Wow! I'm favoriting this place on Yelp. They're crazy good! Great customer service too! They don't have parking but you can easily find parallel parking in front, across the street, or on a side street. Anyway, they are outright feminist here. Yay! From the mugs on display for purchase by the door to the pictures on the wall. Yes, yes, yes!!!!!!! They also fly the LGBTQ flag. Yay!! We should always welcome everyone. Food is a little pricey but worth it. It's locally sourced. I ordered breakfast bread pudding which was in the window on display. It had egg, bacon, and some type of binding ingredient with the bread. Very good! I had it with a side of potatoes which had a nice, delicious, thick tomato sauce with it. I also had Thunderkiss coffee. Sooo good! My friends both got the same dish as each other. It was a ham biscuit which had egg, and cheese, horseradish mayo, and sprouted greens. It was really lovely to look at. It came with a side of salad which was also colorful and pleasingly put together. We also shared a rosemary and grapefruit scone. Wow! Very interesting flavors. Very good though! One of my friends got rose lemonade. Wow! Amazing! We loved EVERYTHING ! I'd come back and try everything on the menu! It's a small space, but we came on a Wednesday morning at 10 and there were a few tables still open. It's a hipster hangout as I saw many here. Lots of plants all around too. The cafe Breakfast FOODs are FANTASTIC! Sadly this is where the joy ends. Their pies are another story. Needing pies for Thanksgiving, I bought slices to sample w my friends. (Ginger Cranberry Pear, Brown Butter Pumpkin, Pecan, & Apple). All slices had VERY TOUGH CRUSTS & were difficult to cut through. They didn't taste like butter to any of the 5 friends & myself that tried them either. Ginger Cranberry Pear had the best flavor, but the tough crust made it unpleasant. Brown Butter Pumpkin: pumpkin part was grainy, & lacked something, but not sure what, & left a strange aftertaste. Apple: Mushy, NO texture, not fun to eat - like apple sauce purée-like even though we could see sliced apples. Very confusing. Pecan: Tasted of burnt pecans, very little "gel" Pecan pie lovers crave. It had choc chips NOT a layer of chocolate on the bottom. Huge bummer, we really thought we'd LOVE them. Definitely come for a meal, but maybe think twice about the pie. read more

Have been wanting to try this place for awhile after friends have given it great reviews. Finally got the chance today. The indoor seating is pretty limited to be prepared to wait or order food to-go. I was a little surprised when we got there to find their menu differed a bit from what was online- not sure if that's just a Sunday brunch thing or an everyday thing but they definitely had a limit selection today. They do have plenty of veggie and GF options which is always a plus. My brother ordered an avocado biscuit and I ordered their kitchen sink breakfast salad. The Ham Biscuit was good but I wasn't impressed by the pastries. I drove 2 hrs to try Dough Mama and got all the way there and felt it wasn't truly worth it. I sometimes come to Columbus to try out different food locations. I wanted to try them because their pies looked amazing on Instagram and Yelp, but sadly they aren't that good in my opinion. Their pastries are also expensive and the products aren't worth the price. I came with my 2 year-old daughter and I ordered the Ham Biscuit and I ordered her the French Toast. The Ham Biscuit consisted of Egg, greens, pickled onion, cheddar scallion biscuit, horseradish sauce and served with salad. This biscuit was actually very good and tender. You could tell it was homemade. The sandwich all together was a good sandwich with a good flavor. The French Toast wasn't anything special. It was two slices of thin bread, egg based and put on a griddle. The flavor was decent but I have had better French Toast. However, my daughter enjoyed it and didn't complain. The pastries I tried were a slice of the Honey Apple Pie and Salted Chocolate Chip Cookie. The Apple pie looked better than it tasted. To me the dough was a little soggy and the apples themself were slightly mushy and lacked in flavor. It didn't taste as good as I expected it to. The cookie was ok but it also wasn't anything special. It was a typical chocolate chip cookie cookie. Overall, I don't think Dough Mama was worth the 2 hr drive I made. read more

I just had the greatest cauliflower Reuben on the planet. Salad was very simple consisting of spring mix and a sour dressing, but the sandwich was 10/10. My sister is visiting Columbus and I knew I had to bring her to Dough Mama. It's a little bit pricey because everything is locally sourced and made with such care, so I don't usually come here often. I reserve it for special occasions, and it's soooooo worth it. My sister and I got the same thing: avocado biscuit and we added thick, juicy bacon. We split the banana biscuit and it was sweet and soft and everything banana pancakes should be. The biscuit comes with a salad or potato option and we chose potatoes. Everything was delicious and very filling. I couldn't finish it so I suggest coming with an empty stomach or a plan to take leftovers for later. Initially came in for the French onion soup that was advertised outside, but found out they were out of it :( I went with the seasonal quiche that had beets and leeks and the side of potatoes. I ordered it to go, but ended up eating inside because by the time it was ready (almost 20 min later) I was ready to eat! The quiche wasn't as warm or flavorful as I was expecting- the beets don't seem to be seasoned before getting cooked into the quiche and the potatoes were HOT, fresh out of the oven so that probably made the quiche seem less warm. A quaint little spot in Clintonville, we hit this spot on a Sunday afternoon. Not really sure how we found this place but find it we did. The seating is a bit limited but by the time you order at the counter and get your food, a seat usually opens up. It was a bit pricey for the amount of food we got (over $50 for three people) and quite loud due to the small size of the seating area. But the food was solid, all locally sourced. The ham biscuit was great, the horseradish definitely makes the meal so apply it liberally. My son destroyed the French toast which is surprising since there wasn't any syrup, just a flavorful peach compote and some brown sugar. Biscuits are top notch and freshly made. This is one of my absolute favorite breakfast spots. A very relaxed atmosphere, fast