Toby loves DDL'n

Here in town for a three month stay and thank goodness found Down Dog Lodge. The young staff is well-trained, courteous, and professional; which is a breath of fresh air for the younger generation these days. Toby was a little anxious the first few days, but he's getting accustomed to the environment and the handlers. I even saw him cuddling with one of the handlers. Toby managed to make it on Instagram! There was an issue that I addressed directly with owner Ryan, and he rectified it immediately, as well as a personal phone call to follow up. Keep up the great work staff. Toby will be back soon!

This place is wonderful! The staff is all extremely friendly, and you can tell they all have a love for animals. I really like how flexible they are with early drop offs. I work early hours so I'm able to drop my dog off at 6am with no additional charge. Her old daycare charged me $25 extra for early hour drop off. Most importantly, Rylee seems to love it. Every time we pull into the parking lot she whimpers with excitement. After I pick her up she is always exhausted, which is great! No complaints.

I love this place and so does my puppy Otis! Recommended by our trainer, Brian Lee for a wonderful safe way to add to a dog's socialization. He is right! After a careful temperment test by a trainer, Otis was slowly introduced to a gang of dogs with whom he'd be comfortable. After 2 hours on his first visit, he slept all the way home! He now usually stays for a few hours once or twice per week . He's always happy to go in, and I've observed that they take nothing for granted; they take it slow introducing him to the dog gang who is there on each particular day. (Dog parents can watch this thru one way glass) Ryan is the new owner of Yellow Brick. He and his employees are very sweet, knowledgeable and big time dog lovers! Anyone who knows me also knows that I wouldnt trust just anyone with any of my dogs- highly recommend this place

Unfortunately, this review can only be based on the temperament process because my 8 month old puppy, 7 months at the time, never made it past the first few minutes of testing. While watching on the camera feed, the "tester" took my admittedly super excited 27 pound puppy into a room and brought in what looked like a 5 pound chihuahua mix. Of course, my pup ran right up to this dog to play. And not surprisingly, the dog snapped at my pup, clearly not interested in playing, let alone with a much bigger dog, and certainly not with a puppy. They took the small dog away and brought in another small dog, maybe 10 pounds this time. Again, my puppy ran right up to this dog to play and the dog shuddered in fear, hiding between the tester and her assistant's legs. The tester and my puppy disappeared from the camera feed and to my surprise, appeared before me in the waiting area. The tester mumbled something to the effect of the two small dogs not liking my puppy running up to them and that they tried to call his name and he wouldn't come. I believe she also said that if my puppy were placed with bigger dogs, his enthusiasm would cause the bigger dogs to surround and attack him. In disbelief, I asked her exactly what she was saying because she was still mumbling, when she finally said "your puppy is not a good fit here." There was no "I'm sorry", "maybe when he gets older", "maybe we can try again later." There was no, "goodbye", "thanks for stopping in", "thanks for waiting beyond our your appointment time as we were running late." So, with our tails between our legs, we left. Neither the receptionist looked up to say goodbye. I'm not sure where or how these testers are trained but to determine our puppy was not a good fit in such a short amount of time is a little presumptuous. This is not his first temperament test. My puppy has been going to another daycare for months and is the most chill dog you can imagine, as we monitor him in the webcams and something to which the staff can attest. There, he has been in both the big dog and small dog room. The only reason we were looking for another daycare option was so my husband could drop off the pup on his way into work in West LA. Yes, my puppy is excited when he first arrives to a new place filled with dogs, as all dogs are--especially since he is a puppy, but he would have calmed down given the chance. Perhaps my pup was not a good fit. But better communication and professionalism from your staff would have been appreciated. In any event, if you see my super adorable, happy-go-lucky, loving, Down Dog Lodge daycare-rejected puppy on the street, beware...you may be inundated by him with licks and kisses all over.

So Busy!

I LOVE this place so much. Before I had a dog I would follow their Instagram stories every morning before I went to work. It uplifted me before the work day, and made me lol. When I got my puppy and finished his shots, I scheduled him for an interview and playtime. DDL website is easy and detailed. The staff is super friendly and knowledgeable. When I picked Jake up he didn't want leave...it's that fun! He stayed there when I went out of town and they posted him playing with all his friends. He runs and plays for miles there, and he has plenty of comfy beds to rest on when he gets tired. I highly recommend and trust them. Jake can't wait to go back! If you have a dog or puppy that needs safe and supervised play time go there. If you don't have a dog follow them on Insta and get your dog fix :))

