I have been into this store many times to browse and shop over the last 5 years. I purchased a bed side table on one occasion and 8 dining chairs on another occasion. The dining chairs arrived with the wrong color leather seat... apparently the leather option I selected from their samples was no longer available so instead of letting me know they just went ahead with a different color. After a few months of waiting for my order, I decided not to mess with it and keep what they sent. There was no other good option. More recently I was nearing an order on a bedroom furniture set. I had spoken with them a number of times over a couple of years but did not pull the trigger because I was not 100% sure - particularly since the purchase was going to be $12-14k. When I finally settled in on the items for purchase, they wrote me up a quote for me to bring home to review with my husband. They had written up one or two similar quotes previously, but pricing was constantly changing and I had not yet decided on a specific wood/stain. After I received the quote and a wood sample, I left the store only to return a minute later to ask a question. Hugh and his co-worker were not aware that I was in the store, at which point I heard them bashing me - about how I go in there all the time, don't make up my mind, etc. It went on for a few minutes and I left before they finished talking about me. WTH - I guess that I used up so much of their "valuable time" I deserved it (note - store was always empty). The next day I returned the wood sample, letting Hugh know why I would not be shopping there any longer. He was speechless. read more

One of the strangest experiences I have had in quiet some time. The salesman "Hugh" wasn't happy that we came in at 4:30 when they close at 5, then he unloaded this weird story that he had been there 9 years and was still only considered a salesman?! It only got more bizarre, telling us that the furniture was not cheap, this guy was trying to get rid of us at every turn. This was the point where I looked at my wife and gave her that look, no way was I going to do business with this guy. They don't make anything, just a middle man, they just order it from woodworkers in Pennsylvania, so if you want Amish furniture buy it online and avoid this place. You have to ask yourself why would the owner of this place employ someone like this? There are other reviews online describing similar situations or worse. You were warned. read more

Weston in Bend Oregon is fantastic, so helpful and communicative when I was searching for the perfect temporary pieces, and planning on the big "builds" for the future house. My wife went into Dovetails today to buy a bed and a dresser. The older man who helped her treated her awful. He literally yelled at her for asking if they were open. He was condescending and rude to her throughout the entire conversation as she was just asking about the furniture. She left the store in tears. If you want to buy overpriced mdf furniture go here. My recommendation is to go ANYWHERE else. read more

I had been in the store last year (I'm from out of town ) and wanted to go by there again because I remember they had some nice things. The sales person there also had seemed quite friendly so I had conversed with him quite a bit. Well I think it was all just a sales pitch - this time I mentioned since I saw him last that I had found one bedroom set on sale from someone else-but that I was still looking for furniture for the rest of the house and so was coming in to take a second look. He then had the audacity to say quote, 'That pisses me off because I spent a lot of time with you last time.' What? Mr, don't bother next time I would rather shop in peace anyway! Not sure I want to purchase anything at all from them now due to the above comment-even though I did see some things I liked. read more

Professional and courteous folks. I bought four chairs to match a Craigslist find. The owner let me take home a chair to try it at home, which was super nice. He also ran to the warehouse to pick up the chairs when I decided to buy them. Dovetails offers quality furniture at affordable prices. Probably one of the worst customer service businesses I've ever dealt with! Had a chronic problem with a chair I purchased there. Was taken back to store twice. Never resolved. No offer to replace. I'm stuck with it. Was very expensive chair. read more

We have bought several pieces of furniture from Dovetails. Hugh is a pleasure to work with and he is very knowledgeable when it comes to the furniture that they sale. He is not high pressure like some furniture sales people are. The quality of their furniture is the best, built by craftsmen that care about the finished product. It is made in America by American craftsmen. We will be buying a bedroom set from them in a short time to go into our new home. We recommend them very highly. read more

Purchased many items including dinner table and had matching occasional tables and bar stools custom made. We recently had two recliners built to match our other furniture. The quality far surpasses that of other high end furniture we own. They are beautiful and working with Hugh was a pleasure.
