Overall great staff, parking and reception went great. Cleanness of the foyer and greouds were nothing less than great. The spoiler was the mold (black) the bathroom shower area. I am a cigar person. Patio and fire pit area on lower level was outstanding providing an area to decompress with a cigar and a bourbon. Recent upgrades were evident with the many outlets and data charging stations for those of us who work on the go. The sitting area Sofa needed a bit of attention as it had numerous areas of the sofa that lacked attention. read more

Hmmmmm, Let's start with the night before I arrived. I called the hotel to pay for my room in advance. The phone rang forever without anyone answering. A few hours later, called again a lady's voice said, "Can you hold?" Immediately placing me on hold. 20 minutes goes by, I hang up the phone to only call back. Same lady answered, "Hello, How may I help you." I started to explain to her, "I have a reservation"....she cut me off and told me, "We were busy. Call back late (Click)." I was so frustrated, I went online and paid for my room. Upon check in, The receptionist was very friendly, (same voice on the phone the night before). She was friendly and helpful during our stay. The pool was very comfortably warm. The room was clean. We had no issues with the room, pool or staff except for the guy at the restaurant. He was very rude. He talked at my fiancé and the same with me. It took all of God to keep my composure. Every question came with a nasty attitude. I asked for 2 plates and his response was, "What are you going to do for me?" My fiancé asked for breakfast items and he act as if she was invading his space. She left the restaurant without having her breakfast (which came with the room). If we had the time to speak to a manager, we would have, but our schedule was tight. This hotel has it's pros, but the attitudes has caused us to look elsewhere when we travel to the area again. My recommendation is to find a more friendly atmosphere when traveling. Pay close attention to the reviews. I would not recommend this hotel. read more

After driving from NY to Rocky Mount 8hrs drive, Courtyard was the place to stay and rest, the price I paid for 1night wasn't bad, check in and out was simple, they have a pool, a steak house in walking distance. A snack shop in the lobby. My room was cold, comfy and roomy, my bed made well firm and hard , definitely good for my back from driving long . The bathroom wasn't update but good enough to do your thing. Quiet area, I slept good and well rested. After couple hrs of sleep, up I go onto Florida! Til next time Rocky Mount! read more

I stayed one night traveling 12/28/25 from NY to Florida. Check in easy but had difficulty with the front desk woman's southern dialect and asked if the fitness center was open and she replied I told you that already. I said well we both are from different areas N and S and i didn't understand what you indicated even my partner couldn't understand her either. The hotel is getting dated needs updated mattresses and wallpaper thats peeling. There was no water to be found in bottles or for purchase including none at the includes breakfast which was running low on eggs/bacon. I located was filtered water machine in the fitness center. It was a nice hotel and adequate for my 1 night stay and affordable. I recommend water and coffee plus tea in the lobby for guests 24/7 read more

my husband I have stayed at this hotel several times over the last 6 years. Great location off of I95. Excellent options nearby for dinner. Room was very clean but it needs updated furnishings. One complaint-- we could not add a housekeeping tip to our bill, but we could pay for snacks on the bill. We learned that hotel recently converted to new system and this can't be done anymore. That's crazy and I know it's had an affect On housekeeping tips. Please reinstate this feature that's a win/win for guests and staff. We did leave a tip but not what we wanted to leave. happy employees really do make a difference in a guests stay. read more

Be aware that if you book through a 3rd party ie: Hotels.com, Kayak, Expedia, Travelocity this place doesn't honor the reservation. It doesn't matter if you prepay weeks in advance they will not call you to let you know they "overbooked" because what they are really doing is selling the room out from under you at a higher cost to walk in customers. We where left in the lobby with no room hours from home. Worse is that the hotel and Hotels.com didn't care the only thing they did was give us a refund which isn't much use when your holding your bags and no place to stay! read more

This was by far the worst experience of my life. The first indication was the green water in the hot tub surrounded by yellow caution tape. But the main reason we chose this location was the Bistro. It was closed and no one could tell us why. Even the sign was still standing displayed the message to enjoy our Bistro. It just gets better, the hostess informed me that they no longer offer room charges and we have to pay in cash only. The bathroom, the tub was right out of an Alfred Hitchcock movie set and was holding on to life support as it was peeling away from the wall. The Toilet, so badly stained I used the common toilet by the dirty pool with dirty bottom algae lying in wait for the next brave soul. On checkout, they attempted to make entry around 0915 but we always throw the door latch. They tried to do this twice. We will never go back, ever read more

