They are indeed affordable. They're also very caring and kind and didn't try to upsell me on a package or anything. The just listened to what my mom wanted and did exactly that. They do offer a number of services here (well the main ones are literally in their name). I hope you don't need this type of service BUT if and when you do, this is a stand up operation and they were great.

When we told the others what we were looking for they each told us the cookie cutter assembly line way they did things. The owner of this firm, Matt Johnsrud, took the time to understand what we wanted and then bent over backwards to provide exactly that. My spouse described him as like an angel who swooped into a bad situation and handled it is a way that gave us great comfort. He was up front about his prices which were the lowest in town and applied no sales pressure whatsoever but we hired him because of his flexibility and sensitivity. He personally handled everything from pickup at the hospital to drop off at the crematorium. This is the best experience we have ever had with a funeral director. We recommend him unconditionally. This sounds corny but when I die I hope it is in Duluth and that Matt handles thing.

Larissa assisted us with completing and posting the obituary, arranged for the service vocalist and pianist, ordered the flowers and coordinated the grave opening and burial. Her assistants Jenny and Brianna expertly and graciously quarterbacked the visitation, memorial service and gravesite ceremony. Our family is extremely grateful to Larissa and her staff for their kind, compassionate and exceptional service, and we highly recommend them to anyone in need of funeral arrangements.

WARNING - IF YOU WANT TO GET RIPPED OFF & DEAL WITH THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE, BY ALL MEANS COME…read moreHERE!!!! Let me explain... My mom & I were going around town looking for an Urn. No one wants to go Urn shopping & it's hard enough going into a funeral home. This was our 3rd stop. When turning from the street, you'll notice there are several buildings. The one you want to go into is the log cabin looking building. Upon entering, you'll notice the door is difficult to open. If you can get it open congrats, otherwise, there is likely no one around paying attention to customers coming in. It's a nice building, it seems new. It screams EXPENSIVE & 'WE LIKE TO PREY ON GRIEVING PEOPLE'. You see, we walk around to the front desk area where you would expect a sympathetic employee greeting potential grieving customers upon arrival. Was there anyone working at the desk? NOT A SOUL!!! I looked around a couple minutes, & coughed, thinking that SOMEONE may just hear me. Nope. MY mom finally got the attention of this oblivious employee in the back that was more into herself than us. Mind you, when my mom got her attention, she gave me the impression as if 1. she didn't really like to help 2. 'oh great another customer. go away i'm busy' look. Anyways, she showed us the showroom where all the urns are. I found an awesome looking black one, but it was in the $500-$700 range. THAT IS RIDICULOUS. Who would pay that much, when you can buy the same one for $136?! She said to us "excuse our mess, we are unloading more urns today" - ok I get that the place is a disaster, but help us out. My mom & I were looking for a green one, those seem to be rare. After she said that, the lady told us "be right back, I am going to go check in the back if we have any other ones" My mom & I waited & waited. We eventually gave up, & she told the lady we are leaving. What blew my mind is that the lady WENT BACK TO HER DESK (instead of looking in the back for more Urns). It turns out the lady was helping someone else!!! She completely blew my mom & I off!! I'm sure she did, thinking we weren't going to hand out $800 for one of their urns. This was the worst customer service ever. DO NOT BUY AN URN HERE. HOW can you ignore customers? Well this place does! If you can wait & order online, I KID YOU NOT, I found the exact same black & gold floral urn for $136 (not including shipping). This business loves to prey & take advantage of people!!!

My family member had their funeral thru Atkins…read more At the meeting with the funeral director the first thing that was asked was life insurance policy number without being told sorry for our loss. It kept going downhill from here when putting up on a huge screen the pricing and providing a small little handout with photos of the floral arrangements. Very bad bedside manner for a funeral director. Not empathic enough. The guestbook and memorial service program had multiple spelling and grammar errors in them even after doing multiple edits and corrections and relaying that to the staff. The address was also incorrect in the memorial service program, the pallbearers also weren't listed. The requested poem wasn't printed instead another poem was printed and it had a spelling error! The violinist was also not printed. Overall steer clear! Check out the other funeral home in town.
