We finally found a cute/delicious Mexican spot. Close to Cocoa beach but the prices are very reasonable. The interior and exterior decoration is amazing. We loved the ambiance and character. There is plenty of seating and three huge bars. The service here is amazing. While the restaurant is very busy the servers are working very hard to keep things moving. You can see them all walking at high speed and even carrying 5 plates at a time. Very impressive. The salsa was really good with the fresh warm chips. For our entrees we had the Taco Tuesday deal. Three tacos for $9!!! I got carnitas and my husband got beef. They are a good size. Our kids got the chicken tenders and fries. Glad they had something different for kids that don't understand how amazing Mexican food is. For our drinks we got the traditional margaritas and the mix was so good. To finish things off we had to try the fried Icecream and it was enough for 4 people. Our kids tapped out because they were full. Really simple but yummy. Overall with the service, food and ambiance the restaurant is 10/10 for us. We can't wait to return. read more

La Cantina in Cape Canaveral was highly recommended by a friend. 4 of us went on a Tuesday. Well it's a dive and that's not necessarily a bad thing. I just love good food. The service was really good. We ordered and the food came pretty fast. Unfortunately the server asked if we wanted sour cream and guacamole. We said yes. She did not say there would be a charge for these items. I don't mind paying but I would like to know. I ordered the chicken fajitas. It was odd that the chicken was in chunks and not slices. My sizzling plater was so hot that some of the food was black and charred. Other than that that the flavor was good. One of my friends ordered the fish of the day, which was so overcooked it was unpleasant. This place is pretty run down and dingy. It kind of shocks the senses when you first walk in ...but the relaxed atmosphere eventually takes over and you will have a good time. Especially if you hang out on the front patio. It appears that many of the hard core locals gather there and are very welcoming. It's all about drinking a beer, telling stories and laughter. Went to "La Cantina" twice while out in Florida. Right outside Peacock Beach area. Overall, a yummy and quick bite to eat with pretty flavorful food. Our waitresses both times were extremely nice to us, definitely more accommodating when it was a larger party though. This definitely is not authentic Mexican food, however, the food was well seasoned and served on hot plates. The queso was phenomenal and served with free hot chips/cold salsa. Downside is they do not have margaritas, the homemade Sangria was pretty tasty though and they do have cold beers. Definitely worth stopping in if your in the area and want some quick with flavor. My recommendation is the chicken fajitas or the chicken enchiladas. If you are looking for authentic Mexican, keep on driving. If your looking for a relaxing bar with cold beer and decent food, worth the stop. read more

NO BUENO. we have regularly been coming to this restaurant since 2003. it is not unusual for us to eat there several times a week. the food is marginal, but the dive atmosphere and cold draft beer is what makes this place. however, this evening we were treated very poorly by the owner himself and left without ordering any food. we were told we would have a wait for a table (we went late, since it was taco Tuesday). we asked to be placed on the list for a table because eating at the shallow bar is very uncomfortable, particularly for my 90 year old mother. we asked twice to be placed on the waiting list, the second time, we asked the owner who was busy washing silverware directly in front of us. We were not placed on any list. However, two 4 tops that are usually set apart became free and no one was waiting for a table. I asked the owner if we could move there and he said no, it was a six top, we would have to eat at the bar. this may not seem egregious, but the owner was not gracious or friendly in any way. but rather, he acted as if we were putting him out by asking to eat there. this particularly upset my mom, who like me, is from a generation in which people are kind to each other. net - we, nor our guests, will be back. moreover, I will spread the word in Villages of Seaport. enough is enough with people being rude and dismissive, particularly to their customers. read more

Y'all need to relax. Don't know what you were expecting but, this is a good friendly beer bar. Basic at its best. Ice cold beer on tap ... Bud, Bud Light or Amber Bock. That's it. A few bottle choices as well. While the *ahem* "Mexican Food" is tasty - it is far from authentic. My go-to is the burger which you will find is pretty darn good and, given a discussion I heard from the kitchen is fresh beef from a local butcher. The fish sandwich is as good as any in the area and I understand is sourced locally too. (No I am not a shill for the management) So, if you intend to hold this this place to an unreasonable standard please stay away - nobody needs that kind of negativity. It's no secret I have publicly stated on more than one review that I am an aficionado of mom-and-pops and "greasy spoon" establishments. Though there are some appealing attributes to the chains (such as consistency and overall appealing decor) in my mind something is simply missing. What might that be? I think I can sum it up in one word: Character. And this place, La Cantina, has definitely got some character. From the street, the restaurant really isn't much to look at, and for that matter, it's not much to look at from the inside. But what it lacks in beauty and curb appeal, it makes up wholly on, yes, you got it - character. Though a bar definitely predominates over the inside of the locale, there is plenty of seating for the restaurant portion of this place - plenty. And if given a chance, you'd be amazed at how good (and cheap - in a good way) the food really is. My wife had their chimichanga special whereas I had their Juanita Plate (one chicken taco, one beef burritto, and one chicken enchilada). Everything was absolutely delicious, plentiful, and hot (as in it was just cooked an brought to the table immediately.) I really didn't expect this quality and service - it was quite a surprise. Speaking of the service - it was exactly how I like it, friendly, chatty, and super efficient. I wish I could remember her name, but we're planning on going back anyway, so maybe we'll cross paths again. Now, back to the character - what makes this a "different" place is that they will "let" you tape up a dollar bill with a message written on it - anything (and I do mean anything from what I read taped up to the wall.) Okay, folks, don't come to La Cantina expecting a culinary trip to gourmet Mexico. You'll be disappointed like the Yelpers who hold places like this to ridiculously high standards. Look, this place is a neighborhood dive bar at its finest. I went there last night with another couple and we had a good experience. Not an off-the-hook great experience, but we were expecting good and that's exactly what the folks at La Cantina delivered. For that, I give four stars. Our server, Courtney, appeared to be solo on a Wednesday evening, but she held tough and gave us prompt, attentive and cheerful service throughout our meal. As is the custom, we wrote our names on dollar bills and taped them to the ceiling. My wife and I got out of there for $29.00 before tip for two entrees, an extra side, and 6 beers. The entire bill was less than the tip I left the night before for dinner at the Fat Snook. Awesome! If you're a douche bag who thinks every dining experience should be a trip to The Ritz, stay away. been driving past this place for years and finally went in. the food was surprisingly good. Don't get me wrong, it's super basic, but sometimes that's what you want and it's a bonus when the simple, familiar dishes are well prepared. They take a while, but the menu does warn you about the timing upfront. The bar takes up a majority of the space (as it should be by god) and there are plenty of TVs to watch the games. They even have pool and darts (score) in the back. They have domestic drafts and mostly domestic bottles (with a few token Mexican beers). The most important tip I can give is: it's a Packers bar. Had a fun lunch and afternoon in this local hang out. The beer is as cold as their street sign claims ("beer as cold as your ex" ) not making it up - it's that kind of place.
