Came to Doubles on a friday afternoon to co-work with a friend and had a great time! Even though it was packed inside and out, the patio is huge so we were still able to find a spot with room to spread. To eat we both had the love game which is an egg cheese and bacon jam sandwhich with a nice sweetness from the jam and spicy kick from the chilli oil. Was a hearty sandwhich with delicious focaccia with tons of sesame. There was a little snafu with my order being sent in so I had to confirm after 30 minutes of waiting and they resubmitted the ticket and gave me two free drink tokens for the wait -- so kind! Really lovely customer service. I had both an iced espresso tonic and an iced vanilla matcha latte. Both were fab! My only complaint is that drinks here only come in one size and that size isnt big enough for me. Give me the 24 oz of caffinated goodness! Overall loved my food and drinks, the great customer service, and lovely casual vibe. A little crowded but worth the wait. read more

Absolutely love doubles. It's a hipster-chic coffee shop on Georgia Ave. from the same people as Sonny's. Both buildings are connected via the outside area which can get kind of loud. The inside of doubles is intentionally serene and bigger than you'd expect. People read books, manage schoolwork, and catch up over delicious drinks. I like that they sell soda too which is rare at coffee shops. I always visit doubles when I'm in the area!! read more

Went for the first time today and I'd like to think this was a barista issue over shop issue. Our iced latte and iced cortado were watery and had a ton of coffee grounds inside. Looking at other photos, I'm not sure that this is a common occurrence. Despite this, the food was great and so was the ambiance. Very cute shop. read more

Cute cafe with outdoor seating and upstairs seating that has a ping pong table you can actually play!! Not too much indoor seating, but PLENTY of patio tables that shares the space with Sonny's Pizza (same ownder). There's wifi and still + sparkling water station! I've enjoy many different seasonal coffee drinks here. They use Small Planes coffee roaster usually, but do rotate sometimes. Would love to come back to try some food items, which they stop serving around 2pm. read more

Love the vibe at Doubles - great place to chill and hang out on the weekends and also great for coworking during the week. The coffee is a little bit on the fruitier side but I enjoyed it in a latte with their vanilla syrup. I also got the Love Game breakfast sandwich and it was delicious and substantial - specifically the bread was amazing (as to be expected of a place specializing in pizzas). Wow, this might be my favorite cafe in DC! I ordered a vanilla latte and the Shewolf sandwich. The latte was solid. The sandwich was really really good! The wrapper said Sonny's. I didn't realize they are connected so that explains the delicious sandwich. The space has two floors. The people are really nice and the music is not too loud. I liked this place. The baristas were really friendly. If you go on the weekends expect a line as it got super busy but there's also a lot of seating both indoor and outdoor, though finding a plug was a challenge. I enjoyed my drink though I think the size was a little small but I also really recommend you check out the breakfast sandwich, well worth the price! I paid for street parking nearby. Doubles has become one of my go to coffee shops. The lattes are really good and they have a lot of unique syrups. Truthfully, I come here for the vibe more than anything. Their outdoor patio is covered, but still has so much light. I love to come out here and read or work or just catch up with friends. They are a home away from home and offer great coffee service and quality, as well as a number of community events. Love the breakfast sandwiches on focaccia. Love the proper sizes of the drinks, and for here options. Their coffee club is such a great deal. The price increased recently to 40/month. It's a good way to explore coffees at home that you might not have tried on your own. While not all the beans are my favorites, there's never been anything bad (i don't love fruity African coffees, and prefer Latin American beans) They support a lot of local roasters. There's actually a ping pong table upstairs and even when you suck at ping pong and the people drinking or eating get hit by a ball or have to help you grab one that rolled under them, the vibe stays good! You can wait inside with your dog while you order. Pets are allowed on the outdoor patio. Highly recommend ! But- the bathroom situation is not for me. Maybe they've updated since i last used it. But flushing toilet paper was discouraged. I never used it again. Thankfully, that door is closed. read more

I really like doubles - it's cute, the service is good, there's Wi-Fi, and there's always space upstairs downstairs is full. However, I'm not a big fan of their coffee. I appreciate that it's not too sweet. However, it is too bitter than my taste, so if bitter is your thing then this is the perfect spot. read more

The line to place an order was almost to the door, and I think the reason must be because I came on a Sunday morning. I think that the little wait was worth it, and the main reasonis because of theor awesome coffee. Also this cafe is the onky one of its kind as far as the eye can see down Georgia Avenue. A rainy Saturday did not stop me or many others from stopping by this neighborhood coffee shop. It appears to be a go-to spot for solo working with some minimal background noise and casual, low-key meetings. I ordered a latte and the Love Game sandwich. I'm not a picky coffee person so the latte was just fine for me. The sandwich came packaged in Sonny's Pizza wrapping from next-door. I didn't have to wait too long for the drink or food, both hot, comforting additions to the cool day. The sandwich, which contains a slab of fluffy scrambled egg, should be enjoyed fresh. I ate half and then took the other half home. It was still good later, but the focaccia was a little soggier than before. A huge plus is the outdoor space in the back, which has an overhead cover for all the tables. So still good to sit out there on a rainy day! The long tables accommodate larger parties. read more