I've stayed at this Courtyard numerous times over the past 3 years & it has been in a steady decline. It's sad because this could be a really great property. I'm surprised the Marriott brand hasn't stepped in to help this property. My last visit will be just that...my last visit. I'll forfeit the points & stay at another hotel. I had a balcony room & could barely force the door open due to the condition of the track. There is supposed to be a "bistro" at this location but it was not open any of the 3 days I stayed. There was coffee out one morning & when I asked for creamer the front desk attendant seemed annoyed that she had to step away from her FaceTime call to get me cream (which came out of the bistro fridge). The mini mart's coolers were broken & it looked like no on had stocked anything for months. The pool was under construction, which had no bearing on my stay, but was worth mentioning. This hotel is VERY outdated, the rooms and hallways have a funny stale odor, they state on their website they have a pool, (they do, but it's out of service indefinitely per the signage posted) they falsely advertise stating they have suites and 2 room suites online, however both the front desk clerk and the manager advised they don't have them, they will incorrectly charge you for items you purchase from the market and when you bring it to their attention they will refuse to correct it. I have been a titanium member for the past 10 years with Marriott and enjoy most of their hotels, but I'm telling you to stay away from this one. The thing that sucks the most is I travel for business frequently and there are very limited Marriott properties in the Rocky Mount, NC area and they all appear to be run down. I guess it's time to find out if another chain has any decent hotels in the area. read more

To list a few reasons: found 3 spiders in bed, water didn't drain from shower, fan in bathroom didn't work, foul smelling room, no free breakfast, discourteous staff, no napkins in bistro, cable went out after an hour, no free wifi, and the advertised pool had no water. Ii was pretty happy with this hotel. I will stay again because I have to be in the Rocky Mount area once a month for work. I picked this hotel because it was one that took my company credit card. I was happy with this property. The bed was comfortable, the shower worked well, and the staff were nice. A few tips I can offer are as follows: 1 They do offer breakfast but they charge for it. This is really not a problem because there are a lot of restaurants near by. I tried Waffle House and it was good. Also it opens early and this works well with my work schedule. 2. Be aware that there is both a microwave and refrigerator in the room. It is Behind a door and I did not discover till the morning I was leaving. I will know next month. 3. Unless you are a guy and can put up with a very small soap and a tiny bottle of shampoo bring your on body wash, shampoo, and conditioner. 4. The only issue I had with the property and it was a minor one was that the tub was very narrow so it made the shower a little difficult so watch your step. Thanks and happy travels! read more

The rooms, tub/shower and bathroom area was very old and wallpaper was peeling. Felt old and in need of updating. The hotel does not include breakfast. Pool was out of service. North Carolina is HOT & HUMID in the summer. You NEED A/C in the room, but when I'm working at the desk, I'm freezing because it's blowing straight at me. When I turn it off, the room gets hot. Argh! They need to think this through! OTHER COMMENTS The A/C & Desk thing may seem like a minor thing, but honestly, I don't know how many people go to Rocky Mount for vacation. There're enough businesses out here that I can see more people coming here for work than play (which I assume means that they use the desk), so I don't think you can just write it off. Having said that, though, this is a pretty perfect hotel! It's not something where I'll think back and be like, "Oh yeah, that Courtyard! THAT was memorable!" I don't typically leave reviews but my stay here has been that bad. The beds are hard and feel like I'm laying on bricks. The walls are thin and the guests above us are walking hard over our heads at nearly midnight. Then each time they open and close the sliding glass doors it's super loud. When describing the hotel experience, I would flat out say it's very "ghetto" here. The best experience has been the wonderful hotel staff. What a nice place. The only thing keeping it from being a 5 is a lack of free breakfast. ha ha I walked in not expecting all too much, but the place is really nice on the inside. Chat at the front desk was very friendly and helpful. Check in was quick. The room was spacious, and the bed was super comfortable. I realized that I forgot my toothbrush and toothpaste, so when I went down to ask where I could buy some nearby, they had free travel size ones to give me! The room was pretty big with a table, couch, king-size bed, good sized LCD TV, microwave, mini-fridge (didn't even open it) and microwave. And free wi-fi! All for $89. TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE! The hotel is decent and in a great location. The staff is the absolute worst! We came in late after driving several hours. No one was at the front desk. The gentleman did arrive from outdoors and already had my keys ready. I appreciated that and we went about our way. At 7:30 am, we get a knock at the door by a male employee. He was just checking the rooms. At 8 am, we got another knock and it was housekeeping. Checkout is at 12 pm. Why was our sleep disturbed???? I called the front desk and politely asked that we were allowed time to rest. We were in town for a funeral. He advised that we used the sign on the door. We didn't have one. He stated that someone would bring one up and place it on the door. The gentleman came up within 15 minutes and banged on the door. When I didn't respond fast enough, he banged again. When I opened the door, he handed me the sign and said, "Happy Birthday!". The housekeepers felt this was funny. I'm not sure why this happened. Why would someone be so rude to customers? We are Bonvoy members and chose to stay at a Marriott as we have come to know and expect high quality from the brand. This was the worst experience. We could not rest. We were disrespected. I loved the retro look of the room with updated features like lots of plugs and USB ports. But then there was the bathroom. Cracks in wall of shower area. Bottom of tub was cracked and patched. Holes in wall where shower rod was torn out of wall. The shower rod was rehung at such an angle that the shower curtain kept sliding open on me. read more

