    Cabbage soup - bowl 2
    Steve S.

Finally got here after 4 yrs in Denver. It's everything everyone says. Great attentive nice bartenders Shelby and Meg! Had a big bowl of cabbage soup, it was so good ate a 2nd one! Have to go back and get me some of the amazing looking Shepards Pie and/or one of those 1/2 gorgeous looking burgers. Thanks!

This place is fantastic! If you happen to be in the Baker neighborhood of Denver do yourself a favor and stop by Dougherty's for some delicious whiskey and soup and say hi to Wes (the owner) and Winston (his chocolate lab/maitre d') thank me later.

Nice Irish dive - right up my alley. Pleasant staff. Heard they have a nice St. Pats celebration.

Joined during St Patty's Day, enjoyed the ambiance of it and seeing the bagpipes. Just needed more of a variety on drinks.

Well we couldn't and after exploring the botanical gardens and grabbing a beer at a brewery this was our chosen spot to grab a bite to eat! We sat at the bar and the bartender was friendly, we did not have a drink so cannot speak to that. Food wise after quite a few days we both felt like being a little on the healthy side. We both decided on a chicken Cesar wrap, only difference is I grabbed fries and my wife had onion rings. In the end we agreed that fries were superior! Honestly the best fries of our trip so far! So crisp thanks to the breading used, that gave the perfect crunch. Onion rings were decent and the wraps were tasty. The vibe is dive bar/sports bar that I assume is a great spot for locals who live nearby. As the name implies they do have a decent amount of decor that is goat related. Two other patrons came in looking to watch a soccer game and the bartender made sure it was on for them. Like I said we cannot speak to the actual bar experience since we skipped on drinks but in our experience it was the perfect stop. May be a little bias in liking and appreciating the name.

The bar has a unique vibe, and the patio is large, spacious, and a great place to unwind. Our server was cheerful and attentive, the drinks were well made, and the food was delicious. Stopped in on what turned into a pretty busy Friday night, and the place is interesting to say the least. It's a converted old house, so all of the dining/bar areas are tucked into different rooms, around corners, up and down stairs. Ended up sitting at the bar in the first room. The bartenders were friendly, knew the regulars and their orders, and did their best with the rush. Oddly, there is a "seat yourself" policy, but because of the quirky layout that seems to involve wandering room to room, on multiple levels, until you find a spot. At one point, one of the bartenders was told there were no more seats, and she replied to the customer "Yeah, we might need to start a list. Try upstairs and we'll get to you." Later on, she said to the other bartender "I should check upstairs to see if I have any tables up there"- bad news for anyone seated up there. As far as the menu, it's pretty large and all over the place. I'd expected Irish staples and while they were there, I was surprised to see items like a falafel wrap, Buffalo wings, spinach-Artichoke dip, a shrimp basket, ribs... when I see a menu like that, I'm always prepared for pre-made food from some distributor and nothing special. Ended up getting the Shepherd's Fries, Beer Cheese Soup and Irish Castro (Irish spin on a Cuban). The fries were good, and the portion was MASSIVE. 3-4 people could easily split them as a large appetizer. The soup was pretty good, but nothing great, as was the Irish Castro. The one ding on the Castro is the pickles are huge, and pretty overpowering. All-in-all, it's a fun and kitschy place, and I see why the regulars come back. Decent food, friendly service, a little disjointed, but I would describe it as a good place to hang with some friends and catch a game. It's not really a traditional Irish Pub with yummy Irish staples.

The soup was classic comfort food at it's best. It had caramelized onions in a savory rich broth, topped with gooey melted Swiss cheese & a toasted baguette, it was fantastic. Any time I go to Denver for a conference, I try to make it out here. I went in the middle of the day for lunch and there were a couple tables and people at the bar, but not crazy busy. Staff is informative and friendly. We got the: 1) Chips and Curry: -It's house made fries and curry sauce. -I'm used to Japanese curry, so I'm always a little bit taken aback when the curry has a bit of sweetness to it, but delicious either way. Slightly sweet and savory curry with lots of layered spices to it. Went deliciously with the chips. 2) English Breakfast: -Comes with 2 eggs (your choice for the style), rashers (thick cured pork), bangers (sausage), baked beans, tomatoes, mushrooms, toast, and we added some black pudding for $2. -Always get English breakfast when you get a chance to. Filling and comforting. Great diversity of textures and savory, salty, and umami flavors. Gotta get the black pudding too. 3) Scotch Egg: -Comes with spicy mustard. -I LOVE scotch eggs. I'm a low key hardboiled egg enjoyer, so the addition of the sausage layer around with the deep fried breadcrumbs and dipped in mustard? Divine. I will always order this when I see it and this was good! 4) Honey Mustard Chicken Sandwich: -You get a choice of fries or tots. We got the tots. -It's made with bacon, Swiss cheese, tomato, and onion. -It's alike a nice twist and upgrade to a grilled cheese sandwich. Sweetness from honey mustard, saltiness and crispiness from the bacon, juicy tomatoes. Good stuff. Make sure to use the mustard and HP sauce. Good stuff!
