My wife and I were in charge of the decor and organizing my Navy squadron's reunion for almost 160 people at the hotel and it was awesome! The location was exceptional for our group. Easy access to the water taxi for other events was definitely an added plus. The DoubleTree Riverfront hotel deserves a 10++ for everything they did! The hotel staff was amazing and every single person went above and beyond, and directly aided the reason for the reunion's success, and we do mean every single person! Sara, the sales professional was extremely responsive, easy to work with and connected us to the right people to work with. Apollo managed the banquet room, and he knows the event business. He was directly responsible for all the interworking's of our large banquet, technical requirements and success of the banquet. His help in the PA/sound system and up-lighting was instrumental in making the event a success! He even created a custom menu for our attendees to review prior to entering the buffet. Last minute requests?...No problem! Judy made the buffet dinner run flawlessly. She released all the tables in systematic order getting everyone through the line in record time. The dinner was served on time and it was great! Hat's off to the chef and team! We had some ADA veterans and those who had a little more difficult time moving, so Judy had the staff serve the dessert, a very honorable and much appreciative gesture on her part. We couldn't thank her enough! Kevin, Joe, Troy, Michele plus the bartender were outstanding in flipping the room for the banquet and setting up the room's tables and chair covers. All had amazing attitudes and took care of every detail requested. Ezzy and her staff in the breakfast room simply excelled in their service. They made us all feel so welcomed and the food was very good. We talked to several attendees at the banquet and a common theme was how extraordinary all the hotel staff (and I mean all) was, hands down great. As a loyal Hilton guest, I was genuinely shocked by the condition of this property. While the staff was accommodating, responsive, and courteous, the physical condition of the hotel fell far below the standard I have come to expect from the Hilton brand. Unfortunately, the only items that appeared consistently clean were the towels. My guest room (both of them) was dirty, with a stained bathtub, unclean floors, and mildew in the shower. The public areas were equally disappointing. The entry doors and common spaces appeared neglected, giving the impression that routine cleaning and maintenance were not priorities. The pool water looked questionable, and the men's public restroom was unsanitary, with a strong urine odor and urinals that appeared to have accumulated urine residue. This property is in desperate need of a comprehensive renovation or perhaps even a complete rebuild. It simply does not reflect the quality, cleanliness, or guest experience that Hilton is known for. I sincerely hope corporate leadership invests in restoring this hotel to the standard that loyal Hilton guests expect and deserve. read more

Rooms need updating/renovating. Wear and tear are clearly visible throughout the hotel. The location offers beautiful downtown riverside views of Jacksonville especially at night when the Main Street bridge is lit up. For the cost of the stay you can see better accommodations with nicer and better rooms than this location. read more

A lot could improve! I stayed here over the past weekend in a balcony Riverfront suite. Initially the room was barely clean and I had to submit a request to reclean. The reviews list it as a 4star hotel. It is really giving 2 star motel. The room was very antiquated. The 1970s arm chair was stained and filthy. It looked like a thrift store purchase. The carpet could stand to be shampooed or replaced. The room was not equipped with a microwave or mini fridge. They had vending machines on each floor that contain nothing but sold out pop and and an ice machine. In the lobby was a snack area where a bag of small size doritos were 6.00. I had no hot water my entire stay. It was very noisy. All night long you could hear the heavy old fashion doors slam. The heater in my room smelled like a hair blow dryer that was about to give out. It was also very loud and took a long time to heat the space. Parking is also a little expensive $30 a day to self park. Considering it is attached to the hotel you would think this would be complimentary to your stay. Staff was very pleasant. The lobby decor was ok and the view was nice. Those are the only compliments I can give. I enjoy The Hilton portfolio but would NEVER stay at this location again. I just expected more from a 4-star hotel. P.s. Hotel in need of some serious care. I tried to give them the benefit of the doubt but they things kept piling on. The rooms were ok but the basic weren't even met. The ice machines on my floor and the one above were dilapidated. I had to go all the way to the lobby to beg for some ice to which they were so nice and got some for me. The bathrooms were in need of some TLC, the shower doors were cheaply replaced with bars within the shower door frames. The hallways and elevator had the worst scents and the thermostat never worked properly. I had to request extra comforters to sleep through the night of the thin walls and hearing the people next door having sex. I really feel bad for the staff working here because honestly they were all very sweet and attentive. Whatever requests I had, the quickly obliged. I was so disappointed in the Hilton hotel after paying almost $400 for a weekend we were charged an additional $200 deposit and $28 daily to park in the Hilton parking lot. The rooms had no microwave no refrigerator the ceiling was falling down there was rose petals on the floor from the previous guess the tub was rusted and peeling and the swimming pool from the balcony looked so nasty which it turnt out to be that the floor of the pool is just really bad stained and the outside pool area is not kept clean we had to clean up trash in order to sit out by the pool for the price of this hotel I feel like the hotel should of been more clean and updated and the staff was not helpful at all to accommodate nothing we asked even made us come to front desk for clean towels on top of all this we went down to breakfast Saturday morning they charged $19 and the eggs was ice cold read more