Everyone is very helpful, training was informative, which lead to me never feeling uncomfortable branching on my own. I have had been lucky to work with great clients and their pups. With a shy and anxious dog who is nervous of strangers and sometimes reactive to other dogs on leash, finding a trusted dog walker is no easy task. I found MMH on Yelp and gave them a call. Melissa called me back within 24 hours, and Sarah came out that week to meet me and my dog and assured me that Allison would be able to take care of our pup. As we still had a few walks scheduled with our previous walker, they even coordinated a time for Allison to join our old walker on one of their last visits and help our dog adjust to the change. Allison is amazing, and we are so lucky to have found her! She took the time to get to know and build trust with our dog. Our dog loves her, she sends the best photos and updates after each visit, and she really goes above and beyond to keep us informed of any concerns. We've worked with lots of great dog walkers over the years, but she is the best when it comes to communication. We have regularly scheduled weekly walking, but MMH has also always been able to accommodate our one-off requests. This is one of the benefits of working with a larger company. If we need a one-off walk, and Allison isn't available, MMH has always been able to find someone, and Allison regularly introduces our dog to other walkers so that there are multiple people who can fill in when needed. We've also used MMH for overnight, in-home care, and again, MMH has always been able to accommodate our requests and we've had positive experiences with all the walkers/sitters so far.

It had been almost a year since we last boarded but Ethan helped us get acclimated to the new policies and was super accommodating, even working with me on pick-up when my return flight was delayed. A true life-saver. All the staff are always kind and helpful and they really love on the animals, which I appreciate. They also regularly update with photos and emails to keep you in the loop which is very reassuring. Loki loves it there and is always wiped out when she returns. (She's been napping all day. Very clearly a happy girl ).

A little long but it's been nothing less than eventful with this place. I had hight hopes for this…read moreplace as the hours are so convenient for our family's busy schedules. Unfortunately, this place was a HUGE disappointment and had a huge negative impact on our pup. Long story short -- Everything here is a sales grab. The few girls care for the animals but the "managers" and men there are just there for the commission of your packages. I had a whole conversation about their unethical sales pitching with the employee while picking up my dog lol. It's "how they keep the place open" - the employee's words, not mine. Astounding. Said employee also asked what I did for a living because I questioned their sales pitch tactics -- I'm in sales. Also, If you need their VIP services for your unspayed or neutered pup, please spend your money elsewhere!! Before committing to a membership, we did a trial day and spent hundreds on drop in days, grooming, and overnight boarding to see if it was a good fit for our high energy pup. Our dog is not neutered and we don't plan on getting him neutered so we chose their VIP rooms. His breed is also extremely high energy and they promised they could accommodate. I also inquired about training multiple times and they kept saying the trainer would contact me. Everything went great after those few visits, they seemed caring and said he was a great fit for a membership so we end up signing up. Then everything went downhill. Upon the first day of the membership, our dog all of a sudden had behavior issues and needed to be picked up. In the middle of my work day I call the shift manager, and he states that if we want our dog to stay, he needs training ... (from their same trainer that I've inquired 3x about before committing to a membership, still haven't heard back). I asked why this wasn't communicated ever before committing to a membership and they didn't have an answer. I informed them that I would've paid for training before committing to a membership if they would've let me know that there were any issues. Our dog went a couple of more times until they could finally get me in touch with the trainer, 6 visits later. Actually I had lost complete trust at this facility. To add insult to injury, I was able to speak to one of their actual workers that is with the dogs and she let me know that our dog is only let out for about 10 minutes at a time, maybe 3 to 4 times a day during a 12 hour stay. This is their VIP option. So not only is he left in a room for about 12 hours a day, with dogs barking all around him, he's not being stimulated nor played with just being let out to go to the bathroom. Contradicting everything they say that they offer. Their "trainer" is also a joke. He is supposed to be from the Marines and well-versed in the breed of dog that we have. Upon washing him for 5 minutes, as I was told, he said that our dog needed to be neutered before he could be trained because of his energy. Our dog is a Malinois and is not supposed to be neutered before 2 years of age. We've since went elsewhere to get our dog trained from someone who is actually educated on his breed and he's worked on all of his anxiety and reactivity issues that our pup got because of this place.

Contract Discrepancies/Sitters Lament on Working with Them…read more I thought I would enjoy this experience sitting with Meowtel. I had a client contact me for a booking of many days with a start date between 24 hours of the booking. According to Meowtels cancellation contract "Cancelation within 24 hours of the start date": No refund will be issued for cancelations within 24 hours of the start date. The sitter will keep 100% of their planned earnings. We appreciate your respect for your sitter's time" Well unfortunately for me, they did not honor this at all, as the client just decided to stop communicating with Meowtel after booking and putting their credit card on file. Apparently contracts mean nothing to this company. They also take 30% of my fees, and I do a free "meet and greet" which I dont get paid for. They offer no ACH banking and you are forced to get your money through Paypal. In the end, some of the clients I have worked with are very nice, but the organziation really screwed me in the end. In response to Meowtels comment, here are the refund contracts spelled out here. "Cancelation between 24-48 hours before the start date*: Customers will receive a 50% refund, and the sitter will receive 50% of their planned earnings. Cancelation within 24 hours of the start date*: No refund will be issued for cancelations within 24 hours of the start date. The sitter will keep 100% of their planned earnings. We appreciate your respect for your sitter's time"" I dont see any special clause here
