They could not help me repair my CD player in my jukebox and they do not answer their phone.

I called Matt to look at an old Williams Pennant Fever, pitch/bat pinball machine that I have had for over 5 years, I bought it at company liquidation sale in non-working condition, I was told it had battery acid damage on the main CPU board, I run a company that works with PCB's and had an engineer here attempt to fix it awhile back without any luck. I've seen other reviewers admit to Matt being a little difficult to reach at first - my advice is to first and foremost contact him through the form on his site and resort to phone as a fallback option. I had little trouble personally. He was very prompt and on-time in regards to when he said that he'd be at the house to check out my game. After troubleshooting the simple stuff, he took my monitor neck board with him to repair and was back within the business week with everything repaired. Also took the time to run through everything else on my cab to make sure things were in good condition. Very fair pricing! Friendly service. Quick turnaround. Great worksmanship. Know upftont that this tech does not do monitor repair, nor does he appear to do advanced troubleshooting or bench work... so unless your issue is a very simple and obvious problem like fuses or unseated connectors/chips -- which you can fix yourself if you have neurons -- you are totally wasting your money. I paid $150 for him to "repair" my jukebox that had been acting up. He arrives, turns it on, squirts 3-in-1 oil on the mechanism and says that's all he needs to do! Pretty sure a part is faulty and needs to be replaced, but he didn't do anything but jiggle the arm and add more oil (also, the gears require graphite-based grease, not oil). I asked him to please thoroughly test it and he shuffled through a few songs. Since there was still 20 minutes of my $150 hour remaining I asked him to look at a video photo booth I had that was also acting up. Turn it on and says monitor needs work. I know that. What exactly is the problem? He then refers me to P&L, which is the level of tech advice that a friend would give for free. You think it's the caps? He has no idea and says he can't troubleshoot the monitor. I also showed him the printer paper had come out and asked if he could rethread it. No, he doesn't know that mechanism. I finally give up asking him to do anything else as it's become clear I know nearly as much as he does and he leaves when the hour is up. I put some songs on the jukebox and of course the third one gets stuck after playing, which is exactly what I told him had been happening and why I wanted him to properly test it before leaving. He came back and squirted some more oil on it. Lol. Jukebox is still acting up. I'm giving him two stars because he showed up on time and is a nice guy, but there are much more effective and knowledgeable techs in LA and at that price level you deserve someone who will actually fix your machines, not tell you that they're broken. read more

Horrible experience! Matt's lack of professionalism and communication skills are appalling! It took him 6 weeks to find the part for my pinball machine, when he promised to get it in 2. He never provided me with a courtesy call to inform me about the delay, and I actually had to call him to find out the status a month later! Matt showed up to my house late the first time, and the second visit, he never bothered to communicate with me about being incredibly late for the second time. The kid really needs to take Business communication and human relations courses if he really wants to thrive in his business, because the kind of expertise that he supposedly has is rare nowadays. We have a 4-player Konami X-Men arcade cabinet that movers moved from SF to LA for us. Along the way, the power cord got sheared off. My husband was pretty upset that had happened and I wanted to get it fixed for him as a surprise. I will admit Matt was hard to get a hold of initially, but as soon as I got hold of him on the phone, the whole process was smooth and the machine is now fixed! This was all within 2 days. He also ran a check on it and pointed out a few things that would likely require our attention in the future. I found his rate really reasonable for a house call as well. Matt got it done. Fixed my cocktail table's v-hold issues. And showed me how to fix it myself. Also showed me where the volume control is on the thing. And then he fixed my PC based MAME cabinet. He quickly identified that the CMOS battery had died. Replaced it. And then reconfigured the ROM folder and button/keyboard bindings that had been thrown off. Wow. 90 minutes of awesome. I'll start this review off by saying I was an hour late to our appointment. I was in contact with him the whole time to let them know my ETA and apologize profusely. Matt And I spoke over the phone I sent him pic and video of problem. He quoted me 150 to Diagnose the problem. I thought that was ridiculously high with no guarantees of actually fixing or finding problem. I let them know where I was at financially and We agreed on 50 dollars for him to look. The way he handled the boards as though he had no care for how old are fragile they are. He took the whole PCB board apart with all the different mounts and screws. Was here probably 45 minutes couldn't figure out the problem said the board was bad after I told him I think the board is bad. Started trying to talk his way out of putting my machine back together and I asked him to please make it whole and that I have the $50 for him. Glad I didn't pay 150 He left three screws and about four mounts just sitting on top of the case he half assed put the machine back together with out care... saying that I would have to do it anyways. All around just a bad experience and situation I'm out 50 bucks. Def a mistake on my part. I'm sorry I was late but I don't appreciate the way you treated my machine. I would use some one else in the future. I had to write a review man after not putting my machine back together. You didn't have to take it that much apart. If it was a time issue doesn't explain why you threw around my hardware. read more

