This is the worst Hilton , or any hotel, we've stayed in. It's shabby, only one bedside table, only one US-B in the whole room, charged $75 for my toy poodle plus a refundable $50 for whatever. Doesn't Hilton have standards? Must be pretty low. read more

Check-in was excellent. The front-desk staff was extremely friendly, helpful, and went above and beyond. She even suggested changing from a first-floor room to the second floor, explaining that the first floor is the pet-friendly floor -- a thoughtful recommendation. When you enter the room, there's a large open space to the right. Immediately to the left is the bathroom, which has a standard tub/shower combo, a hair dryer, and typical hotel fixtures. Even with two lights on either side of the mirror, the lighting is dimmer than many hotel bathrooms and could use brighter bulbs. Inside the bathroom is a large mirror, and just outside it is another full-size mirror. There is also a long black hair stuck to the bathroom ceiling. Across from the bathroom is a closet containing an iron, ironing board, and a safe. In the main area, the room has double queens with a small stool/settee just past the closet and across from the first bed -- likely intended as the luggage area, since no luggage rack is provided. The TV sits above a counter with three large drawers, and underneath that counter is a microwave and refrigerator. The coffee maker uses standard filters (not pods), which is a plus. Past the TV area is a desk with a lamp. The lamp includes extra power outlets but no USB ports. Beside the second bed near the window is a soft chair with a lamp, and the bedside table has another lamp plus a small plug-in charging station offering a USB-C and a standard USB port. It also claims to be a wireless charging pad, but it did not work with my phone. Lighting in the room consists of three lamps plus a single overhead light near the entrance. Overall cleanliness was good -- everything smelled fresh and tidy. I did find a small sticky patch near the coffee maker that felt like sugar residue, but it wasn't visible. The bathroom was clean but clearly shows its age. My bathroom door looked like it had been forced open at some point and was repaired; the doorknob area is visibly battered, with marks on both the door and the frame. There's also peeling wallpaper near the window that does not look good. Aside from those cosmetic issues, the room is comfortable and in decent condition. The hotel is well-located near downtown, and for the price point, it's a good value. I would stay here again. One odd thing I noticed after checkout is they were unable to provide me with an itemized receipt for my cafe purchases like the little place where you buy water and snacks for corporate America you got to have an itemized receipt and they are unable to provide one. There's a separate business attached to the hotel Texas steakhouse that serves breakfast and dinner and has a full bar. read more

We have stayed in the DoubleTrees before ... however after staying at this one - it makes us second guess ever staying at one again. The room is severely outdated - despite it being 89 outside - the AC was not on and we arrived to a steamy hot room ... the light before the bathroom flickered on and off ... 2 of the lamps where not plugged in and the frig was broken and needed de-iced ... no room phone to call the front desk ... maintenance came up fixed the light bulb but couldn't do anything with frig ... The beds were hard as rocks - the only selling point of this hotel is the location off of I-95 ... There are plenty of hotels on this exit - definitely go somewhere else. read more

This is old dated hotel while the lobby has had.a face lift the rooms have not. My bathroom shower shows severe cracks in the shelving plaster. The bed was rock hard it was like sleeping on plywood. The gym was dirty and the equipment was broken - the exercise bike pedal straps were non existent. The complimentary cookies was one of the highlights of this stay. When traveling this section of this route will most likely select a different hotel. read more

We paid for and reserved a room in advance. On arrival we were told we must give them and additional 250 in CASH as a deposit since they did not trust anyone living within 50 miles of the hotel to include me being a decades old Hilton rewards customer. We had to waste time foing to an ATM and additional time on check out waiting to have our room inspected before our money would be returned. Room was old and sub standard as well and television that would freeze up, but that's minimal to the treatment by this terrible staff. read more

