He was helping another customer when we arrived and sent us to the huge selection of hanging rugs to get a sense. He came back as soon as he was free, listened to what we wanted and looked at photos of our room. We easily spent 90 minutes going through the enormous selection of rugs in our size with him. We narrowed it down to 4, which he and his team brought over an hour later to see in our room. That was CRITICAL -- we ended up not with the one we'd been leaning toward. I went here with my decorator to choose an area rug for my living room. For starters, the selection of rugs is unbelievably good both in terms of style and price range. I think they have something here for just about everyone. I must have looked at well over 100 rugs in my price range before deciding on what I wanted. I went in last week to purchase a large rug for my home. We are ripping out floors in the house and putting in wood. I figured i would start with one room. I was prepared to spend quite a bit. This person , seemingly in charge, began to lecture me in very combative way telling me "wait listen" went i tried to interject anything. He turned me over to a sales person and told me there were a few piles of rugs that I should look at. The first pile was the most ordinary persian rugs I have ever seen, i fell as if i was being shown rejects. None of them were of interest. And having spent a good deal of time looking previously I found the prices were quite inflated. The sales person had no interest in going through the other two piles... He said i should pick one rug that I had already seen and they would bring a few over to my house the he thought i "might like". Right. I walked out and went to a far nicer store in Wellesley where i actually purchased a rug that week. Fascinated to read so many reviews like mine... i too was dressed down... shorts and a T. Not only does this place have far nicer rugs than I saw elsewhere, but their prices were reasonable (and they even were open to negotiations when I ended up buying several items from them). Then, they provided great service during both the delivery and when I had a follow-up matter: a small area of one of the rugs needed a little fixing... so I e-mailed them late on a Saturday night (well after hours), expecting an answer over the next day or so... but no, the person actually wrote back MINUTES LATER saying he would take care of it. Unfortunately, there is way to apply negative stars. I wish I read the other reviews before going here. New house, hardwood floors we picked out three rugs that we were excited about. Only to find out after the purchase two were not available in our size and would require purchasing two more rugs to have them make one ring for each room and then the third rug was on back order and we would have to wait six weeks. When we went in to get our deposit back for the two rugs that we did not reach agreement on we were told that couldn't happen without the owners approval, if we could at all. Then we asked for the store manager who low and behold was there and told her to process the refund. The sales person wouldn't listen and was combative about our request. The selection of rugs here is fairly extensive, and I think you could find most styles and sizes in stock. They have some very pretty carpets and you can take them home with a 1 to 3 day hold. I was misled, however, by their signage for floor samples and close outs. It seemed, from the signs, that the entire lower floor of the showroom had these particular items. The staff did nothing to correct my misinformation. It turns out, despite the signage, that only about 5 or 10% of the rugs downstairs are actually on sale. You can get better prices by negotiating with them "upstairs". read more

The carpet installation was the final phase of a months long basement refinishing project and I have to admit I was dreading it: the cost, the scheduling and the worry about indifferent installers would might ruin the newly finished paint job. We went to Dover Rug & Home where Temel Yilmaz immediately stepped up to offer his thoughts and advice on our carpet choices. Because it was for a basement, we wanted the discounted price of a remnant, but we also wanted high quality. Temel quickly helped us find a remnant that we loved but soon discovered that Dover Rug in Natick did not have enough yardage for our project. To his everlasting credit, Temel worked tirelessly to locate more yardage, calling around the country to find it and then assuring us that the dye lots would match. I have to admit that I was skeptical. Temel continued to reassure us. Dover Rug's installers were professionals in every sense of the word. Our carpet was immaculately installed in half the time that we expected. Your can not see any seams and the remnant pieces match flawlessly just as Temel promised. Our freshly painted walls were left in perfect condition. The installers even vacuumed it before they left! After years of dreaming, our newly carpeted basement now looks gorgeous! I recently had the experience of having all of my rugs cleaned by Dover Rug. They were picked up and delivered by a very professional team of men. They arrived on time, rolled up and tagged all of my rugs and off they went. About three weeks later, my rugs were returned to me looking better than new. All stains, odors were gone and so were the snags where my dog had attempted to dig a hole. Overall, a very good experience. I was recently introduced to YELP by a friend of mine. I think it's a great way to provide feedback, whether good or bad. Today I want to provide good feedback. I want to give a shout out to Dover Rug. I had a wonderful experience working with them. For years I've heard their ads and always wanted to go in and check out the store. So I finally did! When I entered the store I was greeted by a lovely sales associate, I later learned her name is Audrey. She offered assistance and when I told her I was "just" looking she left me to wander throughout the store. She reminded me if I needed help with anything to let her know. I was not disappointed by my decision to stop in and browse. The rugs are truly beautiful and they tell such wonderful stories. After looking at the rugs, I wandered over to the custom design area. I hadn't originally intended to look in this area but I recently completed a renovation of my bedroom and was interested in their services. I asked Audrey about the services and I ended up working with her. She was never pushy. She helped create a perfect bedroom with wonderful fabrics