sweet stuff, but the sauce is TOO sweet, it almost tastes like you're eating a dessert. It's hard to eat.. it's unfortunate, because if they offered a different sauce, garlic parm, bbq, Alfredo, whatever, we probably would continue to eat there because the rest of the pizza (crust, cheese, toppings, etc ) is almost perfect. We've given them a few tries now, but after we threw most of the pizza away last time, we won't be able to do it again unless they offer a different sauce. read more

The secret's in the sauce! There's something about Double Take Pizza that keeps us coming back for more. Everything on the menu - pizza, pepperoni rolls, salads and everything else - is super! Every Friday we get a large pepperoni, this is by far the beat pizza we have had since NYC! I am not sure why there are some reviews stating otherwise unless they grew up on domino's and Pizza Hut so think that's what pizza is supposed to taste like. People always say "would you tell your mom to buy from here" and I absolutely would and did. Thank you double take for being part of a family tradition. We had a chicken bacon ranch sub an Italian sub and cheese bread. It was all awesome! The chicken sub was wonderful! The best was perfect and if you love cheese bread theirs is the best in town!! Give them a call and get some of the best takeout around! read more

I was excited to try this place out and recently had the opportunity. I was pleased with how quick and friendly they were with my delivery order. I ordered two small pizzas, the buffalo chicken and the double cheeseburger. They had it to my front door in just over 30 minutes. The pizza was good but nothing spectacular. It was what I'd typically expect from standard pizza places. I was bummed to find that the buffalo chicken consisted of sliced chicken breast and cheese only. There was no buffalo sauce or any sauce for that matter. Ultimately my disappointment lied within the pricing. Two small pizzas came out to almost $40. That's a little ridiculous. I pay that for pizzas that have fresh herbs and specialty toppings. This was just a couple of normal pizzas you see on standard pizza chain menus. I doubt we'll order again at that cost. read more

Kindness that made me tear up The food was great, generous portions reasonable prices. We went with my father in law who is gluten free and there were decent breakfast options. But the service was the best, our server was kind and attentive and was mindful of what we needed. I asked for water to go and mentioned to my husband there was no ice at the air bnb and she came back with a to go cup of ice. I've covered almost all the pizza spots in the area And I not going to name them all but I can say I've paid twice as much for half as much pizza. The cash and carry out deal Kicks Ass $7.99+ large!!!!! I was at a local spot and got charged a very mellow $30.00 for a large pie! Fact is I'm no stranger to a knife and fork and this Pizza was impressive! There location is odd in a shopping center that's half closed but it's worth popping in for the specials. It was the first time that we were trying this location out went to pick up my food there were no signs of social distancing in the windows or protocol for the CDC and nobody inside that work there was wearing masks. The woman with the dirty blond hair and glasses cooking in the back had no gloves on and no mascon while she was making food. Needless to say we were disappointed about this and we did not eat the food that we paid for because if this is what they're doing in the public with dealing with food what are they doingPrivately in their own lives. My first impression was a negative one with Double Take Pizza, but after complaining to management through an email. That email was quickly answered by the owner himself and quickly turned things around for me. All I have to say is Wow! I lived in NYC and tried many different styles of pie you can shake a stick at. Some of the best pizza pies and (and the most expensive) was an establishment in Jackson Heights, Queens aptly named "Queen's Finest Pizza". That was the best pizza I ever had in my life! And coming in at a close second being Double Take Pizza here in Eustis. Double Take Pizza's pies are extremely flavorful and greasy (it's the fatty oils from the cheese that makes it greasy). So you know that they're using real cheese and not some fake Elmer's Glue-like knock off like Pizza Hut and Domino's. Their staff is extremely friendly. And they always have some sort of discount or special running. I would have to say for a mom and pop place, they're keeping up with their competitors without leaving and quality nor customer service in question. I have to say that they are better than Queen's Finest Pizza, because they serve up their pies with the very same delicious quality, but at a fraction of the cost. So if you're craving some true NYC style pizza at a great price with optimal customer service (no need for a "tracking app" there), then look no further than Double Take Pizza. I am new to the area and was looking for a small town pizza shop to support. I went with Double Take and decided to try their wings after reading a good review by others that pointed to their wings. I placed an order for 20 of the BBQ wings expecting some awesome wings. I received two Styrofoam containers with tinfoil in the bottom shaped like a bowl and filled with BBQ sauce. My wings were swimming in BBQ sauce straight from the bottle. The sauce was warm, but you could tell the wings were baked beforehand and then dropped in a "pool" of warmed up sauce. Half the wings were sticking out of the sauce without sauce and what was sauced, I had to wipe off most of the BBQ sauce to taste any of the chicken (which had that baked chicken/zero flavor taste). To the owner, some seasoning (even salt and pepper) on the chicken when you bake it, then tossing the wings in a bowl with a much smaller amount of sauce saves you money and gives us a better experience. If you toss them back in the oven for a few minutes after you toss them in sauce it's even better. Just my 2 cents, it's your business of course. I will give this business another shot on their pizza hoping for better results. At this point though, I wouldn't spend your money on their wings unless what I described is your preference. read more

I generally judge pizza places harshly, but this place, albeit a "hole-in-the-wall" by some standards has got some genuine promise. We called our order in, and, having simple dietary restrictions (vegetarian, hater of mushrooms), they seamlessly completed the phone order in less than 2 minutes. We showed up, and, having come across companies who have made mishaps before, I walked in just to double check before the order was completed and checked up on the no-mushroom-ness of my order. The young black dude (sorry, my friend, I'm absolutely terrible with names, and I hope you'll excuse me, but I'm hoping to get you the recognition you deserve) immediately told me that the pizza was mushroom-less with an assuredness that caught me off-guard, but was fully warranted. As anyone who has issues with certain ingredients can tell you, the urge to anticipate the worst is strong. But I waited. One of the guys in there brought the pizza to our car as a courtesy, since we arrived a bit early and are still doing the whole social distancing thing as best as we can. We went home and dug in. We generally order 2 different pizzas, and share one half with the other. Both pizzas were flavorful, had good cheese, and immediately overtook our impressions of most of the local pizza places. I generally consider that I can make my own pizza exactly how I want for a fraction of the price at any point, but the quickness and ease, not to mention the confidence and professionalism of their staff, makes me want to order from them again when I don't feel particularly domestic. I'm actually excited to order from Double Take again. They did a good job. (OH! One major caveat! Lay off the sugar in your sauce! It's WAAAAY too sweet. Tomatoes are delicious. Tomatoes with less acidity are delicious. Sugary tomatoes are NOT something to be proud of.) read more

There is no better pizza place in all of Florida, amazing sauce, amazing taste all around, amazing service, found the place because my favorite pizza place was closed, and on that day i found the best pizza place in florida, if you go inside, don't think the pizza is gonna be bad because the inside looks cramped and frankly kinda bad, its amazing, and the money deals are even better. Pizza was good pizza. My husband ordered and picked the pizza up and said the missing and or dirty ceiling tiles were not a good sign along with what he said was dirty floors. Double take used to be my favorite pizza place in lake county but unfortunately the place has changed ownership several times in the past couple of years and each time it gets worse! Regardless of what day or time I call in a pickup order I am told nothing less than 45 min to an hour. I could see a Friday night at 6pm being that long of a wait but Sunday at 3 is a bit odd? 45 min for a simple small Stromboli is insane! I will give them this, their food is amazing but maybe the owners should consider hiring more staff to speed up the wait time. I have called several times on weekends and was given 1Hr - 1 1/2 wait and at that point I call other local pizza places. read more
