I wouldn't recommend iced drinks here. My drink, which was supposed to be an iced latte, was served to me warm because I am guessing they poured the hot drink directly on top of very little ice. They also omitted my sweetener, which I did go back and ask them to fix, which they happily did. Pretty expensive for a12 oz drink, but if it was delicious I wouldn't hesitate to go back. I stopped in randomly after lunch and tried their seasonal drink and my friend grabbed a vanilla latte. Both were subpar at best. This was close to my hotel, so I had to try (especially since the hotel coffee was subpar). Slipstream's coffee though, is fantastic. Service was friendly and fast, plus super easy ordering. I came in on a Saturday afternoon with a friend, and while it was crowded we were still able to grab a table up front by the window. It wasn't too loud, as some people were working, but it also wasn't too quiet and most people were able socializing amongst themselves. We placed our order using a QR code, but unfortunately our table didn't have one so we had to use a neighbors (which is okay minus the fact that they will bring your order to that table). My issue with the code was I scanned it for our table and somehow it opened for another location and I accidentally placed my order there? So confusing since it was supposed to be linked to the table. Nonetheless, pay attention and you should be fine! I am pretty obsessed with their magic Matcha because it's a mix of basil and Matcha and it honestly was a very good combination. The food was fine. I feel like the rice was a bit hard for some reason and the chicken was dry. The portion sizes were good if you got the bowl. Would definitely come back for their Magic Matcha. I can say this one of the best latte I've had. I recommend getting the Tahitian vanilla latte. It's so sweet, made with Ethiopian coffee beans, and creamy. It doesn't taste like those vanilla syrup but like a vanilla bean. There's plenty of seating here and everyone is studying or on a coffee date. Just know there isn't a lot of outlets here. I wanted to try something new in the city and saw amazing reviews of this coffee shop in Logan Circle. I took the redline metro to Farragut North and walked about 5 minutes to get there. This spot is probably one of the fanciest spots in DC in terms of the customers going there. You could feel how polite and educated people are which makes you enjoy your day more! What I loved most about this place is that you don't have to constantly ask for a cup of water because water is self-serve which is fantastic for me since I drink a lotta water after my oat milk latte. Btw, a 12 oz. of latte was $5.00. These are the type of spots that makes me regret not living in Logan Circle, honestly. Highly recommended! read more

Such a great coffee shop with a real food menu. A friend told me about this place and I surprisingly had never heard of it! It's so spacious, but beware on weekend it actually fills up quite quickly so you may be on the hunt for seating if you're a large group. Definitely try one of their unique hot drinks. The miso hot chocolate that I ordered was so rich and delicious. I could drink that all day. The egg sandwich they serve seems to be really popular and I can see why. Headed to slipstream on a Sunday morning because I've heard good things. I really loved how inside they have a QR code you order directly off of and service was pretty quick. I tried the Tahitian vanilla latte and breakfast sandwhich. Hands down great latte! The only thing is it was definitely on the pricier side of lattes that I have had. I also really enjoyed the sandwich especially the habanero jam. I'm always a fan of a sweet and spicy combo. I got the vanilla latte and it was pretty good. Sweet enough I didn't need to add sugar but not too sweet. I was disappointed they didn't have almond milk but they did at least have skim which is more than call your mother had so I was happy with that. I wanted to try "sweater weather" but they pre make the mixture with oat milk and I didn't want oat milk. I will say my wait time for one coffee felt excessive. It was around 10-15 minutes. The coffee was good but probably not 10-15 minutes good ;) The atmosphere was hopping and seemed like a great place to meet up with friends or sit by yourself and work on a project that would benefit from ambient noise. Update: tried the thoughtful mocha. Couldn't even taste the miso. Nothing special unfortunately. Next day tried a simple cortado- the one from my local coffee shop in blue hill is so much smoother and tastier. I'm sure the beans and coffee itself are high quality but the execution is lacking. I'd love to see so more interesting drinks put on the menu or current ones improved. The Tahitian vanilla latte would be the best I'd recommend but even that didn't "wow" me. read more

The espresso was decent, not my favorite in the area but decent, wouldn't come just for a coffee though given the price and size. Very disappointing experience. I much prefer the Ballston location. In Ballston, you will be welcomed by friendly staff and enter a sparkling clean space. DO NOT expect this in DC. The staff is lazy, the space where they prepare your drinks and food is filthy, their restrooms are not well-maintained, and the coffee is poorly made. Coffee is expensive and I would much rather give my money to a quality establishment like the Slipstream in Ballston. read more

One word: brunch. Specialty coffee drinks are creative and delish (read: "sweater weather" with tahini, fall spices, and orange zest). Food is a can't miss: eggs benedict, egg sandwich with brussel sprouts and curry aioli on a pumpkin biscuit (mind blown), and avocado toast. It doesn't get more hipster than this, y'all! For $10, you get a tiny but deliciously crafted breakfast sandwich with no side. For $6, you get a small sweater weather latte which will make you say, "PSL who?" The sweater weather latte is ultimate cozy in a cup. I can't have caffeine or dairy, so I asked for a half a shot of decaf instead of the espresso and they kindly made my custom drink. This place has oat milk only. The breakfast sandwich is on a biscuit that was a little grainy and hard but it still tasted good. They add micro greens to the sandwich which is a nice unexpected crunch to the pillowy egg soufflé. They have an outdoor patio that is dog friendly but all food is ordered and picked up inside. Delicious but unless you have some serious disposable income, not a place you would go to every day. read more

I have been meaning to go to Slipstream for the longest. It took the pandemic and having to drive into the city to our apartment because of renovations to finally get it on it! I can only speak to post-pandemic slipstream, but we were able to conveniently order coffee, tea, some spiked coffees, and breakfast and pick it up on our way in several times. The coffee (Tahitian vanilla latte) and tea (song red tea) were on point and the breakfast sandwiches and bowls were scrumptious. The breakfast sandwich was delicious and the habanero jam was a perfect touch. The bowl was really tasty, but I do wish it had just a little more, I still felt hungry afterwards! Oh yea, I almost forgot I ordered by husband the gluten-free blueberry muffin which I had a fair share of and it was really filling. As for the spiked coffee, I don't see it on the menu now but it was essentially a coffee old-fashioned and it was a nice treat after a day of packing. read more
