My friend from Tampa showed me this place and he heard about it from his friends. I'm so glad we got to try it! They have both sweet and savory items so it hits both cravings. The doughnuts are amazing and the fried chicken biscuits are amazing too!

I have to tell you how friendly and nice the staff is here...I called them today to get a meal ordered. They were very nice ...I ordered the 8 piece Family meal and it came with 4 Biscuits and two sides and I ordered two Mac and Cheese for sides...Chicken was crispy and delicious and Mac and Cheese and Biscuits as well..only thing, that was disappointing to my boys there was only one Thigh and 3 Legs but other than that, everything was perfect and food was 5 stars for sure....support small local business ....

I didn't try the donuts as far as the fried chicken goes. It was nice and crispy and served hot. However, it was very salty. The mac & cheese was too much. The cheese to noodle ratio was a little overbearing. The biscuit tasted microwaved. Fried Oka was pretty good.

We've been twice to Dough J's & each time has been very good! The first time we went we ordered the buffalo chicken wrap, chicken tender sandwich, glazed donut holes, and an apple fritter. The chicken tender sandwich was sooo good! I was worried about the coleslaw since I don't usually like it but it compliments the sandwich nicely. Chicken is crispy and not too oily! The second time we went we only got donuts & they were all very good. The cream filled donut was excellent. The cream wasn't too sweet which is PERFECT. The donut holes are pretty big & soft. The mural inside its super cute too, it has all the specialty donuts painted. The employees were also very nice. The lady made nice conversation while we waited and the cook was able to accommodate my sauce request. I enjoyed this experience! I just wish they served breakfast all day. They also run out of most donuts earlier in the day.

WORD ON THE STREET? DONUTS! There's a new place to eat some devilishly good hole-y treats! Great news for bonafide dough nuts! Dough J's opens at 6am and closes at 2. They stay pretty busy. Fab One & I got there just before noon, right before the lunch bunch. We ordered a dream selection of goodies. Hmmmmm, let me have one of those white-cream-filled eclairs. And a coconut donut for her. And we'd like 2 orders of the 3 piece Southern Fried Chicken Meal, please! I ordered my Fried Chicken meal with a side of Mac & Cheese, she chose a side of French Fries with hers. It took a bit before our meals were ready, but we did NOT mind waiting! Two reasons. Reason number 1? We had a temptation bag of gluten-y goodness sitting right in front of us at our table. Inside that bag a coconut donut AND a scrumptious eclair were just begging to be bitten. One bite into that eclair my eyes were rolling back inside my head. My taste buds were tap dancing. I was in the presence of greatness. King Eclair, I declared! I glanced at Fab One sitting next to me. What I saw was a pixie-grinning beauty with a coconut mustache! She giggled like a kid sneaking into the cake batter when mom ain't looking! Reason number 2 not minding the wait? When you can hear the deep fryer sizzlin' on the other side of the wall, you KNOW you're fried chicken is frying up fresh! By the time our meals were ready, we'd managed to resist the urge to completely consume our prized pastries! Gotta save some for later!!! At least for the ride home.... We've heard the buzz about how good Dough J's fried chicken tastes, so we were consumed with anxiety. Ready, Set, Go. Upon opening my foam box I will admit I was disappointed from the get go. What I'd received was a drumstick and not one, but two rather small wings. Period. Well, and a dab of Mac & Cheese and a biscuit. (Picture included in review) I guess had the wings been a bit bigger it might not have been such a visual shock. I firmly believe a 3-piece order of chicken should include a breast, drumstick/thigh and a wing, at the minimum. Getting past this I took my first bite into the drumstick. It WAS piping hot, of course. AND, it was crunchy coated delicious! Absolutely delicious. Looking over at Fab One's reveal, lifting the lid she had received a breast, drumstick and a wing. Huh? Imagine that. She could tell I was a bit perplexed, so she gave me a chunk of chicken breast. It was very good. We both agreed the fried chicken was really, really flavorful with an excellent crunchy coating! I'll give Dough J's 2 wings up, LOL. DEFINITELY a Hit with the donuts, doughnuts or do-nuts. And the fried chicken, when portioned correctly, is a Home Run!

It's been a while since I visited and last review, so I decided to enjoy a hotdog after a ride on…read moremy friend's horse. I ordered outside and decided to do a footlong Nathan Chicago dog. It was about 7.50 after paying in cash. I waited for a couple minutes, and it my name was called to pick up my order. I ate outside in a small bench. The hotdog was loaded with the toppings like relish, pickles, and peppers. I added mustard and ketchup too. The hotdog was plump, and the toppings were alright. It isn't as good as Portillos, but still decent for the price. It was filling for lunch too. The atmosphere is the same, but the party room in the back is now available in you have an extra air conditioned space to eat. It wasn't that crowded outside, but there were quite a few inside. I guess more people wanted the cooler area as it was a bit hot and humid outside. Parking can sometimes be hard to get in the front, so there is a back area too. There is a small stage for concerts now, but I haven't seen any yet. The mechanical horse still works, but the dino one was out of order, and the dolphin one looks to be gone. Staff is pretty quick and friendly. I am glad I ate here again on Sunday as the food was good and filling. No complaints for 7.50 on a footlong Nathan Chicago dog. Will continue to visit occasionally when I am in Brooksville. Overall: B

We came by this place while we were visiting FL by a road sign, so we decided to check it out!!…read more Walked in and was greeted very friendly! We told the woman behind the counter we were newbies and she said welcome and told us to just study the board. We both decided on the Long New Yorker with a side of fries. It was cut in half, (think foot-long) it was a little hard to eat, but it was so deliciously filled with yummy ingredients. It had Kraut, spicy mustard and a sweet onion sauce like they have in NY. It was so good, but when I am in the area again, I'll just opt for the short version. :) Stop in and give this gem since 1960 a chance, who knows, you might even run into Elvis while you are there. ;)
