A measurer was quickly dispatched and even though I was told it would take several weeks for them to receive the carpet, they exceeded my expectations in terms of time. The crew they dispatched to remove the damaged carpet and install the new one worked quickly, efficiently and had my new carpet installed in an hour. They cleaned as they went and left the bedroom squeeky clean. The cost for the Mohawk brand carpet 174 sq ft including installation was $1600 - exceptionally reasonable for this beautiful, tough carpet designed for family living. I had a wonderful experience buying carpet at AJ Rose in Natick. working with Romy. I had to replace carpet on a challenging "bridal staircase" and hallway. I shopped around and found they had a very good price. I was not happy with the installation and Bill came out. He immediately agreed that AJ Rose would replace the carpet and reinstall at no extra charge. He did not hassle me. He acknowledged the problem immediately. He sent a team that did truly expert work. This is an update based on Sam's comment. It was not a change to the original scope of work since the scope of work said nothing about new transitions. I imagine transitions are a very common thing for a flooring company to run into, and the fact that there was no mention of additional cost until after the transitions were removed and taken from our home by the installer, was incredibly frustrating. Also, I don't want to lose sight of the fact that this wasn't the only issue we ran into. The project was supposed to be completed the first week in October but it was well into November before they even tried to complete the job while also having us pay them more. Just reiterating that I would still not recommend using them for any flooring needs. read more

If you were looking to get information on the different types of flooring that are available in the world AJ Rose is the place to go. I have never seen more brands and examples of flooring in my life. Frankly it was almost overwhelming but it gave me a very good sense for what is out there with regards to quality, type of flooring (carpets, wood, vinyl, engineered, 3D printed, etc) and colors. The sales people are friendly and informative and are not at all pushy although the work on commission. They just wanted to provide information and then leave you alone until you had more questions. Salesman ordered wrong rug. We get that mistakes happen. But - we were not notified until the morning of, the salesman initially refused to credit us telling us we had to re-select and re-wait. Exasperating experience, terrible sales and install. Many many hours from work and family trying to get AJ Rose to do the right thing and allow for proper repair of our subfloor they ignored and covered over. More concerned about me agreeing Not to post anything negative online. In the end they refused to fix floor despite me providing many opportunities, changing my schedule and missing work. The pictures show some of the issues. The installers arrived 2 hours late (according to them) as I had to call for the time of "first appt" the morning of install. 1 arrived, needing to wait for the other(s) I was told the install would take 3-4 hours. After 7 hours of watching the installers take turns sleeping in one of their trucks, I checked a few things...asked the 1 tech who working (gluing all sorts of things, yet gluing) to fix the mess of upholstered beam. He added about 150 staples, marking up the freshly painted walls and just made the problem worse. They pulled the heater off the wall, not one edge was clean or tight. Our home is older, our contractor explained how the sale and install should have gone...if performed by professional, registered, bond/insured installers. I have been living in a chaotic mess for 7 weeks thanks to this company. They kept putting up unreasonable road blocks to coming out to get the situation rectified. We made an agreement for them to come out and pull up the rug, allow our contractor to inspect and rescrew, repair the subfloor, and they would then come back and reinstall the carpet the way it should have been done since day 1. They then refused to come back out, leaving me in a mess scrambling for help during the holidays. There are a lot of professionals out there...just not at this outfit. read more

My wife and I recently had new linoleum flooring put in our kitchen. My wife picked an Armstrong pattern that she liked at AJ Rose Carpet and Flooring in Natick. It was a straightforward job with no seams needed, since the width of the kitchen was less than the width of the stock roll. The installer came out to measure, and he had some suggestions about preparing the plywood over the old floor, so we added more staples. The salesperson, Barry G., said we were to pay AJ Rose Carpet and Flooring for the flooring, and then pay the installer directly. We assumed the installer worked for AJ Rose Carpet and Flooring, but "Mitch" is an independent contractor. This didn't seem like the right way to do business, so we shopped around at other Armstrong dealers. Our concern was that if there was a problem with the installation there would be no paperwork guarantee from AJ Rose Carpet and Flooring, since we would be paying the installer direct. But it turns out that AJ Rose Carpet and Flooring had the best price by a couple of hundred dollars. So, we both went into the store and expressed our concerns to Barry G. He said we've been in business for decades, and businesses are transparent now because of the internet (Yelp). He couldn't provide us with a written guarantee on the installation, but he said if we wanted to he would put the installation on the invoice, we would pay AJ Rose Carpet and Flooring, and they would pay the installer Mitch. Another reason we wanted everything on one invoice was to use a credit card to accumulate points. Barry's assurances satisfied us, so we agreed on a price for the flooring and the installation. The installer, Mitch, showed up on time, and the new floor looks great, but then he wanted a check for his services. We explained that we had arranged with Barry G. to pay for the flooring and the installation on one invoice from AJ Rose Carpet and Flooring. Mitch said he expected to be paid by check on the spot, so we called Barry G. Barry G. lied to us to get our business. He now said well he could put the installation on the AJ Rose Carpet and Flooring invoice, but he would then have to charge us more for the installation. So, we wrote Mitch a check, and will not do business with AJ Rose Carpet and Flooring again because of their deceptive business practices. read more

