Coming to her office was the most uncomfortable experience every time and I would not recommend her to anyone. She is one of the rudest people I have ever met, swore at me multiple times over not wanting to wait for her to print my retainer for an hour. I offered to come back and pick it up and her assistants set up an appontment for the next day but she told me "she is my doctor and what she wants is more important than anything else i have going on and she has final say" and made me sit and wait or she would call the cops on me because my insistance on returning to pick it up was "threatening" even though i asked nicely and explained why i couldn't. I never threatened anyone with anything other than a bad review. Because they had just offered me a starbucks giftcard to leave a good review then revoked their offer after the whole ordeal i had to change my review. she ended up calling the police to tresspass me after holding me hostage for an hour and popping up in my face every 5 minutes to taunt me about not paying me for my review, how shes going to reply to my review with a "story" to get people to ignore my review, and more threats. she said shes had to do that to other patients in the past and the officers are familiar with her practice - its no suprise shes the common demoninator and uses the police as a weapon to manipulate people. I was going to leave out some details. But given her actions I'm going to list my other grievances anyway. U should know how the front desk will call u over 6 times a day to confirm an appointment even if ur busy and ask them to stop calling multiple times. They tried to refund me the incorrect amount of money after refusing to do services that was agreed upon when I joined their practice and tried insisting on holding onto my money until my last appointment for no reason other than shes "terribly busy". They held my mouth hostage and refused to take off the braces until every last payment was made even though the braces themselves were paid off. i had other treatments in my payment plan that i was paying off too. I thought she would be the best because shes a professor in orthodontics but her bedside manner is scary, manipulative, selfish, and aggressive. She should not be working on patients or with students in my opinion. Shes very harsh and barks at adults who are waiting quietly on their phone for her because "having people on their phone during an appointment is distracting and annoying". She is impatient and unwilling to answer any questions u might have about the process or procedure at hand. In fact, she thinks it is insulting to be asked any questions at all about what is happening during an appointment. She demands ur silence, obedience, and full trust without question. She does fine work on teeth, but overall i would've paid 2x to get seen by somebody else. read more

"Beware" I would like to make everyone aware of the situation that happened to me this past Monday , July 12th. Upon arriving everyone was pleasant . Once I went into a separate room with the receptionist that's when the deception started. 1st-Red Flag When I called to make an appointment for braces for my son I was told my down payment for top and bottom would be $540 down.. When I got there I was told $840 down. 2nd-Red Flag. The receptionist told me that my son could only get his top braces because of how expensive the supplies are however If I pay $1,800 down he couid get top and bottom. 3rd-Red flag . The dentist told me that she only recommends everyone getting top braces first then the bottom on your next appointment which is two months later. 4th- Red Flag The receptionist talked about another customers child to me , She said " Quote on Quote" a kid who we did braces on was weird becuase she wanted purple and pink brackets !! She also scolded me for saying that my son wanted black bands . The dentist said that its not about the color its about the braces . If I'm paying $6,000 why can't we make it about the colorful bands and the braces ?? 5th red flag - The receptionist asked me to sign the contract without allowing ne to read it. When i asked to see the contact that I was signing she said okay but I do things a certain way!! I said i cant sign a contract that you will not allow me to read. Once. i read the contact it had tons of hidden fees that I questioned. One was a $100 fee for a sliver membership . When I asked what does the membership entail she said to be able to make an appointment in the morning , I told her that , I'm not interested in paying $100 to make an early appointment. She left and walked away , cane back and said I drive a hard bargin like I was at a car reading the final updated contract . I could not continue to be treated this way so I said that I do t like the service so my son and I will be leaving. I asked to speak to the dentist she never came out , The receptionist asked what did she do wrong , I told her , She gave me a fake apology and Me and my son left. The receptionist cost the company $6,000 !!!! And please If you go here read the contract , Its better places that you can go to that care and wont have all sorts of hidden fees. read more

I found Dr. Meena and her staff very professional and courteous. It is never fun to go to the dentist but they were on time, performed the Invisalign checks and service, explained the treatment, extended the treatment plan because I needed more time and made adjustments after the treatment. I would recommend her and her staff. In the end, I am happy with my new bite and alignment! That is what matters. read more

