We arrived after church with a group of about 22 people. We called ahead of time for a table. We were greeted upon entry. Now this was me and my kiddos first time eating at Black Eye Peas... Once seated I noticed the little sketch pads for the kiddos. I thought it was so cute and neat with the menu on the back. My kiddos were es static about it and enjoyed the fun it bought to the table. Our waiter came over and took our drink orders. Which consisted of sweet tea with lemon, strawberry lemonades, raspberry lemonade, chocolate milk, root beer, Dr Pepper, Sprite and water with lemon. He was very polite, patient and attentive. They bought some rolls and butter for the table. The restaurant was packed with family enjoying Easter dinner and fellowshipping. The ambience was laid back and family oriented. So the vibe was very pleasant. I ordered a grilled chicken breast and loaded baked potato. The kiddos had pizza and fries, cheeseburger and fries, chicken strips and applesauce. My husband had a steak, broccoli, with rice medley. Others had the salmon with veggies, fried catfish with salad, ribs and fries, steak with red beans and rice, sweet potato and pot roast with potatoes and veggies. Everything thing was delicious. Because I orders took so long they gave us some cakes. We had the lemon with raspberry sauce, the chocolate cake and the carrot cake... My apologies for not having pics this time. Traditional southern style diner-- the food, ambiance and all around vibe. We came here with some friends for dinner and there was a good crowd but able to seat immediately without a reservation. The menu is pretty robust with a handful of options to choose from. The meals were all pretty heavy (as expected)-- not my personal style/ favorite. Someone put a giant hairball hidden in my potatoes. I cannot stop puking and hair is caught in my throat. I called the restaurant and corporate and some guy in the background, cussed me out. Now I'm going to the ER because I've never pulled this much in my life. This was very intentional and the corporate people couldn't have been more disrespectful, dismissive and irresponsible about food safety. I WOULD NOT EVER EAT HERE. Like for real. Sad. The restaurant appearance was fine upon entering. We thought it had some potential. The experience went slowly downhill from there. We described the staff energy as in a state of malaise. We were immediately told how busy it was today and to sit where we wanted. There was no response when we said that it was our first visit. I used to eat at Black Eyed Pea 20 years ago and remembered it being really good. Anyway, we ordered and waited 25 minutes for our uninspired, bland meals. It was 330 in the afternoon and the restuarant was empty. I was hungry so even a decent meal would have hit the spot. Our chicken fried chicken meals were bland and boring. My 88 year old compatriot rated it a 4 or 4.5 out of ten. I immediately agreed. Ok whatever right? Let's be honest about these mid level chain type restaurants. They seem to shoot for mediocre. When it came time to pay I put out a $100 bill. The manager came over and said he couldn't accept $100 bills. He said this directive came down from corporate? I paid with other "more acceptable" cash while shaking my head. There's more but I will cut this short...Obviously, never again. read more

Not the best meal I've had. The red beans and rice were sub-par Very watery and lacking flavor. The fries taste as though they were fried in the same oil as everything else. The fried chicken was very bland I tried to power through and eat it with ranch and Tabasco. Unfortunately this did not help. My oldest got the pasta and marinara Which basically after trying to add extra sauce turned it into red water and noodles. My wife didn't finish her meal as well. Its a great place to get some comfy food that you are use to. How about meat loaf and some greens with rolls or corn bread? Just like what mom use to make... I have been coming in sporadically to enjoy a drink at the bar with some finger food. There are always, plenty of parking. Always greeted by friendly host/hostess. I usually let them know I want to seat at the bar since there are always few available spot. Last time, I got half order of potato skins and lemon drop martini. The bartender was all decked out and dressed up as cat. She was definitely a friendly cat shall I say? Pretty bad tonight. My Ceasar was 85% croutons so I sent it back. The replacement was drowning in dressing. The sliced turkey breast was all scrap small pieces of turkey. They didn't give very much. Maybe they were running out. Overall, very bad. The service was good as usual. read more

I have been coming to Black-eyed pea for years with my husband and also once a month with a group of neighbors. My mom is 96 and in a wheelchair so it is nice to slide her chair in the large booth that has plenty of room to still serve food and walk around. The Temporary manager(also our server) refused to allow my mom to sit there stating they don't like to do that because would if food got dropped on her, it was a safety issue. But yet high chairs are pulled up at the end of small booths and that works. I mentioned to her that we have been doing this for 2 yrs and never a problem. She got mad and said I will get someone else to wait this table as I don't have to put up with this. We lifted my mother out of her wheel chair to be able to sit in the booth as we do enjoy the restaurant. I do like the food at Black -eyed pea and usually the service and I will reach out to the normal manager when he returns to hopefully get this resolved. Very Very disapointing. read more

