You also cannot beat the price for the quality of work that was done. They did an amazing job, nothing was left behind or damaged, anything that had to be taken apart was put back together, and they were meticulous with putting it in the right places of my new apartment. They moved furniture, boxes, and every small item in between from 3 different floors of my old space, and were so kind and helpful doing everything at the same time. Ryan and Hank from Down The Road Movers helped load a 15 feet rental truck with all our boxes and items from a 864 SF apartment in Providence. They were supposed to arrive at 8:00am, but due to traffic arrived at 8:30am. They brought their own dollies. Our apartment building has an elevator, but my apartment is a little ways from it. The movers took about 3 and 1/2 hours which I think they could have done it faster, but they did a good job in moving and packing the rental truck. None of the items were lost or damaged. Trent with Down The Road Movers was whom I communicated via e-mail and he was always very responsive. At the end of the job, he called me to inquire how the move went and informed me of the payment. All the things that went wrong: Timeliness (hours late), not packing carefully, and not giving credit/refund for items they destroyed. TV destroyed, end tables chipped, non- removable marks on leather furniture. They left quickly and then I saw the aftermath. Gaslighted, ignored, claimed they would contact their insurer...similar stories others have reported. Shame on them. It's so sad to see how they keep doing this to others. The movers were very nice and showed up on time but they were not professional movers. They did a good job moving everything but unfortunately did some serious damage to the stairwell of my building amounting to 675 dollars of damage to the walls and the stairs. When I contacted them to cover this cost they said it was too far from the move in date (about two weeks) and "couldn't prove" they had done the damage to the stairs. They gave me 220 dollars but I was left responsible for the almost 500 dollars left. This negated any saving I had from hiring them and now I wish I had hired professional movers. read more

These guys moved my mom from Providence to the coast- we were so nervous but they showed up timely, professional, without stress or concern and most importantly, with good vibes! My mom loved them and their great personalities and laughter while they worked put her at ease immediately! I had a move at the end of May, and was super stressed about hiring movers because of how costly they can be and with how much stuff I have, not to mention a third floor walkup to second floor walkup. I was checking out different moving companies and saw Down the Road Movers recommended online. I reached out and when they told me the estimate, I couldn't believe it. I went and booked with them immediately! During the day of the move, there were two movers who helped with my stuff and they were super nice and professional. My dad who was visiting was even talking sports with them! I have a lot of stuff and they wrapped my furniture and were careful with all of it. Genesis, Eddy and Josh were phenomenal. I had a 2nd floor move to a 3rd floor move (no elevators) and they each maintained an incredibly friendly demeanor despite the difficult move. I had no damage to any of my items, and the team were more than happy to help with breaking down larger pieces of furniture (dresser, dining table) and help with re-assembly at the new place. Based on our particular experience, I'd say this a great moving company for those without a lot of expensive and delicate items. The movers were friendly, pleasant, upfront, hard-working, and willing to go above and beyond. They seem to be able to handle cross-state and large moves. The price was very 'competitive,' as is said. (Albeit, per post-pandemic inflation, which seems to have affected most things, moving costs have trebled!) Only thing is that the movers didn't seem especially experienced and well-versed in the ins and outs of logistics, or bring the kind of equipment--ample moving blankets and pads, straps, hand trucks, etc--that a high level moving company would, and therefore I'd be hesitant to entrust them with a move involving more than a small number of unwieldy, precious, must-not-scratch and must-not-dirty items. Maybe just our experience. But generally good, well-meaning, helpful movers, as the other reviews attest. read more

I am never going to move without DTR again!!! They moved us from a fully furnished 2nd floor 3 bedroom with a double parlor to a 1st floor 2 bedroom within 3 1/2 hours. Even though on the morning of our planned date it started pouring rain, they still showed up in the uhaul on the exact time they said they would. They were the most affordable movers in the area, and I was shocked that this included the disassembly and reassembly of 2 ikea bed frames and a couch. I was so worried about taking apart my bed frames because one alone took me 8 hours to build and the wood is easily breakable, but they took both of them apart and put them back together within 45 minutes. It has been about 6 months and they are still perfectly holding. :) They also moved my 75 inch tv down multiple flights of stairs and there was not a single scratch. they made sure nothing was damaged in the rain, even my electronics. I constantly recommend them to our friends, and along with their mission for the community, you cannot get a better deal anywhere. It's been 3 weeks since our move and we are still talking about how we couldn't have done it without Down The Road Movers. At the time of the move I was 6 months pregnant, we have a toddler and it would've been too difficult for my husband to move all of our things in his own. They were super accommodating and understanding. The dissemble and reassemble service was so crucial for us. wish I could give a good review for a company that claims to be community driven but unless you want the risk of your items being damaged and never being fixed spend the money to go with a reputable company. i hired this company back in June of 2023 and now I am out of a 2k tv because the movers broke my tv. now I understand mistakes happen so I informed the manager immediately while the movers were still unloading and was told an insurance claim would be filed, after being ignored for months in November I was told they thought this was handled even though I had sent hundreds of messages and calls. i was then informed an additional claim would be put in but both times no claim number could be provided. now we're in January 2024 and still being ignored. I have waited 6 months to leave any reviews and reach out to anyone to provide the company sufficient time to redeem themselves for this mistake. but due to the disregard of their clients I will never use this company again and will be taking this issue to a further level. so much for a COMMUNITY company. they are criminals and always will be. read more
