I've been in 3 weeks in a row for a late breakfast between 10 and 11am on Saturdays. 1st and 3rd time the service was outstanding, Kayla, I believe is her name, and Megan were amazing and I told them so. My coffee cup was never empty and they were both super nice and polite. I had the hillbilly and the Rancher on these visits and the food was excellent. Finally got around to trying this place out and thought it was great! Our waitress was nice and she was very quick with everything. The food came out so fast and was presented nicely. It was a nice midday meal and it all tasted great! My sister especially loved the way her burger came out. It was shaped like a rectangle instead of the normal circle, which we thought was a nice touch. My momar sandwich was pretty good as well. I liked the touch of pesto, I just wish the chicken itself had more flavor. Overall though, it was definitely worth stopping by. Not to mention, the food is incredibly cheap and affordable! I would love to try their breakfast as I'm sure this is what they are most recognized for. Next time I'm in, that's definitely a must! read more

We normally love this place and are quite the regulars... but today kinda left a sour taste in my mouth. While the service is wonderful the menu took me off guard, my now normal order of loaded tots has been altered even though the menu still shows it the same. So it's a double hit. Still will be our rotation as the homey vibe and wonderful service but maybe just not as often. read more

Went here today to try someplace new while my car was being worked on. We walk in and not knowing what to expect, to our surprise it was packed, every table was full. Was happy - this usually means good food. We were never greeted. Two minutes of waiting doesnt sound like a long time but when you havent even been greeted it certainly is. After being seated we were immediately greeted by our server. She was amazing throughout the whole dining experience. Main dish was good. Side dishes are a little bland. French onion soup seemed to be made with water and not beef stock or bouillon. Green chili was ok but not the best. Everything was cooked well and temperature of food was perfect. Would go here again. Combination of bland side dishes and not being greeted is the only reasons this place is getting a 4. read more

I really wanted to email Doug's directly but I couldn't find an email address so I will have to do this publicly. We have been eating at Doug's a very long time and it used to be 5 stars. Since COVID it has been hit or miss, mostly miss on the food quality. The public facing staff is still great. The specific issue we have is with the mountain of browns (freshly cut hash-brown potatoes). They were perfect for years. Now the come very under-cooked in the middle and slightly burnt on the outside unless you ask for extra-crispy. In that case they come so over cooked and burnt to be almost inedible. Extra-crispy used to be a nice crunchy brown. The biscuits are have also been hit or miss. A few visits ago the biscuit was so burnt I threw it away (it was a to go order). This time it was under-grilled but at least I could eat it. This isn't a one off. It has been going on for a few years now. We will still keep going back hoping the cook can get the timing right. We so want the food quality to get back to where it was. read more

Ah, what's better than a family owned restaurant, nothing. The restaurant was clean and orderly. Covid measures are practiced. The decor , is quaint and fits perfectly for the menu. The.menu offers a variety of foods with a twist to the ordinary. The combinations for the burritos and omelets were unique. The food was cooked fresh and came out timely.manner , but was not warm;which was surprising. The food , was not to die for , but was decent- if you are in the area. I wouldn't specifically drive here again to eat. Our waiters was nice but forgot about us, and the restaurant was not crowded. But she did fill my water with asking. They are a good size but zero taste even with the toppings added. Fries were not hot or fresh but limp, like they had been sitting around. Not impressed. This place is a typical diner, nothing to rant and rave about, nothing to really complain about, except one thing. It's always hot in there. Doesn't matter if it's winter or summer, it's always like 78 degrees. I think they need better ventilation because it's always stuffy and sometimes smelly. There is nothing worse than sitting down to eat and having hot fumes of cleaning chemicals from the booth next to you, or the smell of mop water wafting over while you eat. Flavor is average, portions are pretty decent, prices are a little much for what it is in my opinion, service is average. I don't love it, and I don't hate it. I can take it or leave it. read more

Get out now? Beware! So we were kicked out of the restaurant when a women/waitress /manager came to the table to tell us to leave. She started out by stating that we were told twice to leave. I was appalled when confronted in such a manner. First of all, we were never told there was a time limit, secondly when the waitress took our bill she never said anything to us about the need to leave, thirdly no one ever said anything about needing the table. I told the women that approach us this information and her only reply was "how stupid of them, they told me they did." So we left. Sitting outside of the door was one family of four, who would not of fit in a table that sits 2 people. Hmmm! I started to go back in to address this and noticed the fine small print on the door that said please limit seating to 90 minutes. I admit I didn't see the sign and would not have been looking for a small letter sized announcement, not to mention the door was blocked with people when I came up. However, there is no excuse for being in rude and loud. Go get training on how to approach a customer properly (hint), they are supporting your establishment. My favorite thing about Doug's Day Diner is there homemade jam/jelly. I am not a fan of jelly/jam normally - but this stuff was incredible and deserves 5 stars on its own. I honestly love Doug's Day Diner and I've never had problems with visiting this restaurant in the past, but I wasn't too impressed with my last experience. A friend of mine had informed me of the special that is going on right now with breakfast burritos being $2 each or buy one get one free with a drink, so I was really excited about this! Last Friday, May 22nd, I had called around 730am to place a pick up order for some breakfast burritos and the employee I spoke with had an attitude and didn't seem pleased to be speaking with me. I wasn't thrilled about this considering I was trying to give a small business my money for their amazing food. I've also been coming to this restaurant for years now and I have never had a negative experience. Thank god the breakfast burritos made up for the negative experience, but still just wasn't impressed with the service. Still recommend trying this place out for food as it never disappoints and small businesses need our help more than ever during this pandemic! Hopefully the attitude of this employee I spoke with changes because it wasn't pleasant. read more

My husband and I actually had breakfast for lunch on this day the place was packed, but we got seated quickly , coffee and water to the table fast too! The menu is big, lots of choices. I had a bowl with hash browns, eggs, carne asada, green chili and country gravy...delicious! I also wanted to try the griddle biscuit with home made peach jam, delicious, but heavy! My husband got the same thing, but with ham and bacon and a side pancake, portions are big. The only reason I am giving 4 stars is because our order was forgotten, the waitress did not check in with us even as other meals were being served to those around us, who came in after us. Let me begin with the fact that i LOVE diner normally. This was so bad. I'm not exaggerating it was the worst breakfast I have every had. All four of our meals were bad. I ordered Huevos Rancheros, my normal favorite with over medium eggs. My eggs were almost raw, very runny. I sent it back. They came back 1 min later with what was obviously my plate. In todays world ALOT of those nostalgic diners are disappearing from the landscape. The "greasy spoon" type comfort food of breakfast where you get home fries smothered in green chili, gravy or both. But they also offer the lite side as well but if you have a craving for an excellent cup of coffee that is always filled to the brim - good fresh food cooked fast - come on in. Best servers ever. First and foremost! But I'll tell you this: There's a breakfast item not on the menu called "The Mark" and it's THE BEST diner breakfast I've ever had. I'll start by saying we have been a few times now, this time we were camping at Cherry Creek and wanted breakfast without a mess so Dougs was the spot. As usual my omelet was pretty good, could of Used more than a thin slice of Swiss on top, nothing special but ok, probably would not order this item again. My wife had a breakfast burrito that she said was good. My complaint is FOX news on. I feel like a restaurant should be welcoming everyone, having FOX Sunday morning news on does not at all feel welcoming as a same sex couple. I manage a food business also and we're super careful that every person feels comfortable and welcomed. I'm not a weird screaming liberal, just in the middle someplace and would say the same it MSNBC was on. Just not what should be playing if you don't want people feeling welcomed. Just not sure we will go back, we have many choices. It's unfortunate. read more