This place shouldn't be under the Marriott brand! It makes me now question all my bookings with Marriott going forward. Upon entering the first room, my son pointed out the biggest cockroach is ever seen so they moved us to another room. There it was evident the bathroom hadn't been properly cleaned, it was hair everywhere (yuck)! Then to wake up to a brown roach crawling on the sink was it! Needless to say we canceled the rest of our reservation. When we were checking out she asked maintenance has Orkin been out he said "they're about due to come". Save yourself the trouble of booking here, they can definitely do better. they only took $79.00 off the bill.should've been free!!!!!! If you ask me the room should be no more than $79.00 anyway, and this place should be classified as a Motel. Our kids were mortified! Whew!!! I will be contacting corporate as well! After a recent 10 day stay at this hotel while our home was being repaired, I want to warn potential future guests not to stay here, especially women and children. During our stay, my husband and I were verbally accosted by another guest on the elevator that continued into the hallway and then into the lobby. The acting GM was called to sort things out and he chose in his own words "to remain neutral." In an episode of verbal violence that could easily have escalated to physical harm, the acting GM chose to remain neutral allowing the aggressor to remain in the hotel without consequences. Furthermore, we learned that the hotel does not have internal security cameras which serve as a crime deterrent and help local authorities solve crimes that do occur. Despite our strong feelings, the GM remained nonchalant and uncaring, refusing to keep his guests and staff safe from another guest who started a confrontation with us. For those of you whose families are part of travel ball teams or people coming to the local event center, I highly recommend you stay elsewhere because you will not be safe here under this GM's "leadership." The hotel staff were absolutely wonderful to us and were horrified at the situation and how it was handled. I am deducing that their safety and human rights are valued as much as mine by this GM. read more

Nice looking place the rooms are nice however the bath area is showing signs of age. The room we were given was a nonsmoking room however, it was very obvious people had been smoking in it recently. The smoke detector was covered by a cloth. They didn't provide room service the days we stayed, they had a coffee maker but no coffee, and had to beg for toilet paper. The lights on the desk were out. No complimentary breakfast, pool and exercise room were closed. However they did charge full price. That, Great customer service. read more

Stayed here after driving all day from central Florida. Upon check in I was notified that the elevator was not working (which can happen). However the hotel staff failed to offer any compensation (points or breakfast) for my troubles of carrying our bags us 3 flights of stairs. I'm a gold status member and that obviously meant nothing. Also surprised that when I left in the morning there was not coffee station like other hotels in the Marriott brand offer. We won't be staying here again and would hope that someone from this hotel actually reads this and cares about it. read more