This guy is as unprofessional as they come. He has absolutely horrible communication skills. I had to leave several messages and call numerous times before I got a hold of him (he never actually called me back). It took him two weeks to reply to me after I supplied him the requested information. He changed the appointment we had twice. I left work early to meet him at the revised and agreed upon time only to have him send me a one line email an hour before saying we'd have to reschedule. To this I sent an email explaining how I took off early to meet him and that it wasn't professional to cancel with less than an hour, and have received no response or communication ever since. We contacted Downtown Arcade about having two of our arcade machines serviced. One was an easy fix, the other had a monitor that needed some parts replaced. Once installed, the $250.00 fix lasted for a day. We contacted Downtown Arcade but weren't offered any resolution, no "I am sorry, let's schedule a time when we can come back and fix that for you". We were instead directed to take our machine to PNL Inc, the vendor that actually supplied the replacement parts for Downtown Arcade. So we put the machine on a trailer and took it to PNL Inc. PNL fixed it after waiting a couple of hours. Next time we will just be taking any of our machines in the area straight to PNL for any service. read more

I've been a customer for Matt for about 3 years. He's been able to fix all my arcades in one visit, especially those over 30 years old with monitor issues. Just about every electronic place I've called does not fix or even touch crt monitors these days. Not only does he know his stuff, but I've learned quite a bit by watching him work, which makes it very useful to me as a collector the 80's classics. We have an older Arcade and out of nowhere stopped working. Found this company on the internet and called. Matt answered the phone and we were able to schedule an appointment for the same day. He had jobs around my location so he was able to squeeze me in. I was already very happy.:) Then he called me and asked if he can come earlier.Hooray!!!! He already got the stars from me. He diagnosed the machine in less than 5 minutes and fixed it as well in no time and made sure it worked. He was friendly, professional, honest, precise, fast, reliable and fixed it. He did not charge me any extra or tried to over charge me with some B.S. He left his working area clean and put back the game where it was. If I could give this so called business a zero star review I would. I called and talk to the "arcade technician" . He explained that he would show up, diagnose and try to repair my arcade machine . He showed up the next day and within 15 minutes of arriving he explained that my arcade machine monitors didn't work which I already knew. And that is why I called him in the first place. He then gave me no reason or solution to my problem , but told me that I can Frankenstein my arcade which I didn't want to do. He again told me that it was broken and he charged me $150.00 for the service call . In no shape or form did he say that the $150 would go to the repair of the machine. And he didn't try to do any kind of repairs on the spot . He then persuaded me to check the motherboard of my arcade so he took it with him to check it. He then took the motherboard and held it hostage for 3 weeks . I tried calling and he wouldn't answer my calls or my text until 3 weeks after he took the board and explained he was on vacation. Overall this was not a good experience doing business with this company . And my arcade is still out of service. read more

On Monday while preparing for a party on Wednesday afternoon I found out our pinball machine wasn't coming on all the way. I called Matt who said he needed to check his calendar and to send him an email with all my information so he could find a time slot to get out to my house. He emailed me a 6:20 to let me know he would be by at 12:30 on Tuesday, he arrived at 12:20 found a lose wire right away that lead to a blown fused that was caused by a defective switch for the display. He didn't have the part on hand but said he would be back between 4 - 5 after two other service calls with the part. He arrived at 5pm, replaced the part, then checked all the lights, bumpers, changed the batteries, and cleaned the machine. He then gave me some helpful maintenance suggestions and was done. He was helpful and timely, I'm a happy customer. read more
