This Downtown Benny's Pizza location is great for SCW and I. It's located off of Jensen Beach Blvd close to US 1. The service here is always good. Usually we stop in for a couple slices of pizza to go. My favorite is the grandmas which is delicious. It has the perfect sauce to cheese ratio with the perfectly cooked crust. Not soggy, not burnt, with a little bit of crisp on the bottom. They really know how to cook their pizzas here. I enjoy the quality ingredients that they use. The cheese isn't too salty or rubbery like some pizza places nearby tend to use. It's nice and creamy with a great texture. The tomato sauce is also outstanding. Just the right amount of sweet, the right amount of tang makes Downtown Benny's our go to for pizza. The only drawback is we've been here a few times when they are supposed to be open but they are closed. No real rhyme or reason to it, so that can be frustrating. However if you want good quality pizza give Downtown Benny's a try.

We sat at the bar awaiting dinner seating. The bartender literally did not say hello and stood mute in front of us...then said, " Do you want a drink?" Unceremoniously, he served my husband a small- glassed flat vodka soda. My husband very politely said to a new craggly bartender, I'm sorry to have to say, but this is flat." She met that with pursed lips and with disdain said, 'Well it all comes from the same system ." After a beat, "Are you going to oder something else?" That something else was slid over to him with rather a thud. No more words. So, we left without any more ordering or food. Then! Happy days! We found the cutest, most charming little Italian restaurant. The decor and the lovely hostess welcomed us with smiles as did a delightful, professional, and most personable, waiter who suggested a table I would feel warmest at ( no one else is cold-- always me!). We got outstanding egglant dishes..outstanding! The sauce was Nonna-perfect! The eggplant tender, not mushy whatsoever. The sauce, the best! The included -garlic bread, to die for, and the inclu- dinner salad, fresh and crisp with a light balsamic dressing. Portions were for kings! We were so impressed we talked with the owner, Giuseppi to gush! He introduced us to Nonna, herself ! ( Suzi), his daughter, Dianna and his son, our wonderful, delightful waiter, Sebastiano--! He pointed to a picture of his father, Luigi, ( Gigi) telling us his father and mother decades ago opened their first Gigi's in Canada before moving to Fl where they opened this Gigi's. The pride he deserves for the authentic cuisine is rivaled only by the pride of his family! What a 'night and day' evening we had! My husand usu eschews Italian dining bc nothing usu compares to his or his mother's. This did. ( Maybe better...don't tell.)

The service was great when it came, but there were long gaps between and the lady in the kitchen noticed and would spur the waitstaff into action. The place is on the smaller side, dark and very old fashioned, which are great features for a classic Italian restaurant in my opinion. It was like eating at one of the little neighborhood restaurants in NY. My negatives are the spotty service, the servers were 25 feet away and didn't seem to care to give a glance. My iced tea was made with tap water... Unfiltered and tasted horrible. Finally, the restaurant is cash only. Yes, they do offer alternative ways to pay such as Cashapp, Apple Pay, Zelle, etc, which l felt was a bit unusual. In closing, the food was great! Tasty and well made. Tap water to paying customers!? Service is service, some times it's great and sometimes it's not. The cash only thing did take me by surprise.

Located in a small shopping plaza, we probably drove by over a hundred times over the years and didn't even realize Nonna's was here. We were seated at a "bar table" overlooking the kitchen. This gave us the opportunity to look at everything people ordered. After ordering some great priced drinks we started with a Margarita Pizza. Really good with the "pure" taste I've experienced from better places in Chicago, New York and even Italy. The basil, tomatoes and cheese were tasted separately but came together so nicely. The crust was really good as well. We also ordered "zesty herb roasted chicken wings". They were good and had a nice flavor from the chili spices. Nonna's was packed but the service was excellent. We really have to also try Nonna's for dinner sometime. All I can say is "so many restaurants, so little time.

The last four or five 'highly recommended" Italian restaurants in the Jensen Beach/Stuart area we tried were OK to even pretty good but not at all memorable or begging another visit so we always went back to our favorite. Felt a little guilty coming here but WOW-we were blown away. We ate here twice before writing this review because I wanted to make sure our first visit wasn't a fluke. On the first visit my wife ordered Shrimp Linguine Fradiavolo which was a generous portion of shrimp over linguine with a wonderfully spicy marinara sauce. (She let me try it). I ordered Gnocchi Sorrentina which I customized to my preferences. Substituted marinara for meat sauce and added some charred Italian sausage. Probably the best gnocchi I've ever had. Portions of both dishes were large enough to take back to enjoy for lunch the next day. On our second visit, my wife had Spaghetti Al Pomodoro and I tried Veal Marsala. Both were north of wonderful! During both visits we also enjoyed fresh garlic bread. Uncle Guiseppe's is busy and noisy. Service is so good you don't notice the "busy" once you're seated. This was our best restaurant find this trip.

I have rated ALL of the other locations no less than 4 stars. The scene: Sunday evening with another couple. Arrived 15 minutes before the end of happy hour. The place was not crowded. The bartender/server/official apologizer took drink orders and a smoked fish dip starter. The dip arrived with drinks, including an unexplained cloudy draft beer. The dip was just meh- nothing special. Nothing made in house. The jalapeño slices and pepperoncini were standard and the packaged crackers were broken. It was 6:10 when our orders were taken. The place was starting to clear out but we noticed a large number of take out orders being picked up from food deliveries. Could this be causing our delay in getting our food? Our fish dip plate was never bused. We were finally offered a refresh of drinks. I asked for an iced tea. Nope. The machine was down. Another apology. About 7pm the manager/chef dashed out and...apologized for the delay. Said the kitchen was getting slammed. Yes, from the take out orders! Maybe they should take care of the seated diners first and give a realistic wait delivery time to the call in orders. Oh, and the manager....apologized....and said they couldn't serve the chicken piccata special because they were out of the egg wash. Read THAT again. Egg wash is eggs and water or maybe milk. It's a simple recipe. And. they. were. out. Our eye rolls made clicking sounds like a doll's eye sockets. By 7:35 our entrees arrived. Not with jubilation but with that sickening feeling you get when the doctor re-enters your exam room without a smile. My entree was cold. Another's burger was undercooked and came with the wrong side. The piccata replacement of fish tacos was okay and I forgot what the other entree was because too much time had passed. The bartender/server suggested dessert like she knew our answer. 8:00pm we paid a slightly reduced bill, bumped into some Door Dash guys and left very disappointed. Oh, the one star is for the ambiance: in the old Jensen Beach Hotel. Summary: Not THIS location.