THE SANDWICH Calling the Love Game sandwich a bacon, egg, and cheese is an understatement (which I say as a New Yorker). There's a perfect balance of cheesiness, bacon + sweetness (probably the tomato jam). The focaccia is crisp + thick but not doughy. I'm not a meat lover, so this sandwich has the perfect amount of bacon for me. THE MATCHA Doubles has some of the BEST matcha in DC. It's smooth and not chalky at all. What a sweet neighborhood spot Doubles is a Columbia Heights classic, with a long interior and neutral vibe. The workers are kind and friendly, even saw some masking (score). They make good coffee art, and have high quality drinks. I have not tried the alcohol there, but the draft system looks impressive. The place is clean and nice. The back garden is amazing- the heat lamps work so well! The tables are pretty wobbly and uncomfortable tho- the vibe in the backyard is giving cafeteria in a not awesome way. Overall, great to set up shop for a study sesh or a book club. There should be some chairs with backs for accessibility, and some hooks on the wall for coats would go a long way. read more

They had exactly what I needed some good black drip coffee and a wonderful piece of coconut banana bread. I am not a huge coconut fan but I like it in moderation. This banana bread was so good! I might start adding a little coconut to my homemade recipe. The service was quick, easy and friendly. They have a small indoor area and an outdoor area as well. I visited Doubles for the first time today (Monday - 11:30am). I went with a fairly simple iced vanilla latte and the "Love Game" sandwich. The iced vanilla latte is served over large ice cubes, which is nice if you're a slow sipper like myself. Smaller ice cubes tend to melt faster, resulting in a watered down iced coffee before its taste can even be enjoyed. The latte was semi-sweet, but the taste of vanilla was hardly distinguishable even from the first sip. I would recommend adding more vanilla syrup. The "Love Game" sandwich, which consists of egg, cheddar, bacon, tomato jam, and chili oil on focaccia, was very tasty. The tomato jam and chili oil gave the traditional bacon/egg/cheese combo a perfectly balanced spicy-sweet addition. I was expecting the sandwich to be about half its size when I ordered, so I was pleasantly surprised to be able to take the other half home for an afternoon snack. By the time I arrived around 11:30am on Monday, the lower floor was full. I didn't check the outdoor patio, but chose to go to the second floor instead. It's a nice size with 6 or 7 two-seater tables and has large windows, which provide lots of natural light. It's worth mentioning that there is a ping-pong table in the center of the floor. If you're visiting to focus, study, or conduct a business meeting, you may be occasionally interrupted by ping-pong players up there. Naturally, people get pretty excited and competitive about ping pong and the balls tend to fly beyond the tables. A few balls bounced on or under my table and the table across from me; not the end of the world, but if you are looking to avoid distractions, I'd suggest sitting on the first level (inside or on the heated patio). Overall, service and food and beverage offerings were pretty good. Lots of available seating and I will definitely come back! read more

I am so grateful to have Doubles as a neighborhood coffee shop. The lavender mint lattes and spacious patio always cheer me up and the wifi helps me meet my productivity goals. I'm also deeply grateful to the staff who treat paying customers graciously in addition to what seems like institutional compassion for our potentially less fortunate/stable neighbors. If I purchase a snack for a hungry neighbor, I have often witnessed staff giving them more and never rushing out patrons who may be dealing with a difficult hand in life. Because of this compassionate attitude that I see on a regular basis, I will always happily spend more at Doubles! read more

The seasonal maple orange cardamom latte was the perfect balance of spice and citrus while still highlighting the espresso. One of my favorite lattes I've had in the city. While I wish I could get it year round, I think the seasonality of it adds to the appeal. The mushroom focaccia was delicious although I wish I got it warmed up (not sure if this is an option or not). There is plenty of seating both inside and out and would make a great work from home or reading spot. The ping pong table upstairs became a little distracting but I think it adds to the ambiance of the space, so if that's not your vibe, I suggest sitting downstairs. I will definitely be back to try their other seasonal drinks and to try one of their breakfast sandwiches, as they look amazing. Lastly, I appreciate how dog friendly Doubles is, I met tons of cute pups and their owners here and it was such a fun moment. It's the perfect covid coffee shop especially during these winter months. There's a heated outdoor back patio with three walls and heated panels blowing hot air from on high. On a cold day you can comfortably sit on one of the wooden patio tables outside albeit still in your winter parka. Vaccination proof required before stepping onto the patio. Very large patio with many a table so you can distance to your heart's content. Friendly down to earth service, excellent coffee. I was quite happy with my oat milk cortado and pear turnover. I attended a very nice wedding after party here this weekend. The food and staff were all awesome! My only issue was the location one block from a park with a lot of drug activity on full display. such a cute coffee shop! it looks small from the outside but is very large on the inside and has a huge outdoor patio in the back as well as seating upstairs. there is wi-fi and more than enough places to sit to do work. they have a great coffee selection, delicious looking pastries, beer/cider, and sandwiches. i ordered the lavender mint latte, as i was curious about that flavor combo. it was fantastic! very well balanced, the mint really added to the lavender flavor so it wasn't too floral or soap-like. it was also really affordable, it was around $5 which for a speciality latte in the city is a fantastic price! the service was also LOVELY. we chatted with the sweetest barista and everyone we ordered from was super helpful and so kind. we sat out back, which is this large lot with lots of picnic tables. really fun spot to go with friends or to WFH! read more