My son went here 3 years ago for phase one orthopedics and had to wear braces for 3-4 years! Every time my sons apartment was over he would complain how much they would hurt him and how much the braces hurt him. Just today I went to get my sons phase 2 done at a different place and when we told him that we did phase 1 for 3-4 years he was lost for words, he said he has never hear of such a thing and that he usually does 1-1.5 years. Our son completed 18 months of orthodontic care under the expert hands of Dr. Meena Balakrishnan @ Downers Grove Orthodontics. The transformation he underwent during this time was monumental. Our son's jaws and gumline did not develop at the pace required to accommodate his larger permanent teeth that pushed through when he was 8 and 10. Due to the overcrowding, his teeth, on both upper and lower jaws, were twisted and jagged and rendered them practically useless in cutting and chewing food. When he bit into any crunchy (e.g. apples, crackers) or chewey food (e.g. chicken, turkey, steak) the food bits would push down on to his gumline and hurt him. He would resort to breaking such foods into smaller pieces with his hands and use his molars to grind them before swallowing. Considering what we started with, you can see what a transformation it has been. None of this would have been possible without Dr. Meena or her competent staff. I called her office and scheduled the preliminary appointment; during that session Dr. Meena made a few observations, explained the treatment plan, took a mold for the first set of braces, and took a few pictures of my son's mouth for a record of what she was going to start with. At the same time, her office manager (Blanca) explained the coverages under my dental plan, how billing/claims would work, and helped schedule the first appointment for attaching the braces. Once the braces were in, Dr. Meena explained the care he would need to take, daily, to keep food out of the braces and also recommended he avoid certain types of candy and gum for at least a year. We were also required to check-in every 6-8 weeks to assess progress, make necessary adjustments (incl. replacing/upgrading the wires/rubber-bands to increase tension and allow the teeth to align). However, there were a couple instances where not sticking to the regimen (e.g. forgetting to use the rubber-bands) shifted the teeth in a direction that required additional correction. To Dr. Meena's credit, she explained that this is a very common oversight by pre-teens but once they understand the consequence, the required discipline sets in. There were a couple more instances where the brackets that held the wire dislodged from the tooth. This was also expected and was addressed via drop-in session to afix the bracket(s) back to the tooth/teeth. The entire experience was very pleasant for our son and Dr. Meena and her staff made this process as comfortable as possible for him; I will be returning in a year for my daughter's need as well. I recommend her practice to anyone considering orthodontics for their children. read more

The Dr. Is amazing she uses latest treatments and explains the process thoroughly. I had the Davidson treatment and had them on for about 18 months. As an adult the short amount of time was worth it to have a beautiful smile. They always allow you to come in when you have pain to get your wires trimmed if needed. My sons and I are patients here and I don't think I would feel as comfortable at any other office like I do here. read more

Horrendous service!!! They consistently do not communicate with me what the treatment plan is. I was told by the "manager" Wes that the Dr would call to discus why my sons teeth had been over corrected three times and never received a call. They are always late and can't get the job done. We are voluntarily having his braces removed because I would rather have my teeth removed with no anesthesia. Find a back alley ortho, I guarantee they would do a better job then this hack of a doctor. read more

The absolute worst experience of my life. She didn't give me a permanent retainer, made me wait FIVE days for a new one claiming my teeth wouldn't shift, which they did a lot(might as well not even tell people I got braces). Horrible. Dr. Balikrishna is extremely rude to all of her employees, it pains me to watch her scream at them. She was phenomenally kind to me at the beginning of my treatment and once I was done paying her the thousands of dollars, it was very hard to ever make an appointment, anytime I came back she treated me like a piece of dirt, and she was just beyond rude to me at all times. She takes so many patients that she never has time to actually see 90% of them; they are taken care of by her staff. She schedules the appointments so close together that I was almost always waiting about an hour when I should have been done in 15 minutes for a simple tightening. Best place ever. They fix your teeth the right way and as fast as possible. I had an a rather difficult case to fix and it took a total of 2 years. I had braces previously done at another orthodontist and they made my teeth straight but did not correct my overbite. Dr. B and her staff are so pleasant. They are always happy to see you and are smiling. They give you all the tools you need to transform your smile. My 3 siblings have also gone there for their braces. (For one of my siblings it was their 2nd time around with braces too.) I can't say enough good things about DG Orthodontics. Also, I know for Spanish speaking families they have bilingual staff. Seriously if you're going to spend the money it cost for braces it will be more than worth it if you go to DG Ortho!! You can go in for a FREE Consultation.