The hotel was rated a four star hotel on Orbitz but it definitely fell short of that. Upon entry into the building, there was a cockroach by the door, would recommend better pest control. At check in the staff was friendly and gave us our warm cookies (apparently this is what DoubleTree is known for) . The lobby decor was a little outdated and they had a mini breakfast bar with limited options. (Not sure if it's complimentary). When we got to our room, we were hit with a whiff of "wet moldy clothes" smell. Indication of poor ventilation and maybe mold. In the middle of the night, a noise woke us. It sounded like the front desk was on the intercom system but then it cut off to just static. The static went on for maybe 15-20 minutes before they cut it off. Their fitness center was even more disappointing. 3 treadmills, 2 bikes, barbell rack (think from 5 lbs to 50 lbs) and a functional trainer/cable machine. For a four star hotel I was expecting 1-2 leg machines. Overall, I would not rebook at this hotel. read more

Lobby and entry is nice- but when you get into the hallways and rooms that's where it goes down hill. The rooms have been "updated" but they need a serious renovation. I'm a travel agent for 30 plus years and would never book my clients at this hotel. The first floor smells moldy and musty. The pool was out of service- which was no big deal for me, we only were there 1 night. But families would prob be upset by that. I went to get ice in the "key" secured room when trying to leave the room I wasn't able to get out- after a few minutes I tried my key card and realized that an un- labeled basic outlet cover was the access point- it needs a sign. The digital key would not work on the back entry door so we needed to get regular key cards- another inconvenience- and front desk staff was okay- but barely said hello- that's a big one for me- they are the face of the hotel. I opened the closet to hang up a few shirts and was greeted by Cat5 cables hanging out of a large hole in the closet. Carpets are stained in the hallways and the hallways themselves need a refurb. Overall- if you need a hotel for a night, consider it but the pictures on the website are a little deceiving. But there other hotels in the close proximity that are much nicer, we have stayed at them. I would not stay here again. read more

We were driving through North Carolina on our way to DC and decided to give this place a try. It was conveniently located right off a highway exit in Rocky Mount. There were also 5 other hotels located at the same exit. As a Hilton diamond club member, my husband opted for this one. We got a nice room on the second floor with a good view of the pool. There is also an Outback restaurant that you can wLk to nearby. The hotel also has a restaurant in the lobby called Texas that you can rat at. The room was an average size. The bathroom had good water temperature and good water pressure. The hotel itself was undergoing some renovations on the first floor, which affected the breakfast. As a result, the complimentary breakfast items and space for breakfast were limited. read more

The lobby and entrance are bright and clean. Then it all goes downhill. The rooms are beyond dirty. Inches of dust on everything. The rug in the room was thread-bare. The walls were all dented and scratched, the toilet paper holder was in pieces on the counter. I seriously considered checking out as soon as I checked in. I barely slept just thinking how dirty the room was. The checkout was awful - I was told to throw my key in the box. I wanted a receipt which was a nightmare. Never again! This hotel was dirty. There were rusty toenail clippers and old cereal on the floor. The bathtub was dirty. The refrigerator and all surfaces were dirty. The sheets had crumbs. We had to clean it ourselves with their vacuum and cleaning supplies because housekeeping was gone. There is mold and mildew. Pool was closed. If you are a diamond or gold member, they REPLACE your $15/day credit with a $6 buffet that is not worth $6. They sent a text asking 1-10, I sent back 1, they asked could they call, I said they could. They never did. I sent my concerns to corporate and they closed it without even contacting me. read more

