Today was my root canal, and I honestly cannot believe how easy the experience was. I didn't even feel the numbing injection, nor did I experience any paid from the procedure being done at all. However, if I ever find myself needing to go to an endodontist, I will know who to trust. My dentist suggested Dr. Shoushtari when he saw I had some inflammation on my gum line. I already had a root canal from a previous dentist and since it was so old, it had gotten reinfected. I was so nervous to go to someone new because I trust my dentist, but he said I had to see a specialist--an endodontist. Dr. Shoushtari and his team put me at ease right away. One of the aspects that makes him different is that he explains everything as he works. When he first saw my gum, he explained that there were 3 different things that could be happening. He did a 3D X-ray and it ended up being option 2-which was a reroot canal. He walked me though the procedure. The dental assistant put me at ease too. It's really the little things that make a difference, like she got me a little cup to put my earrings in when I had to do the X-Ray. Also, they applied vaseline to my lips so they wouldn't get dry during the procedure. Throughout the procedure Dr. Shoushtari kept checking in and telling me how long each part would take and what to expect from each part of the procedure. The receptionist is also very sweet and helpful and made sure I understood my treatment plan. All in all, I felt very taken care of. I felt like they went the extra mile to make sure I understood what was happening and what to expect. I hope I don't have to see an endodontist in my future, but if I do, at least I know I will be taken care of by the best of the best! La Jolla Endodontist is professional and kind. It's very important to have root canals done by Endodontists, but they are not all the same! I can tell that Dr. Herold specializes in Micro Endodontics because he has the precision tools necessary and his technique is very unobtrusive -- making it MUCH less painful for ME and less disruptive to the rest of the tooth with a small entry point so I didn't need to opt for a crown right away. My jaw wasn't even soar from the surgery which was quick and painless. My husband is an oral surgeon and was also very impressed with Dr. Herold's technique, outcomes, and professionalism! I just know that I felt better immediately the next day and was really great experience in his office with all the high tech tools utilized! They sent me to a Jayson tengonciang and they are a huge rip off. They wanted me to do some appointment to see what the emergency was- even tho im being sent by a supposed close doctor. I told them the other doctor told me I definitely needed a root canal. They said they have to look at it themselves and take their own X-rays and see if I need a root canal.... So they want to take all new X-rays even tho I just took 18 yesterday they could use from the doctor office who is supposedly connected to them??? So I'm going to have to double pay for xray? I can understand having to take new X-rays if the ones I took were a week old or something but I took 18 X-rays YESTERDAY. This place is the biggest scam I've ever seen. People can barely buy groceries and they want to charge me for new X-rays even tho I took some YESTERDAY. The receptionist JULES was very short and hung up on me. Didn't even try to fix the situation or work with my financial situation. This place is full of crooks who are money hungry and dgaf about their patients wellbeing. Beware Edit: I have an extreme fear of the dentist and this experience has just solidified how much a rip off these dentists are. The only thing they care about is how many procedure they can force you to pay for. These people know that you need your teeth to eat, that an infection in your teeth could kill you but all they care about is money money money. During my root canal, he first numbed the surface thoroughly, then administered the deeper injection along my jawline so slowly and gently that I barely felt it. He checked in with me after every small step and only continued when I confirmed I was comfortable. That same care continued through the entire procedure - he was attentive, patient, and constantly made sure I was doing fine. I was in and out in one hour (9-10 AM) with zero pain during or after. I was even able to eat on that side soon afterward. Beyond his technical excellence, Dr. Do is an extraordinary human being. I had accidentally left my wallet at home and mentioned my gas tank was empty. He overheard, and after finishing the root canal, he handed me $10 cash for gas so I could get home. When I offered to Zelle him back, he kindly refused, saying he understood what it's like. Dr. Do is professional, gentle, attentive, and deeply compassionate.