This Courtyard by Marriott location is a perfect stop for those who are doing the North to South/South to North drive along I-95. Located about 4 miles off of I-95 itself, this location is worth the slight detour. This hotel is part of a cleverly designed area that's aimed at the long distance car travelers. While not technically the "half-way point," Rocky Mount does a great job in taking care of weary drivers. On our trip from West Palm Beach, FL to Boston, MA, we planned to stop at Lumberton, NC, which is somewhat of a half-way point. Instead, we continued North for about another two hours, giving us time to find this hotel in the AAA guidebook. A quick phone call and we were able to reserve ourselves a room. We were a little unsure as to if we were going in the right direction off of the highway, but you find yourself turning into an enclave of hotels, restaurants, and gas stations. The Courtyard is somewhat of the anchor, being the largest hotel in the cluster. The front desk staff was very helpful in giving us a combination senior-citizen discount (thanks Dad!) and a AAA discount. Rooms were spotless and we were certainly grateful for Courtyard's comfortable mattresses after a long day of sitting in a car. Bathrooms, often the sour point of a hotel visit, were immaculate. TV was good, with plenty of channels. Also, if I remember correctly, the hotel has free wi-fi, which made sharing a room with my father moderately tolerable. (Haha!) Other amenities include a pool, gym, business center, and free breakfast in the morning. The best part about this hotel is that across the street are about three sit-down restaurants. After eating junk at McDonald's on the highway, we were relieved to have a sit-down meal. Gas stations are conveniently on the road out of the hotel cluster, and there's ample opportunity to fill-up before a long day of driving. Early check-out is a breeze, as we were able to get going by 4:30 in the morning. Even though Courtyard tends to be on the pricier side, especially for those pressed for time while trying to do the long trip North/South, this location is worth it. While spending all day in the car is guaranteed to be miserable, there's no reason you should suffer at some sketchy motel. The Courtyard by Marriott in Rocky Mount, NC. The basic problem I forgot to include in the original review is that this facility does not support the rights of citizens under the U.S. Constitution. In fact, after talking with other Marriott managers, I was told this is the only one known that prohibits concealed or open carry guns in the motel. This "Courtyard" was extremely accommodating, last minute reservation very late at night. Called the hotel from driving that night, asked if they had vacancies, the night staff give us directions and the amount for the night.. thus getting us off the road to continue the long drive ahead of us, the next morning. The Courtyard's and the Fairfield Inns we've used for years. This hotel was very clean, and relaxing. The bed & the room's interior was very comfortable and clean. And this Courtyard still has the balcony. The noise level from the nearby highway, we didn't hear it. But you can definitely tell that it's an older Marriott based on the hotel's exterior & interior... What made our experience great, was how the staff being very friendly and attentive to our needs, went above and beyond to ensure we had what we needed during the night into that following morning! We thanked the staff, first having the vacancy late that night. And secondly getting us off the road to their location!!! When you find yourself traveling and tried, and need a halfway point please give this Courtyard a call!!! read more

Stayed at this place recently for a wedding in the massive rest stop that is known as Rocky Mount, NC. I've never seen so many hotels per square mile in an area. Great place to stop in, I had no problems with the staff during our stay here. Ironically the maid staff was the most helpful, actually offering towels and extra coffee even though we left the do not disturb sign up all weekend. They lost a star due to my random role of exterminator having to get rid of a wasp's nest on our balcony. You're welcome Marriott! read more

Amenities were surprisingly excellent with a nice cafe, indoor pool and hot tub, market store, etc. The cafe even had fun booths with tv's for unwinding. The only thing that kept me from giving this property 5-stars was that it apparently is so new the construction punch list hasn't been completed. The molding on the edges of interior walls wasn't attached and neither was the commode attached securely to the floor. The staff was 5-star, doing the best with what they had and not at fault for the problems we encountered. Marriott should provide this manager with more help to solve lingering problems and shore up this property's image in the Marriott chain. read more

This was a really nice Courtyard. We hadn't planned on staying here, but needed a place for overnight because of bad weather, and this one had the best rate, so we picked it. There is a really wonderful staff here. The young lady checking us in was very nice and had a great personality! (We checked in on 03/05/2015 @ about 3:30 pm, and checked out 03/06/2015 @ 9:00 am). Then there also was a tall young man working in the hotel in the evening (maybe a maintenance man ?), who was equally as friendly and nice. Then, there was Maxine. I met Maxine on the elevator and she was just the most pleasant southern lady. When I got off on the 2nd floor, she made sure to tell me that if there was anything I needed or wanted, just call her. What a pleasant person! The lady when we checked out was nice too. Okay - you get it - enough about the great staff!! My room was very comfortable and spacious - it had everything I needed. Of particular note was the SUPER comfy bed and BEST pillows ever!! This is a typical Courtyard, and was just very nice and clean. Wifi was free, as was the parking. Breakfast is not included in the rate, but there is a cafe in the lobby that serves breakfast, then it opens again in the evening for meals. That area was clean and nice. All good. No complaints at all! Oh, it is convenient to the interstate, but there wasn't a lot of things in the area that I could see. We drove about a mile up a back street to a pizza place called Mario's; it was good! read more
