    Strawberry pecan salad with chicken

Excellent find in Artesia! Says they were known for their burgers and I can see why. My dad and I enjoyed the smash burger with crispy bacon. Nice and juicy. Both went with sweet potato fries. Just right cook on them. Ann loved her strawberry pecan salad with an addition of grilled chicken that was super flavorful and juicy. Dad also tried a flight of beers for the first time. Made notes for future visits so I think he is sold on trying brew buns and flights again. Our server, Kimberly, was very attentive and patient explaining how flights work for my dad. She made great selection for him.

We stopped in on a Tuesday evening about 5:45 pm. We were unsure if they were open because there were no outdoor lights on (they have cute signage but maybe it was too early to be lit up??). They have a nice looking menu and so many nice choices - I selected a BLTA sandwich with sweet potato fries and my husband ordered the chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes and we split an order of the Mac n cheese. We did spot "beef tips" on the menu but were nervous because some places serve too fatty meat ... but once we got our food we feel confident that we'll order those next time. Our meals were DELICIOUS! The service was a good pace - not speedy but perfect for a date night. The ambiance was nice and the waitress was very polite. We were so impressed with dinner that although we took some of it home we decided to order a dessert - it was between the peach cobbler and hot fudge brownie - I swear they made it fresh while we waited. Super fresh and decadent ... I wish the pic could convey that. This place is a foodies must visit!

I love this place! Great little brew pub with good country, comfort food. Be sure to try the chicken fried steak and the shred red NM style enchiladas with green chile on the side or "Christmas style". Be sure to say to the proprietor Emily as she ensures you'll have great service. I never go through Artesia w/o a stop at the Wellhead. Classic SE NM Permian Basin stop, and remember to be respectful of the Federal Agents being trained at FLETC (Federal Law Enforcement Training Center) as I'm pretty sure every Federal agent that had been trained in the last two dozen years has been to Artesia and most have been to the Wellhead.

Service was good. Fried green chiles were delicious. I thought the indian wheat was good... clovey. My husband loved the stout.

Nice big piece of fish on fish and chips. But not enough tarter sauce, so they charge an extra $2 to have enough tarter to eat it with!

One of the pizzas we ate at the hotel and one we ended up taking with us to Carlsbad Caverns the next day and eating as a picnic lunch which was so fun! Both fresh and as leftovers, the pizzas were very good. We also indulged in a couple of IPAs/ Pale Ales as we waited. All of which hit the spot. The place was PACKED! But the line went by quickly and waiting for food was easy enough. There seemed to be a bountiful amount of seating.

I can honestly say I could drink their brews daily as there is a wide range of IPA to almost Pils which should satisfy most folks. Beer = damn good! Ambiance is nice but simple. I can see that there might be a vision for branding and a local guitarist setting the tone. I'm all for it! It's a good idea but needs more application. Here's the problem: The service and wait times are very bad. Not the worst I've had, but it will 100% take you 30+ minutes to get a pizza plus wait time in line. To me, that is absolutely unacceptable. I don't have a problem with queuing in line for food and drinks but the speed needs to increase just to adhere to the vibe GMBC is trying to create; a Guadalupe Mountain Brewery that focuses on food, family, and beer. About the pizza, promising an open mind here, it's ok. Again, an oasis in a Domino's wasteland. But Dominos fully cooks their pizzas. I am 100% a pizza snob. I give these pies 2.5/5. Far too many toppings and a pale crust. Less toppings, more heat, more experience from the BOH staff. The pies are not cooked long enough as the cheese is clumpy and uneven and the toppings (veggies mainly) are huge, undercooked and the pizza was served nearly cold! Great portions but poor bake as they prioritize "speed" over making a good pizza. If you have never had a delicious slice, this is a solid step in the right direction. If you are used to professionals creating quality food, you will be disappointed. Still, don't shy away from this brewery as you can have a good (quite long) time as the beers are fairly priced and food will satisfy you. Absolutely throwing shade to the queso which is just canned Queso brand with crappy chips. I might add that the queso came with a hair in it but was slowly rectified by a server that I had to flag down. Ultimately, why should I wait so long in line for food that is minimum standard and is amateurish? Because I'm in Carlsbad, NM and there isn't competition to incentivize this place to be better. I want them to be better because I plan on making this a solid pit stop in the future. Keep up the good work, but continue to improve.

Called inquiring about reservations, told it's first come first serve and I should expect about a 15-20 min wait. Showed up, 3 adults w/ 3 kids at 5:30. Was told I was the 2nd name behind an 11 top, and should be able to be seated in 5 min due to a few tables just waiting to be cleared upstairs. 20 mins later I watched them clear a 6 top at the front door downstairs, then split it so they could seat two tables of 4 who had shown up after my family. After waiting another 10 min I asked about how long we were looking at, the woman at the door told me she would go upstairs and check on the table, she returned to inform me that I was now looking at probably 20 min before we could be seated. We left... I don't know if the elderly woman working as a hostess at the door is an owner, a wife, family friend, or simply a pity hire due to her old age, but she has no business working customer service at a restaurant. She lied to me and several other groups about wait times, and seating availability only to double down several times about how soon we will be seated. She obviously has zero idea about how food service works, customer service relations, or kitchen service/food service times. Side note: an obviously drunk group of six made their way in during my wait, the bartender had no issue serving them, fingers crossed they weren't driving home, but I doubt anyone is that lucky.