service, and consistently excellent food. You order at the counter, your food is brought to your table, and you bus your own table when you finish-- efficient and perfect for a quick morning bite. What a cute little spot! I went with a group of six at 9:30 am on Sunday and we just beat the rush, snagging a bigger table in a cozy corner. I like the laid back atmosphere, it almost felt like sitting around someone's kitchen table. The décor is cute but very simple, and all the employees were courteous. I had the avocado biscuit which was completely delicious, especially the cheddar biscuit and pickled onions. I wanted to get a quiche but the current flavor didn't appeal to me, so hopefully the next time I go it will be something I'll can order. I'm giving four stars instead of five due to the tea selection. The cup I had was perfectly fine but it was just a Bigelow tea bag in hot water... usually these cute local places have loose leaf tea or at least a local brand, something a little more exciting than what they served in my college dining hall. It was tasty, but I felt it could have used a bit more avocado. The biscuit was excellent though. I also ordered a Maple Cold Brew Latte (although I thought $4.5 was a bit pricey.) It was very good! I actually ordered a second one to go when I was leaving. I regretted getting the second one a bit because I was bouncing off the walls from all the sugar shortly after. I also wanted to mention the woman working the register and also brought our food out was extremely friendly. I wish I caught her name so I could mention it here. The small side salad looked somewhat blah, when my entree was brought out. I figured it'd be an after-thought. I. Was. Wrong! They toss the fresh arugula mix in a lite soyish? concoction. It was wicked good! I'll be very tempted to get a few extra servings of that side next time I stop in. With some chicken added, it's in my top three favorite salads around town. It's a very cute mom&pop shop. The decorations are very cute and it feels homey. The person that takes your order was very nice, really everyone there was. My friend and I got the Avocado Biscuit with the salad it comes with. It was about $10 and it was definitely worth it. Can't say enough about this place. After about 5 years of hearing about it and seeing posts on Facebook I decided to go find it. When I walked in the 1st thing I thought was omg how cute. The decor is very welcoming I think I saw bags that said butter babies and immediately wanted one. Ok. On to the food. I definitely don't have bakery vocabulary but the host was friendly and walked me through everything. I ended up trying the apple pie, a pumpkin scone (not a cookie like I thought it was lol) , bread pudding and the buckeye brownie. It was all amazing. Like theres no words. Everything was great. The pie was easily the best I've had, the brownie was moist and the peanut butter icing is outrageous. The bread pudding is unique, ive never had anything like it but it was delicious. Ideally I would give 3.5 stars. I wanted to love this place for brunch especially since most other places I normally go to during the week for brunch close by 2 or 3pm. Sadly it was just very underwhelming. We had the stuffed French toast, the ham biscuit sandwich, scallion cheddar biscuit, apple pie and chocolate chip salted cookie. Fresh toast: my hubby somewhat enjoyed the odd combination of Nutella passion fruit curd and a cake or brownie crumble on top. I dislike fruit and chocolate so I was not a fan but regardless I just thought the flavors didn't mesh well. Hubby would have preferred less Nutella and curd and more bread. He also said it wouldn't be the first thing he would order. The sandwich I just wish would a have came out warmer. The biscuit had a good flavor and overall it was a decent sandwich. But I wasn't amazed by it. I love biscuits and have tried many, can't say it was in my top 5. The biscuit was crumbly and fell apart. Overall I felt it's was okay. It came with a side salad that seemed to have an Asian inspired dressing. Tasty but a bit salty and overwhelming for being paired with this sandwich. Cheddar biscuit : it was warm and tasty. Definitely tasted better warmed up. Apple pie: had good flavor , crust was tasty. I would have this again. The only thing that bothered me was that we paid in cash and I'm not sure if before touching my pie the cashiers hands were washed. Cookie : it reminded me of a chips ahoy flavor. It was once again okay. We did not enjoy the salt concentrated in the center of cookie The cookie was picked out with a napkin at least. Short North and Downtown Columbus get most of the attention when it comes to food, but this cozy little Clintonville gem is one of my favorite spots for some breakfast or lunch. Started primarily as a pie business, this indie shop expanded due to its wild popularity and now serves scrumptious cafe meals including breakfast sandwiches, French toast, soup, quiche and more. All ingredients are locally sourced and are health conscious. My go-to item is the avocado biscuit (avocado-head here) with the side salad, but the salmon lox and avocado toast is a close second. I would be remiss if I didn't mention their bakery items, especially their crowning glory: PIE. The chocolate chip banana bread is a moist and heavenly treat sent from above and the blood orange shaker pie...I have no words. Just get it, you will not be disappointed. The decorations are eclectic and trendy, yet homey. As are the staff. The place inspires you to invite others to impress them. I've stopped by dough mama twice this fall and both times my experience has been great! First time I checked it out since Quincy General Store (another great business) was doing a pop up. I grabbed a cold brew and few slices of pie to go and enjoyed both. Last week I had a small Friendsgiving with close friends and instead of a whole pie, I decided to go for slices of different pies they had. They have such a variety including brown butter pumpkin pie, bourbon pecan, cranberry ginger pear (?), apple, and my favorite-buckeye!! All the pies were delicious, but I just love the peanut butter and chocolate creaminess with the crunch from the peanuts they add on. Service at dough mama is great. They only allow a small amount of customers at a time to go inside, and the space is small. They are very friendly, and take the time to nicely pack your pastries for you. This is a great local shop known for their pies, but I look forward to trying their many other options as well! read more
