Loved my experience at Dough Mama! The place is small, quaint, decorated, and super good vibes! The servers were all very nice and helpful too. I ordered the Quiche, which had an amazing crust. The eggs and beets in it were healthy and light but it was a little bland and could use more seasoning/flavor. Probably will order something else next time. The potatoes were rosemary heavy, which I absolutely loved! And the ketchup that came with it tasted homemade to me which was a nice change of pace. It was a little pricy for the amount of food you get. But Dough Mama has an atmosphere that can't be recreated, so it's also the experience. Listen up. I Freakin Love Dough Mama. I get it, Columbus is overrun with little hipster mason jar spots sporting artsy wall profanity and local jewelry for sale in the corner. BUT DOUGH MAMA IS SPECIAL. The food is just great. It's just really good. My favorites are the mushroom gravy and of course the cheddar scallion biscuit with some avocado action on top. Sometimes I just get the salad greens too - I have no idea what they do to that lettuce but it's something I can't get enough of. And since no one wants to hear about lettuce, the baked good are also SO good. Stop getting your trash muffins from Staufs and go to Dough Mama to get something that actually tastes delicious. Amazing food and a beautiful space! Yummy farm-to-table bites and locally roasted coffee make for a great snack to go or sit down meal. Items are being baked and prepared right behind the front counter, so you know that if you've got a bit of a wait, it's because it's for handmade goodness. Prices aren't by any means cheap, but I believe in paying the real cost of good food. It does get very crowded here during peak times, and there's no table service or real monitoring/policing of tables, which can lead to really long waits. Be sure to take a peek into the dining room before you order to dine in, as the front of house staff has no concern with the dining room and won't really be able to warn you if it's already stuffed to the gills. There's no good way for a cafe or restaurant to encourage folks to move along without risking making people mad...but I do wish they could do something to keep table turnover moving during brunch. Only open in the morning and early afternoon, which is a bummer if you want some evening pie or coffee. read more

Immediately loved the atmosphere and decor of this cafe when I stepped in. The service was friendly and you could see the staff making the homemade food right behind the counter. Also loved that the cafe supported multiple local artists, it had a great artsy aesthetic. The food was delicious and well presented, all for relatively nonexpensive prices. The eggnog cream pie was absolutely perfect in textures, with just the right amount of heaviness and sweetness as a dessert. Portions are on the smaller side considering the price of the entres. I didn't leave hungry, but I would have liked a little bit more food on my plate. Terrible experiences with good vegan food. Been here a few times. Forgot to take off my Trump hat when I went in there. I wear this everywhere around Clintonville - people are 95% normal. But here 100% uncomfortable and fearful experience. I was yelled at for asking a question about a sing/ad that was up while waiting, then after I said I am sorry a million times (stupid me forgot to take the hat off here) I was told by the owner to wait outside - OK, fine, COVID. But to then yell at me saying I should distance myself further .... well lets just say I can't eat this Meatless Meatloaf I like because I am afraid it was spit in. (They dropped something on the floor, looked at me, realized I saw it, went to the fridge .... amateurs in food service. 25 minute wait no one else in the store or outside too.) Food was good, but very overpriced. The meatless meatloaf has the consistency of hot dogs - so if that is what you are missing get the mustard, you will love it. If you miss meatloaf get something else. The sandwich was 2 slices of STORE BOUGHT BREAD (yes, mass produced too) with about 4 week old vinegar cured onions and some mystery sauce made of mayo and ketchup. $14 plus tax. The sodas here are the real winners, very good quality at a decent price of $3.50 My previous experiences here were OK, always a long wait and about a 800% markup on everything. 1/5 stars, would not go again after getting yelled at because of my hat. Truly ridiculous when you remember this place is super pro LGBT and Trump publicly supported gay marriage/rights way before Biden or Hillary or about 80% of the DNC..... maybe I should wear the hat more and educate the people. I really appreciate an open, bright, and cozy restaurant with indoor plants. Service- It's pretty much self served after you order your food. Utensils, water, and napkin is in the dining area. Confession: I've been stopping by Dough Mama for a couple of months now to get their daily hand-pie offering. I am happy to go out of my way to get some of their delicious pastry. We stopped by for breakfast on Saturday. Seems like the farmer's market a few blocks north thins out the crowd just enough to make dining in manageable - their dining area is small. There is a larger table in the dining room, but it's been generally a common table rather than a spot reserved for larger groups. Not much more than a 4-top at Dough Mama - although squeezing everyone in is a great idea. Parking isn't terrible in this area, but watch for no parking areas and bus stops. Now - the food. The hand pies, both savory and sweet, are AMAZING. Flaky crust, tender and rich fillings - absolute heaven. They don't fall apart, truly something you can eat on the go. Better than a protein bar, that's for sure. We sat down for their biscuits, though - crusty, crispy and infused with scallion, with poached egg, avocado or ham, with tomato and pickled onion. Add a side salad and voila! Something resembling a healthy breakfast. Kind of. They have French toast and other sweet things, as well as PIE like PIE. At the entrance is a small gift-shop area with local offerings, too. Come for breakfast, stop by for lunch, and grab a hand-pie to go. It's all good. read more