and finite detail that just make the room. Do not get your rugs cleaned here. Should have trusted my instincts. First message left was not returned. Called back a month later and set up a time to have 3 rugs picked up for cleaning. The truck to pick up my rugs was late, had to call, but luckily they finally showed up since I had completely upended my living room to get my 9x11 wool rug out. Was told that it would be a few weeks and they would call when ready. Never received a call so after 4 weeks I called. They were ready? I hadn't received a phone call. Set up a time to have them brought back to my house. They did not show up on the date they said they would. Called and had to demand they come the following week since we were now at the week before Christmas. (Rugs were picked up at the end of October, I did not have them for Thanksgiving as expected and barely got them back by Christmas). My $2500 rug looks fine. Luckily that was not damaged but doesn't look or smell any different than when it left my house. My runner is fine. A small (companyc = not cheap) area rug is ruined. Background is off-white and red color from the design is smudged all through the white. I didn't even call to complain because at this point I don't feel like speaking with these people ever again. Don't believe like I did the man on the radio with the calming voice telling you how much his company cares about you and your rugs. It's a sham ... I could have gone to a local carpet cleaner for probably the same price, same results and a lot less hassle. read more

I bought a rug here and it was a bad experience from start to finish. The only redeeming thing I can say is that the short-haired saleswoman knows her stuff and she did find me a rug that matched exactly what I was looking for. One star for her. Other than that, the "professional" who was sent to my home to measure did a horrible and inaccurate job. The binding was done in a clashing, bright color (I was never consulted about the binding color) and was already coming unglued when the rug was delivered. The rug was cut crookedly and I had to demand a repair for the corners to be square. The installers seemed completely uninterested in proper installation/placement (i.e. whether the rug was centered in the space)--they seemed annoyed when I twice asked them to straighten and center the rug. Icing on the cake? When a repair man was sent to fix the loose binding and recut the shoddy corners he spent the entire time hitting on my nanny, she later told me, which made her very uncomfortable. Talk about unprofessional. I don't think I'd want a FREE rug from this place after my experience. I do however HIGHLY recommend Faber's in Wellesley. Now THAT'S service. read more

Warning. Dover rug refused to honor their 150% price matching guarantee. I purchased a rug on overstock.com and found the same rug at Dover rug for much more. I wanted to purchase a second identical rug to the one I bought from overstock and filled out the online price matching form online. I received a call verifying the make and model of the rug, but then did not hear back. When I called the store they told me that the rug I got online could not be new or that it had to be refurbished and that it was not possible that the rug (a Surya Aros-6 carpet) could be the same. i called overstock, they said the rug was new and they sent me a letter stating that it was new and that it was under manufacturers warranty. I left a voice mail stating that I got the carpet that it was new and I also have a letter from the online store stating it was new. The rug I got from overstock was awesome, brand new, with all the manufacturers labels attached. I went to Dover rug, and was told i would have to talk to someone who manages the online part of their store. Basically, it became evident that they were not going to honor their online policy as it would have cut into their profit. Plus it became clear that they don't know their market all that well since other retailers get wares at considerably lower prices. They shouldn't offer a guarantee unless they are going to stick by their word. If you buy an expensive rug from them thinking if you find it somewhere else for cheaper you are covered, best think again. They can use any excuse they can come up with to not honor their price matching guarantee. 150% price matching seemed too good to be true and it was. Update: The rug I got from overstock.com was so awesome I got a second one. The rug was on sale for $263 at overstock, but was $720 on Dover rug website. Recently, I was looking for a rug to complete a bit of remodeling I had done at my home. Feeling that the rug would be a main feature of the room, I knew I wanted something special. .. but didn't want to break the bank either. I was thrilled to find that I could get both the product and the price I wanted at Dover Rug. In fact, the price was so good on the rug I selected, that I was able to get an additional rug for another room in my house and still stay within budget. The service was also great. I didn't feel rushed at all while I browsed their extensive selection. When I was unable to decide which rug to go with, they let me take them home so that I could make the right decision. This was a huge help! I also had a special request regarding the rugs, which involved cutting and rebinding one of them. The finish work was very well done. My girlfriend and I were looking for rugs when we moved to the area last summer. We weren't looking for anything expensive but found two rugs we both loved at Dover. We were being helped by the owners son who was a nice kid, not pushy at all, and just showed us various rugs in our price range. A few weeks ago I got the bright idea to bring my rug outside to beat the dust out of it. I stupidly hung the rug over a fence w/out putting down towels or a blanket for protection and ending up tearing a 3 or 4 inch hole in the topside of the rug. I brought the rug in just to see what my options were, but seeing as though it was only a $400 rug, the salesman told me it would probably be too expensive to properly repair it by re-stitching it and there was probably nothing we could do. The owner overheard our conversation and came over and told me to bring it in and that they would at least be able to patch it a bit and make it so it wouldn't get any worse. I asked how much and he said probably between 50-100 dollars. We dropped it off and I believe we spoke with Temel and Sachin. Whoever the guy was doing the repairs told me they were going to put a patch underneath, try to use the existing fibers that were still attached to the tear, and glue it together. After hearing that I wasn't expecting much of an improvement, but anything would do. He then said they weren't going to charge for the fix. When we unrolled the rug at home after picking it up, you honestly couldn't even tell there had ever been a hole in it unless you knew where to look for it and felt the rug. Seeing as though there are rugs in there that go for between $20,000-30,000, I wasn't expecting this level of service due to the fact that we only spent about $750, but I was delightfully surprised at how we were treated and that they repaired our rug for free. Due to my great experience with the owner, his son, and his team, I will be returning to Dover for all my future rug purchases! read more