Food was good, customer service could have been much better. Our waiter seemed to disappear and it was frustrating to ask for something when he wasn't visibly around. It was incredibly frustrating when he couldn't even bring us our check but instead had another waiter bring it and give us the message that our original waiter was busy! Again the original waiter disappeared and was nowhere to be found. Not happy with the service! As expensive as food and drink are, $20+ per person, I expect better Also, I had a coupon for a free appetizer, $8.99 or less. All the appetizers, with the exception of 2 that were half an order, were $9.29. Prices must have gone up since this coupon came out with an April 1st expiration date. We have no idea how good the food is... because we never got served. Our waitress got our drink order and brought us the dinner rolls, said she forgot the butter. We discovered that she actually forgot that we existed. It's been awhile since I've been to a Black-eyed Pea and never had to this one. The food was good, the service was satisfactory and the atmosphere was homey. Their price for a bottle of wine was phenomenal. I don't think I have ever paid as little for a great bottle of wine. We ordered the lemon seasoned Salmon and lemon seasoned shrimp. The size was awesome and both were delicious. The Ceasar salad was also generous in size and delicious. For desert we ordered the Brownie Sundae and the Carrot Cake. We shared the Brownie Sundae and took the LARGE SLICE of Carrot Cake home for later consumption. When looking for a place to eat don't overlook the Black-eyed Pea. read more

Husband and I went there for dinner Sunday evening. They profusely apologized for being short staffed. Our wait time was short and our service was some of the best we've seen in a long time!! I debated between leaving 3 stars versus 4. Ordinarily we have a good experience here. Staffing issues aside, service is normally good and the food is tasty. I personally have a couple of favorites that I oscillate between, but my fiancé likes to try different things. We normally really enjoy our meals. Today the experience was less than stellar. Our server was really nice, but slow, which I don't believe was her fault, nor is it the restaurant's fault. Many tables were closed due to short staffing. However, it took 20 minutes for me to get my drink and my fiancé had to eventually ask for his drink. Today I decided on the mashed potato bowl. What I got seemed to be some sort of cross between the shepherd's pie and the mashed potato bowl. The gravy, which I normally like, was not the same. I can't put my finger on it, but I didn't like the flavor. It had peas, which the dish doesn't have and I don't like. Lastly, there was very little chicken in it. I had to dig to get any chicken. Normally, this is not the case. I took one bite and immediately was disappointed at my decision (I had visions of the knight telling me I had chosen poorly). My fiancé really liked it and he told me he would eat it. We ended up eating both meals family style. I really want to support this location. I have been going to the Lakewood location since it opened back in the late 80s. There was a lull in all these years, but my family and I have come to really enjoy it again. I want nothing more than to support these people. I will be back, as maybe it was an off day, but I hope to see that this meal experience is not a trend. read more

I'm such a fan of The Blackeyed Pea. I've been going to different Colorado locations since I was a young girl. While the memories of meals with my family are great, so are the warm homemade rolls and cornbread. This Black Eyed Pea is fairly new, and never disappoints. This visit, we had the most bubbly, outgoing, and energetic server named Thomas. He would joke around with us, and it made the visit so much better! Our drinks always came super fast, and he was always on top of everything, even though it was pretty busy and they were all his tables. He constantly said he loved everything on the menu (except for the meatloaf haha) and made this visit super exciting! Additionally, the hostesses are always very welcoming, and make it exciting to be eating here! The bread that came at the beginning was very warm and soft. So delicious! Cornbread is one of the things Black Eyed Pea is famous for, and I can see why! I got the Green Chili mac and cheese. It might sound weird, but I believe it is the most delicious thing on the menu! Also, the portion size is very generous! A lot bigger than you would expect! Not to mention it comes with a side. You get to choose from their 28 options of sides! We always love the selection here. The last 3 trips we have had the same server, and honestly she has no business waiting on tables. She is slow, disorganized, and not friendly. My husband loves the comfort food the BEP menu offers but the past 2 times we have ordered food to go the gravy has not been included...even though in the Special Instructions section, it was noted that he wanted "brown gravy on the side". I thought I'd try out black eye peas restaurant since it's been years since I last went. My son and I went Easter Sunday ordered their special turkey and ham. I want to say it was extremely disappointing. The food taste like and look like it was someones leftovers. We weren't served with a complete basket of bread I suppose they don't serve cornbread anymore. One of my sides was the fried corn on the cob it wasn't hot the corn was as if it came right out of the fridge. My ham was dry the few pieces that were on my plate. I honestly believe my meal was someone's leftovers that they cleaned off a table when whomever left it was worse the hospital food. Needless to say I will not be going back to that one in Parker. Perhaps in a different neighborhood the food would be as I remember. Not here which is unfortunate. read more