We ventured in a little after 930am on Saturday for breakfast - you order your food at the counter (try not to drool at the pies!) and pick your seat in the dining area. The restaurants itself is small - seemed like less than 20 could eat in the dining area. The coffee is flavorful as is their iced herbal tea! We opted for two biscuit breakfast sandwiches. We sat back and checked out the eclectic decor! The food arrived promptly - the cheddar scallion biscuit was so flavorful, the egg cooked over easy (ask for it over hard if you don't like a yolky sandwich), tomato and avocado slices fresh...and the side spinach salad simply dressed. It's the kind of food I like to make at home and enjoy! We couldn't leave without a slice of pie - we picked the cranberry pear ginger pie and the lemon lavender pie! Both were wonderful! Dough Mama is everything I hoped it would be. The sausage pie was absolutely perfect. Flaky crust, melty cheese, and the sausage was flavorful and savory with just a bit of sweet. Total comfort food. I'm a peanut butter pie addict, so I had to try the buckeye pie. It was some of the best I've had in Columbus. Yes, I'm the weirdo searching Yelp for 'Peanut Butter Pie' and visiting places just to try their desserts. Let's be friends. The decor is on point. Cactuses and retro furnishings abound. This is a super cute little restaurant and a nice addition to Clintonville. But, I wasn't as impressed as I wanted to be but not because the food wasn't tasty. We stopped here to try the breakfast sandwiches, a ham with a horseradish sauce and then an avocado with egg and greens and tomato. Maybe I'm just a glutton but at $7, I would have expected a heartier sandwich. They say that it comes with a side salad which is actually just a handful of spring mix with a light dressing on it. The biscuit was also a little bit on the small size. The cheddar chive scone was pretty delicious. I could eat that with gravy every morning. We also snagged a piece of their homemade bourbon chocolate pie. Again for $5, it was a pretty measly slice of pie. It was pretty chocolatey but not as bourbony as I would have liked. They do have a little gift shop/bookshelf area with local vendors which I think is awesome. Overall, we spent $19 on basically a breakfast snack (not even coffee). I am so excited to have Dough Mama in Clintonville! It is a much needed addition to the area as the bakery variety is really lacking here. Dough Mama is just south of North Broadway in Clintonville. I went on a Friday morning around 8 and there was plenty of parking on the street - not sure what the parking situation is on the side streets so make sure to check parking signs if you can't find a spot on High St. When you walk inside, there are two signs above the register and bakery case that show the kinds of pie/pastries/prices. There is another sign on the wall to the left that has the breakfast sandwich/lunch menu. I decided to get the avocado biscuit sandwich to eat at the cafe, and I took home a pumpkin scone, quiche, and maple bourbon pecan pie. There is self-serve water in the cafe area which is much appreciated. If you are eating in the cafe, they give you a number to put on your table and they bring out your food when it is ready. Every single item I tried was outstanding. The breakfast sandwich was one of my favorite sandwiches I've had in Columbus. The sandwich consists of a cheddar-scallion biscuit (amazing on its own) with a over-medium egg, picked onion, tomato, avocado and micro greens. The creaminess of the avocado and egg yolk was complimented by the acidity in the pickled onion and the bitterness of the micro greens. Every bite was wonderful - it is so obvious that the person who created this sandwich put a lot of thought and effort into creating a unique breakfast sandwich. The pumpkin pecan scone had such great flavor and texture. There were whole pecans throughout the scone. The edges were crisp and the inside was moist and delicious. Sometimes I have issues with pumpkin flavored pastry/dessert because the cinnamon/nutmeg/cloves overwhelm the taste - This scone was perfectly balanced with the spices and not overly sweet. I'm really looking forward to getting another one soon because the flavors reminded me of the fall and holiday season. My boyfriend had the bourbon pecan pie and loved it. I'm not a bourbon fan so I didn't taste it. He said the bourbon flavor was subtle but still prevalent throughout the whole slice. I had the butternut squash, caramelized onion and goat cheese quiche for breakfast the following day. Absolutely perfect. The pie crust was flakey and buttery. I could taste every individual flavor of the quiche and they all worked well together. There is no doubt in my mind that Dough Mama will become my go-to bakery in Columbus.