I ordered luxury vinyl for my basement and never dealing with this product I didn't know the difference. Later I found out that Cortec has cork backing and non cork. After ordering cortec one without backing I was told it was the cheapest one to install .. Even though I paid almost $5 per sq ft. Day of installation I noticed some planks where bouncy and noisy when walked on. I called to explain to Andrew and he pretended he had no idea what I was talking about. I would expect him to at least act like he cared. I also noticed baseboard not being removed prior to floor installation. When I asked about this I was told the whole floor would have to come apart. The only positive is the installer Jared was nice enough to go to Home Depot and try to find a better molding to match. I would not recommend this store because I felt very rushed through the process and for such a large cost they seem it's not worth it to them to listen to my concerns about the job. read more

Terrible Service Visited the Natick store yesterday with a very specific task. I am doing a major rehabilitation of a well known historic mansion that was worked over very badly in the 1950's. I walked in with historic photos and actual examples of what i was looking for in carpets and linoleum. I also needed pricing for comparison in the clients decision making process. When i entered the store i noticed i was the only customer in there and the woman seated at the desk asked if she could help. I explained the situation to her and showed her what i was looking for. I got the feeling that i was bothering her. Linoleum: I showed her an example of a specific linoleum that i had already had a quote from them over the phone. I was looking for pricing of other similar products to take to the client explaining that i already looked at another specific brand and needed a quote. She blurts out "about 6 bucks a foot". Then hands me a box of the other product and said "look through here". The box was a product that wasn't even close and "6 bucks a foot" was not what i needed to bring back to the client. Carpet: I had photos of specific carpet i told the woman that i wanted as options for the client if we could not get the original reproduced in time. She pointed me towards the wool carpet area and told me that she would be at her desk as she had alot of work to do. Professionalism, customer service and product knowledge was at an all time low on this day...will head somewhere else. read more

Miguel was the team leader and he was great. actually the whole team was very friendly and respectful of my space. i asked them to save me a scrap for my home and they cut it to my size. i had some last minute furniture rearranging that i did not expect and they happily did it for me. the project was done ahead of schedule. read more

We've worked with AJ to install hardwood floors in several spaces of our home during the past year. Our first project was an upstairs bedroom, and we're currently wrapping up a much larger job that will install hardwood in our kitchen, dining room and foyer spaces on the first floor. We've visited the Natick location several times and everyone we have worked with has been helpful and professional. It's a big store with lots of options on display, and low-pressure salespeople who can help answer questions. They tend to have good seasonal promotions and financing options (we've used both), although prices overall are probably a bit higher than what you would find as the average. We used the same contractor through AJ rose to do the installation work on both projects. He's done a fantastic job and the craftsmanship really shows. We did have a slight hiccup when a room was added to our estimate when it wasn't supposed to be included in the scope (we didn't find out until the job was in progress), but the installer worked with us to make it right and we consider it resolved. read more

Our office recently had our carpets cleaned by AJ Rose Carpets & Flooring and we were very impressed. We have about 3000 square feet in a corporate building just outside of Boston. There are cubicles and desks covering most of the area and even a ping pong table with a few couches. On the day of the cleaning, we were able to move most of it into a separate hallway, but there were still a few things that needed to be rearranged. The cleaners got here exactly on time and even helped us move what was left. They got right to work and removed the dirt and dust from the carpets with their cleaning machines. Very fast and efficient. At the end of the cleaning, they helped us move things back even though they weren't obligated to. Great guys, great service. I would recommend them to any office looking to give their carpets a nice refresh. read more

This review and rating is based on the incredible customer service I have received in response to my dissatisfaction with the quality of the installation of a floating floor in a portion of my basement. After I posted my original review (now redacted), I was contacted by both the owner AJ and the general manager of the Natick location, Andrew. I was impressed with the response I have received and AJ Rose's commitment to make things right. Based on this I had AJ Rose install an additional floating floor in a previously unfinished portion of my basement. I am happy to report that the newest installation was perfect and none of the issues that resulted from the improper leveling of the cement floor during the first installation recurred. The installer, John, was professional and courteous with meticulous attention to detail. The floors were leveled on a Thursday with the plan to install the floors on the following day. When the John returned to complete the job he was not satisfied with the original leveling and re-leveled portions of the basement floor. He then made a special trip back to our house on a Saturday to complete the installation. The new floor looks great and is solid underfoot. In this day of razor thin margins and profit driven business practices it is really refreshing to work with someone who puts customer satisfaction and delivering a high quality product first. This clearly comes from the top and filters down. I would recommend AJ Rose without hesitation to anyone needing new flooring. read more