My room had a balcony overlooking the river... the balcony door was so hard to open, I had to call maintenance to have them close the door. I unfortunately I won't be able to reopen it. Rooms are dirty, stains everywhere and chipping tiles. The lobby is nice but you have to walk up a few stairs to get the bars , pool and Ruth's. It's not handicap assessable. This stay was not what I was expecting. I was very disappointed. The price does not match the hotel. Pros: The check in was quick and easy. I even got text messages seeing how my stay was going. The valet parking was excellent. The workers did a great job. They were the highlight of the stay. The hotel bar chicken wings were hot and tasty. The view of city from the balcony was beautiful. The mirrors were nice and very useful. The hotel self parking lot has a an entrance to the river walk. Cons: The entire hotel needs to be renovated. The carpet was old and the door couldn't be shut unless you pushed it. We heard does slamming all night and morning. The beds were so small, two people could barely fit on them. The tub was not inviting. Beautiful view from balcony but the balcony was old and scary to stand on for me. Overall I won't come back until renovations are complete. read more

Well the place is definitely not what I am used to in my DoubleTree experiences of past! No mini fridge! Now we were staying 5 days and the only way to keep our drinks that we purchased cold was to go to Publix and buy a little styrofoam cooler, unless we wanted to pay a fortune for drinks at the hotel bar. Night 1 our mattress was pitiful!!!! There was a whole row of broken coils on the side I was sleeping on and it was very uncomfortable! We complained at the desk in the morning and were told to come back later because they had no more rooms to give us another, but after check out time they'd see what they can do. The young lady was very nice. We came back and the supervisor/ manager was quite rude. When we told her we were asked to come back to the desk after check out time to see about a new room she asked "Who told you that!?" Very unprofessional mannerisms and prior to us getting to the desk waiting in the line she was very rude to an older gentleman that was also there for a US Navy Veterans event being held in the hotel, The buffet is standard fare, save you $ and go to First Watch or Another Broken egg for way better food for the same cost. The location is not very walkable unless you're just walking for exercise on the river walk . Though the pool area is nice and the views of the river is nice too. Next time we will stay across the bridge closer to downtown where they are closer to restaurants and have mini fridges and better beds. The place is definitely in need of upgrades to the rooms, especially the fixtures in the bathroom & electrical switches, outlets etc. my phone plug kept falling out of the socket as well. I was also given an attitude for asking about a promo breakfast coupon, denied because "you purchased from a 3rd party app." I'm used to the Salt Lake City Doubletree, the Maryland ViDoubletree, and the Houston Doubletree comping at least 1 breakfast of my 5-7 night stays when I travel on business very often. read more

No hot water for shower for 24 hours. Had to be moved to another room. Shower control is down at knee level in narrow shower, so you have to learn to operate with your foot if you want to avoid taken a blast of cold water on your head. Other than that, rooms are dated with missing grout and stained carpeting. But people were friendly although not able to immediately solve hot water problem. read more

I've been HHonors Gold or Platinum for 20+ years, so I'm pretty familiar with the Doubletree brand and I'm pretty shocked that Hilton continues to allow this property to carry it's name. As others have said, it is in desperate need of top-to-bottom refurbishment. To say that it's outdated would be an understatement. However, being old isn't the major turn-off here - I can live with an old hotel. It's just a very, very dirty property. I felt like I was staying at a cheap motel. The carpets in the room are disgusting. The walls are stained. The wallpaper is peeling off the wall. The shower head and faucet were encrusted with soap scum and lime. The glass shower doors were dirty. The cubby holes that held the towels were filthy. In addition, be aware that the exterior walls and sliding doors are thin as can be and the riverside rooms suffer from major highway noise from the adjacent bridge. And, on top of that, they only offer full housekeeping every 5th day. A place like this needs a deep cleaning almost daily. read more

