We all had ONE michelada at dinner before heading over to this dump. Parking is a b*tch, so be prepared. We walk up, I pass my ID and the door man looks at my husband smugly, and says "no. You guys can't come in here." Confused, thirsty and annoyed I questioned why. He responds by first saying "he tried passing back" keep in mind, im the youngest and I'm 27. No need to pass back, bud. He then says " no actually you didn't walk straight, you staggered" I honestly have no clue what that even means. So I obviously asked what he meant. He then responded, clearly flustered, " listen I'm not telling you not to come. I've been doing this a long time and he's drunk" Wait a minute. He had one michelada prior to coming, and aren't most of your patrons in there getting drunk? I obviously understand the fundamentals here. Normally people that are sloppy cannot come in to avoid being over served. I get that, and agree with it. But this POS was wrong and rude and honestly looked drunk himself. She was also speaking to us like we were random people out the hood and not customers. Like no professional work ethic. Price: for what you get it's over priced. Cups that the beer was served in were dirty and our server was extremely rude and argumentative. After I told him of the residue and crumbs in the cup he accused it of being the food we ate when we hadn't even gotten our food yet. When I confronted him of being argumentative with our party because he was being smart about everything we were telling him he proceeded to say, "that's the way we act here!" No respect for customers at all. We asked for a new server and the new guy stated he was a manager he was great! Wish we would've got names but we didn't. The new server asked what was going on and then a woman who was supposedly the "manager/owner" came up and stated we weren't getting credit for anything very loudly in front of everyone which we were not asking for. The bartenders there did not want to make eye contact with us so they didn't have to serve us. All they had to do was say "we'll be right with you ". I've been coming here for years but today was just horrible! I understood that there was a Dodger game, but the bar was not even packed! Not to mention that most of the people who were watching the game, and were solely drinking beer, were not even sitting in the section that was closed off for the beer/game viewing only. There was a manager who was serving beer and food, and did not even attend to us. We had to ask for a menu, waited 15+ mins, and were not even attended to. I tried to be patient, but their lack of attention to service their customers was completely unacceptable, and it was not understaffed (there were approximately 3 bartenders and 2 to 3 floating servers). My girlfriend and I crossed the street on to La Barca to not only watch the game, but were seated right away, given our drinks timely, and our food was delish. It may have been much more expensive than the food at Downey Brewery, but I'd rather give my money to a restaurant that properly treats their customers. Plenty of beer options and they even have some Angry Orchard for women (and me). On this trip I chose the DBC Hef. It was ice cold and refresthing. The rest of my crew tried other brews and we all liked what we got. We sat at a long booth and that had TVs surrounding it. You could pick the channel, so that is very convenient.