Hotel Arriving: Pulling up in the parking lot. There is limited parking--very bad parking lot presentation. There is horrible parking. There are two trailers (not customer-owned) taking up several parking spaces. There is trash in the parameter of the parking lot. This is all noticed before I enter the hotel, so this is extremely unpleasant at first. Entering the hotel lobby: The lobby area is nice. Well lit and nicely decorated. There is a Texas Steakhouse restaurant and they provide a 10% off dining to hotel guest. The discount should be more. Staff: One rep was slouching over engaged in the computer screen and not making eye contact. The other one I think her name was Stephanie was pleasant and said she would check me in. Very courteous but it's just the usual process. Thanking me for being a Hilton Silver. I appreciate the plessantries and kindness. Inside the Room: Our room was outdated. They have stickers plastered about extra cleaning but there was visible dirt throughout the room which you will see in the photos. The chair had dirt in it. The toilet seat had visible brownish residue that came off easily with clorox wipes. The room smelled stale and had a stinnchy smell even after turning on the AC. An odor came from the AC as well. Just a horrible stay. Uncomfortable beds were saggy, and I found a spot on the comforter. For $200+ a night this Double Tree by Hilton location is definitely degrading to the Hilrin brand considering that the level of cleanliness is obsolete here, and it does not meet my expectations based on other Hilton branded experiences in the area of comfort, cleanliness, and responsiveness from the texting staff. Hilton text rep (Angie) should refrain from sending redundant text messages asking anything about the stay if one isn't going to acknowledge the poor cleaning in the rooms. The text is one-sided. However, I didn't care for anyone coming in my room to reclean; it's just the lack of acknowledgment from your text messaging staff after answering a question they asked. read more

We have stayed at this Doubletree several times on our way up north and always felt it to be comfortable and enjoyable. This time though, our room appeared to be very outdated. The outlets were loose in the walls, the couch was stained, the lamps were old, there were no USB ports, walls were damaged and the furniture is old. Even the mini fridge was wobbly inside it's too big cubby hole. I gave the hotel 2 stars because the staff are incredibly nice, the bathroom was fine and the room was generally clean. We will be looking for a different hotel next time though. read more

Had to stop over on the way from Fl to Va. I looked for something on Expedia and the price seemed reasonable. Once we parked, I became concerned by the prominent sign warning to remove all valuables from the car as damage or theft is not their responsibility. I get it, but maybe have a sign about video surveillance instead and breaking will be prosecuted. I was worried all night about my car getting broken into. Luckily nothing happened, but I wouldn't stay here over a weekend. The room was ok. Then I took a shower. I have used the phrase "smelled like ass" before, but my bath towel truly smelled like ass. Was happy to check out and leave. And don't bother with the Texas restaurant. I left a review of that too. Read and heed yelp reviews. I checked into this hotel, The lobby appear nice, however the room was absolutely horrible, food was left on the carpet and mold in the shower. The lamp stands were rusty and holes in the lamp shade. The bottom of the tub was dirty and all the soap, conditioner and shampoo dispensers were removed . The floor between the bed and nightstand had so much trash , when we requested the room be vacuumed, the maintenance person had to go back and get a broom to sweep around the edges of the bed and nightstand to get dirt out before vacuuming. The bathroom door was nasty and stuck. The room was so bad, we didn't want our skin to touch the sheets, so we slept in our cloths. The shower had an open soap packet left from the prior guests. In essence, the room was disgusting. I asked about another room and was repeatedly told that I booked through a third party, the room was assigned and can't be changed. I started to think maybe they give the worst rooms to guest who book via 3rd parties. No matter how you book, everyone deserves a clean place to sleep . read more

My stay was soured by the fact that I was not informed that the breakfast was not included. I was directed to where the breakfast was, the person there asked for my name and that was it. I had one biscuit and and half a cup of coffee and was presented with the bill for 13 dollars. Will not be staying in another Double Tree ever. read more

Stay to play baseball tournament requires us to use a hotel from their list. This was the one that our team used. They advertise the outdoor pool which is great for teams. Unfortunately they chose to close the pool for the entire weekend. Conveniently opening on Monday once all the teams are gone. Staff members that we spoke to said the pool was supposed to be open and had no clue why it was closed. If you have to choose a hotel for the Rocky Mount tournaments, Holiday Inn Express is right next door and they have everything that they advertise. Look at all the responses here from the manager that says she will make sure the concerns are addressed but they still keep getting terrible reviews. Maybe a manager needs to be available on weekends since we were told that concerns can only be addressed on Monday. read more