This hotel was not very outdated, many imperfections in the room, chunks of paint off, a part of the shower-head was loose, the carpet had large stains on it. I did complain and ultimately Hilton actually refunded me my entire room stay they were under renovation, but should not have put gas in the old part of the hotel, cause it was in horrible shape. Honestly, this place exceeded our expectations. I was surprised to find that it was only $25 on the resort pass, so I got it for my boyfriend and I. We spent the entire day lounging at their pool. We definitely got a great deal. The pool was spacious and offered plenty of places to spread out. The skyline of Jacksonville downtown was an amazing backdrop. Unfortunately, the bar didn't open until after 3 PM, so we snuck away to Chart House for happy hour. We'll definitely be back tho. We stayed at this Hilton July 9-10 and had a terrible experience: chaotic check-in, dirty room (stained carpet, water damage, dusty vents), broken coffee maker, and a noisy room right next to the elevator--despite booking a quiet one. Worse, we emailed Hilton on two occasions - Mr, Claypool on July 23rd and Guest Correspondence on July 14 with a detailed account and have received no reply at all--not even an acknowledgment. STAY DATE: 3/1/24 - 3/4/24 We were in town for a wedding, and this was the hotel block. If you're thinking of staying here, please think again. To sum it up, the front desk was the BEST part of the stay. They were nice and accommodating as best they could. However, that was about the only good thing about the hotel - except for maybe the location. It's disappointing for a Hilton property, and it's obvious Hilton corporate hasn't come here for a visit in a while. My husband summed it up nicely: This place is held together with ducttape. It really needs a complete revamp. ROOM: I have been to plenty of hotels, and this one ranks on the bottom tier of hotels. The room felt dirty when we checked in. There were stains on the chair. The furniture felt like it had been thrift stored together, which may be fine for your home. But this is a hotel and NOT an AirBNB. The headboard looked out of place. The best part of this was the way they attempted to make the bathroom look nice. However, it was like putting a bandaid on a leaking pipe. It just didn't work. The wallpaper was peeling. The bathroom fixtures were rusted. Our shower leaked despite the glass door shut all the way. The pillows and mattress lacked any support. The one redeeming quality was a comfortable duvet, but that's really all. There is no fridge in the room, and we asked for one to store milk for our baby. They said they'd bring one up, but we never heard from the hotel staff on it. Our safe didn't even turn on. We were not the only ones with problems. Our friends stayed on another floor. Their shower water pressure was so low to the point water merely dripped out of the shower, and it took my friend extra time to wash her hair. Their shower door was missing, and instead of replacing it, the hotel added a shower rod and a shower curtain to the partial missing glass. They complained to maintenance, but no one came to fix it. The bride's room also had issues. The air broke, so maintenance brought in another AC unit. It appeared to be used though... but at least it got fixed. Still, there were SO many problems amongst the friends who were staying at the hotel as part of the block. The cookies and friendly front desk can't make up for a lousy hotel room. COMMON AREAS: The hotel made it look nice enough, but there were also so many problems here. The elevators were small but efficient. However, the floors in each of the three elevators were sticky. The first night we were there, there were wet floor signs in the elevators with the sticky floors. The parking garage was dirty with random puddles and leaks. It was just embarrassing. The nicest place was the lobby, but the floors with rooms were in need of a good cleaning. There were stains on the wallpaper, which probably could have been cleaned easily. HOUSEKEEPING: Oh boy. The housekeeping staff were obviously short staffed, but we got towels refreshed at our request on day three. But my one issue was the fact that at 9:30 a.m. (with an 11 a.m. check out time), they knocked on our door just to "see" if anyone was there. It had a do not disturb sign on. We could technically sleep right until we had to leave... No, I would never stay here again unless there was a complete overhaul of the hotel and the guest rooms. Just stay someplace else and save yourself the headache. read more