The sales people have been available but not intrusive. I prefer to not be assaulted by a salesperson when I walk into a store. My most recent purchase there was a few months ago. I couldn't be happier with the rug and the service was just what I wanted. They also have no problem letting you try out one or several rugs before you buy. I stopped in recently to check out area rugs. This was against my better judgment, because a few years ago my mother walked out after a brief interaction with a rude and aggressive salesperson. About five minutes after looking at rugs on my own, I found one I really liked, and I had to go find the sales person to get some help even though there was only one other customer in the store that he wasn't helping the whole time I was there (far from my mom's experience, as this guy didn't seem to care if he got a sale or not). I inquired about the size and cost, which he provided right off the top of his head, then stated it could take anywhere from two weeks to six months to come in. I asked if he had a way of checking the approximate delivery time for me, and he RUDELY stated that he would look it up if I want to buy the rug. I stated that I need to know the delivery timeframe before I would be able to decide if I wanted it, and he stated "come back when you are ready to buy it, and I'll look that up for you." My wallet and I quickly walked out. Too bad for him, because I actually WAS ready to buy it, and was just trying to get an idea how long I had left to get the room painted before it arrived. Buying rugs for our home was so intimidating that I opted out and never bought a rug other than a runner once which left me fearful of every buying a rug ever again -- never had a rug in our home for over 15 years . . . . this was until I visited Dover Rug. Last November with family coming for the holidays and our new home looking a bit bare, I decided now was the time to finally go buy some rugs. I walked into a few well known places and immediately felt "the eyes watching me" as I walked around not having a clue what I was really looking for. Then I drove to Dover on Route 9 and it was a completely different feeling -- just the store itself gave me some breathing room without everyone skulking past me. Mr. Jafri assisted me in the process and started out asking me a few questions about our lifestyle, color ranges that I tended to favor, and room dimensions. He then quickly had me look at a number of rugs that were all in my color schemes but different designs. He packed up about 12 rugs for my living room and 10 for our dining room, followed me home and then proceeded to teach me about why certain rugs would work and why others would not. Within an hour after visiting the store, the two rugs were in our home and absolutely beautiful. But I still needed one more rug, a runner for the hallway -- Mr. Jafri said "no problem, we know exactly what you like, so we will send someone back tomorrow with a couple you can pick from". They were there the next evening - rolled out three to choose from and the solution became obvious. The rugs make the whole room come together not only in colors but also in adding so much warmth to the room. We also have more sitting room as everyone loves to either sit on the floor or lay down and stretch out with some pillows. Mr. Jafri's knowledge of not only rugs but life overall was second to none. I wouldn't ever shop anywhere else as I don't have the time nor patience to have to figure it out myself and not know what I am really buying. Simply put, if you want expert advice, patient, attentive professionalism, Dover Rug is the only place to buy your rugs, and other treasures!!! Like most people, my wife and I are not design experts but we definitely know what we like and what we don't. We met with Mr. Jafri (he couldn't be nicer) and we sat down and discussed our tastes, wants and needs and answered his astute and relevant questions. Once he understood what we were interested in, our tastes etc, off we went to see his/Dover Rugs vast inventory...and I mean vast. We were lucky to be one of his first customers at the new (awesome) large facility at 721 Worcester Street-Route 9 Natick, MA. They are obviously doing things right for the masses.....go look at this place! It was invaluable having a design expert at our side to make sure that not one design mistake would be made. The last thing we wanted was to buy a bunch of items that did not really fit into our home very well, but looked nice at the store etc. You know what I mean. Probably the worst customer service I have ever experienced from a company. I also wish I could give negative stars. Things were going well when we testing rugs in our home. We choose one, and unfortunately not even 24 hours later realized it was the wrong fit. We were never told about the no refund policy. The sales person could have easily told us there is a standard 3 day trial policy were we could get a "feel" for the rug in our home. We were very uncertain about the original decision and the sales person,Hassan, could have easily told us to try it for 3 days and let us know. Not once did he ever say ALL SALES ARE FINAL and there is a trail period we could take advantage of. (we also have a new house and have been testing/buying/returning rugs from many other major companies and Hassan knew this). We physically returned the rug to the store the next day and they held us and our money hostage. We were forced to pick out a new rug from them and then wouldn't even help us out a little on price to meet the price on the old rug. I guess they are very desperate for sales and this is the only way they can make them. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE! read more