This is a great hotel, good location when out this far, lean , and it's a Hilton!! I booked this as a steal from my company travel site not expecting much and confused on some reviews. I'm a die hard Hilton guy and rarely stay at doubletree - mostly as they are not built where I need to be - but checked in here, great staff, large room with cool air, and had an Outback a few doors down. They have a steak place attached but it was crowded and didn't look as "appropriate " for my needs so always happy to hit outback . There's a pantry here, nice beds, clean bathrooms so as a Hilton patron. Was very pleased . we checked in late to a floor that they clearly are renovating...walking on brown paper instead of a rug to our room. the room is so filthy the dust mites have dust mites. it is so thick. everything has a coating of dust, inside the closet the toilet, all the furniture which means we are sleeping in dust and we were never warned about any renovations. for a person who suffers from allergies to dust this is truly disappointing. I will be switching hotels tomorrow. read more

We arrived with our digital key in hand and bypassed the front desk, unfortunately the digital key wouldn't work, the app kept saying bluetooth was off when it was on. We headed back down to the front desk where the friendly staff handed us our key cards. The hotel has a couple minor maintenance issues to address such as the broken grab bar in the elevator. We did notify a staff member about it and he stated they were aware of the issue. When checking in with digital key, members are greeted with a screen that tells them additional information about the stay, such as where to get breakfast. Ours stated that we should go to the adjoining restaurant and simply give our names to the hostess, however when we did so she told us we needed to get something from the front desk. so we left the restaurant, went to the front desk and then went back to eat. Rather disorganized, but all of the staff are very helpful, attentive and very friendly. read more

Easily the worst hotel I've had the misfortune of staying in for the past forty years. The painting and wallpapering throughout looked as if it had been done by drunk children. The first room they gave us had no light over the door, only a gaping hole where a light should have been. The door had to be body-slammed to open. The television didn't work. The phone didn't work. The toilet seat was broken and wobbly and the floor was dirty. They moved us to a room where the phone didn't work and the toilet wouldn't stop running unless it was turned off at the floor. The only way to flush it was to lift off the tank lid and manually raise the ballcock. We would have asked for a third room but it was apparent that they didn't have a respectable room on the property. For all that's holy, avoid this nightmare at all costs! read more

Visiting with my family for a quick getaway the room was not up to Hilton standers the top of bed was dusty the toilet seat kept coming off a few cobb webs in the corner of the room which shows the room has not been dusted properly. The bath tub drained slowly which means my feet took a bath as well as a shower I did the digital check in do to it being a long line of check in but it didn't work for any other part's of the hotel I got stuck in the pool because the key didn't work I eventually got a regular key for the room Once I went to the front desk and got the key I was not offered the complimentary bottle of water or the cookie. So when I asked the person at the front desk didn't want to give either she stated you didn't get it when you checked in I had to explain the digital key check in that I did. I love the Double tree hotel but if I am in Rocky Mt again this will be a last resort for a room For the price of the rooms I should have had a better stay not to mention no thanks for being a Honors member maybe I need to ne gold or something to get treated better. Quick check in, clean room except it was obvious the carpet wasn't vacuumed. Weirdly, at 9:30 PM housekeeping sprayed some super strong chemical fragrance in the hallway. It was so strong, it came into my room underneath the door and I couldn't stop smelling it. It's terrible. Why did they need to do that!? Housekeeping isn't even turning over rooms that late. Comfortable beds. Stayed here on my drive home from Florida. It was a long day on the road. It rained for 12 hours straight so there were tons of accidents it slowed us down we were hours behind schedule. It was time to stop. It was late around 12am. I need a place that was safe and secure for my family. I looked online and found this place. We needed 2 beds and they offer 2 queen beds. At check in at a late hour the woman was so nice and friendly. She offered me warm cookies. I was to tired for cookies. She made me feel at home. I was pleased to have a room with 2 queens most places have double beds . A queen bed makes a huge difference. The beds were so soft, the pillows were like clouds. I will always look for a double tree. The way that woman made me feel at 12am will always stay in my mind read more