We had carpets installed in 3 rooms nearly 4 weeks ago. Carpet in one of the rooms is flawed and was installed anyway. At the time the installer said this occasionally happens and that it was being handled. We expected to wait about 2 weeks for the reorder and subsequent installation. After several phone calls, I learned today the AJ Rose is just filing a claim with the manufacturer! This isn't and shouldn't be my concern, yet we are left with a terrible looking carpet and nobody taking responsibility for it. Very disappointed! read more

ZERO STARS... DO NOT USE AJ ROSE!!! The worst customer service and sloppy/careless installation! The sales staff were rude, arrogant and had terrible communication skills, which caused confusion throughout the process! The installation guys were also rude, walking all over our white carpet outside with their dirty boots. When nicely asked to take their shoes off, they rolled their eyes and gave attitude back. Clearly no tone at the top! While the customer service was horrible, the quality of installation was even worse! Our freshly painted baseboards were all scratched up, seams were not properly installed creating bubbles in the carpet and the hardware from the closet doors was thrown away and not put back up. Just an awful experience from start to finish. I can't even believe this company is still in business! The poor maintenance of their sales room should have been a warning! The building was leaking from the walls and roof, with buckets all over the place. The poor condition of the building matches the poor customer service and product we received. read more

My family and I have purchased many carpets from AJ Rose, mainly because they have a good selection and their Natick location is convenient for me. I also have been able to find a wide price range to fit my various needs over the years. I have never cared for the installers who were sent as they seemed to rush through and we had a few issues with two of the carpets that were installed. The issues were not major (seams separating/fraying, carpet not "stretched" well, etc) but we continued to shop there as the pros still seemed to outweigh the cons. A few months ago, I purchased an area rug for my son's room. When I picked it up and got it home, I realized they cut the wrong carpet for me. I figured it was just a miscommunication, and brought it back for exchange. The store manager offered to have the rug I originally wanted cut for the same price even though it was slightly higher priced than the one I actually paid for. When I brought the re-made rug home, I realized they gave me the original incorrect rug back again, so I drove back to the store for the third time to pick up the rug (45 minutes from where I live). The manager was very apologetic and offered me a discount if I was ever in need of any other items from the store. I decided to give them another chance and purchased another rug for a family member's house. As promised, I received an approx 10% discount. That is the only positive thing that happened during this experience. WHAT A NIGHTMARE! The store manager himself, Andrew, helped me with the sale, and could not have provided worse customer service. Simple things like getting a timely quote, accurate copy of the sales receipt and nailing down an installation time window (I received five different times in total, and none of them were when the crew actually showed up) seemed to be incredibly difficult for the staff here to handle. The installers also hacked up the walls way, way more than what you might reasonably expect during a carpet installation. They even cracked a brick on the fireplace. I had to repaint all of the baseboards after they left. I would not recommend AJ Rose. Their customer service has really declined and their staff remind me of stereotypical used car salespeople...completely full of crap. AJ Rose has lost a large family of customers who have given them a lot of business over the years. read more

I recently purchased hard wood flooring from AJ Rose in Natick. The sales person was knowledgeable to a point. He did know his floors and was able to provide us with estimates based upon the square footage we provided for the room we planned on finishing. He didn't know anything about the financing even though the reason we came to AJ Rose was because of a flyer we received in the mail about their financing! That was disappointing; however, we just decided to pay cash to avoid the delay in trying to have him figure out the details. We bought laminate flooring and everything seemed to go smooth at first. Helpful and friendly sales staff. The independent contractor measured the space in a timely manner and sent the instructions to AJ Rose This is where communication broke down and our timeline was not met. We were told installing within 2weeks would not be a problem. In any case don't expect competent follow up after the sale. On a positive note the installer and installation were wonderful. We had a small job, just a runner up a flight of stairs. In the store, the staff were very helpful. They gave us the information we needed to look but kept a respectful distance while we browsed. Once we found some candidates, we were given samples and pricing. We took the samples home, decided, and were able to phone back to complete the order. Someone came to measure, and the job was scheduled for several days later. The installation was done well, and the installer was very communicative. He asked questions along the way to make sure the job was done the way we wanted. Overall an excellent experience with not a single complaint. read more

Once ordered, the carpet was in within a matter of a few days, and installation was scheduled within a few more days. My rugs were so dirty that I was planning to replace them in the spring, and I decided to have them cleaned hoping a few stains would come out and some of the dirt, just to buy me some time. The showroom had an exhaustive inventory and the selection process simple. The price was very competitive. Jeff's work ethic was awesome. The finished product was beyond expectation, and the job was finished ahead of schedule. The house was left in immaculate condition.