Would've given it 2 stars but the complimentary breakfast was amazing as well as the staff. The rooms, on the other hand have probably seen better days. Wall paper was peeling, lamps were a bit worn. They didn't offer microwaves in the rooms so if you need to warm any left overs you'd have to go down stairs to the lobby. The shower kept leaking from the sliding door but I'd use towels to soak it up after every shower. Even my door was a bit sketchy when locking. The view (depending on what section your room is in ) was okay . Got to see the bridge light up at night as well as a water light show from 8pm-10pm. It was centrally located downtown where everything was but honestly, very sketchy area and I probably wouldn't book there again. read more

The good; riverfront rooms have a great view. We were on the 9th floor. The down side; Had a great balcony but getting on it was a challenge. The slide door connecting it was almost impossible to open and close. When we arrived we found the room not really ready for occupancy. There was a half full bottle of water on the dresser, a clutter of paper (receipts and such) in the nightstand drawer, and the ironing board and iron were set up along side of the bed. Yet the bed was made up nicely! All the doors in the room stuck. Each one, including the closet door, was out of square so you would have to push or pull with effort each door closed or open. The bathroom; small 6' X 8' including the shower. One small bar of soap and no shampoo. 2 different wallpapers and 3 different tile patterns. It's obvious that this property lacks care, both in maintenance and cleanliness. Breakfast is buffet style. Nothing special with limited selection. $22.00. Not worth it. Parking: Valet =$24/night, self-parking = $8.00/night Does have a very nice pool area and staff was very pleasant. I've been a HHonors member for over 30 years and I've never experienced a Hilton property in this bad of shape. It needs to be completely refurbished or torn down and start anew. read more

Agree with other posters. Staff excellent, friendly and helpful. The property itself is in total disrepair. It is so so outdated. I can't sleep because of the constant noise from the nearby elevators. The clanks, moans, hums, and bangs are just too much. All the furnishings are old, scuffed and ugly. Carpets and throw pillows are disgustingly soiled. You can see from our balcony that the pool and surrounding area is unkept, dirty and just unwelcoming. Absolutely no insulation from noise be it internal or external. Sliding glass doors are hard to open, and should have been replaced years ago. Junior suite bathroom is so tiny and has absolutely no space to store toiletries. I just want to leave but I have to endure another night. read more

Great location along the Southbank overlooking downtown Jax and the Main Street Bridge. The outside looks drab and more municipal than a hotel, in my opinion. The inside was lovely- but in the lobby had a smell that comes from being near water- a damp, moldy smell. I didn't smell it anywhere else, other than the lobby. I wasn't here for a hotel room- I was here for a banquet. The banquet hall was large and had excellent lighting. The wait staff and food was delicious for banquets food. We had side salad, bread, grilled chicken breast, asparagus and whipped potatoes. Cheesecake for dessert. I am not sure if it was catered by the hotel or by an outside vendor. The bathrooms is where I was let down- when you are spending almost 4 hours anywhere, you are bound to use the restrooms at least once, if not more. Theirs need serious remodeling. None of the doors lock and the doors go almost to the floor- so you can't even see if someone is occupying the stall. The stalls are awful- the toilet paper set back to far in the stall- making you bump your elbows, the toilet set off center because of this and you basically lean against the other side of the stall while doing you business. I watched numerous people get walked in on and the 2 stalls I used, neither locked. Not to mention- they needed cleaning attention. When you have 200 people using your event room- you should have someone checking the restrooms often. Period. Yes- the restrooms absolutely lowered the stars on this review. Ruth Chris Steakhouse is located here- and I hope they have their own restrooms in their restaurant. read more

nice staff, but for $200 a night this hotel is not worth it. the cabinets in the bathroom are literally peeling apart, the ac unit had an "aesthetic" cover. however; i called down to the front desk because it was so hot and stuffy in the room. maintenance removed the ac topper that he even said does nothing, and now it's just awkwardly there. room has a weird smell, and still feels very humid. i could have stayed down the road at a nicer hotel for the same price (which i thought i was, i was confusing this hotel and another on accident.) update: i left after a bug fell on my head and moved to the hyatt across the way. was told there that they get a lot guest that leave double tree due to the same issues i experienced. i will not return to the doubletree ever again. read more
