I came here for some help and the owner or the one in charge of the shop. Older gentleman gave me a bunch of run around trying to smog my BMW I eight he then made me take off some covers and screws and things like that and then decided after that he did not want to smog it because I need to go to the dealer, I went to Downey fast pass just down the road within 10 minutes he was able to get a smog no issues everything legit 50 bucks and they were very friendly, do yourself a favor go to Downey fast pass on Woodruff. Sal the smog guy is so rude! He will scream at you for your paper work. Will make up anything just to get the most money out of you. The Owner is another rude person who gets mad cause i refused to buy their parts! He FAILED my smog because I didn't buy what he asked.. i then told him i was going to write my yelp review and right away he offered the part for "free" I still said no, and he immediately said " OK FINE, PAY ME AND GO " They kept my money and failed the smog test cause i refused to buy a simple " gas cap " when no check engine light was on. DON'T DO SMOG CHECK IN THIS PLACE!!!! Do yourself a favor, don't waste your time and money in this place. They only give "10" days to retest if it fails, how I can drive my car "100" miles with in 10 days for no charge fees for retest? it is imposible. Go somewhere outs and ask first for free retest time frame, I did, most places give 5 months to run100 miles first before get retest and by the way not to mention the most rude person who does the smog check. read more

Sal the technician is a real asshole. Started the conversation with. "I need your papers work now! You know the paperwork that tell you that you need a smog check". I had called in 30 minutes before to confirm that the coupon I had for $29.75 was valid. He ask me what kind of car I had and ensured the coupon was valid. But when I showed up. He wrote me up for $80. I reminded him that I have a coupon and he said it's not valid for my car. Not sure what it is about my car that would make it not valid. He is a real piece of work this guy! Sal, the technician, is very kind and helpful. I called for a quote back in June 2020 and Sal told me the complete price for Smog test and Certificate so I could renew my car registration. I have been coming to this Arco Star Station since 2012. Mike was one of the previous technicians, then, another gentleman, then, Sal was there in 2020. I got there and there were no other customers so my car was immediately tested. The entire process was completed in 15 minutes, super fast and I could pay with my credit card (no extra fee). I really appreciate the convenience and efficiency. It is June 2022, I need to get another Smog Certificate from a Star Station. The gentleman who answered was very polite, he told me to call tomorrow before 5pm because the station closes at 5pm, it opens tomorrow at 8am. read more

They do more than just smog checks. Yes, they do abide by smog check rules but if you are not going for a smog check you can fill up on gas or get a oil & filter change. They do not do tune-ups I was told but reccomended a nearby place. I came here in May and I recieved a smog check, passed and was on my merry way. They guys were freindly and straight forward. Johnny helped me out and was very cool. I plan to come back here in a couple of years for my next smog check. read more

The guy (hassan) is nice but he wasn't very knowledgeable the first time my car legitimately failed due to dieing cat. After getting it all fixed and pretested from a certified mechanic I went back for free retest (not free). The guy seemed upset that I didn't go to one of his suggested mechanics. My car passed on all points except timing which he did improperly because he didn't go under the dash to bridge the connector. I went back to mechanic checked timing everything was dead on. I went back to smog guy he refused to retest without charging me full price (I was willing to pay retest). Even though I showed him pretests and timing. I ended up going else where (I recommend Artesia smog they are nicer) recommended by my mechanic and I got a discount I've heard of some people liking this guy but I'm now on the long list of people that don't. I got a diesel smog check today for my 2011 VW Golf. Got a no nonsense quote over the phone, and no monkey business when I got there. The last place I went to soaked me for $95!! I got my car smoged here a couple weeks ago, I knew that piece of junk was going to fail but it's fine because when it did he referred me to a great mechanic that fixed it for my without delay. i went to this place and hopping it would be as easy as 123 but the smog tech that took care of my car he's not as pleasant as the one i talked befor i went ther.a day befor my car was checked to this center i got my battery replaced and the smog tech told me that my computer was not ready and told me i have to drive my car for 100 plus miles for the sensors to be ready. so i drove my car for 125 miles then i return to this center and hopping to get it done.. early morning i went there and same guy who told me to drive my car for a 100 miles. so he asked me to drive my car to the ramp when i was about to go to my car he was pissed because i went to the wrong way to get my car and start yelling at me NOT THERE YOU TO GO AROUND!!! i was shock but i stay calm and cool about it so hooked up my car and guess what he told me again to to drive my car for another 100 to 150 miles cause the computer is not ready.. and fail my car on the test so i wasted my time,gas,money and milage already so i decided to go to another smog center and guess what it didn't took them 30mins to run my car and test it and here's the thing my car passed the test.. with flying colors. so if you guys want a good costumer service and not want to be yelled at and not experience what i've been thru with this center i wouldn't advice for you to go to this place and have your car tested it's just a waste of TIME,MONEY,GAS,MILEAGE and get yelled at not worth it.. read more
