I got to attend the Red Velvet Burlesque show which was part of the Bridgeport Art Trail. The show was sexy and sultry. The venue was a comfortable size with tables that sat four. They encourage you to BYO for drinks and food which was a nice concept with the current inflation. They did have a small concession stand that sold popcorn, candy, coffee and sodas. We enjoyed the show and felt comfortable in the performance space. This venue has no parking lot. You need to street park or pay for garage parking. read more

I LOVE this theatre. I wish I didn't live 15 hours away! The actors were fun and engaging of the audience, the staff (mainly volunteers, I assume) were happy, friendly and helpful, and the venue was very comfortable and welcoming. There is free parking and I love that you can take your own food and beverage. They even give you a trash bag to take all your trash away (back to your own trash bins, that is). You're gonna love this place. I came here to see The Full Monty and left knowing I'd audition for Mamma Mia. The venue is an old theater with tons of history. It's well kept, the staff is super nice, and the theater is just beautiful. It's not your typical community theater. The stage is akin to any professional stage you've seen. The lighting is so up to date, I was in awe. It's a BYO event so you can bring food and drinks in and eat/nosh while you watch a show. They even have a snack bar where you can get refreshments, popcorn, candy, etc. Full disclosure: I did audition for Mamma Mia and was cast in the show. It's one of my all time favorites and, if you love theater, you'll love this place. I absolutely adore DTC! We have been coming here for years and I'm so happy to see more productions coming back. When my kids were young, we had a subscription to the Children's series. Now that they are grown, we all enjoy the main theater productions. I've never been disappointed! We saw RENT this week and it was wonderful. DTC is one of the best venues for a date night, a family outing, a girls night out or a corporate event. You can't go wrong!! read more

This is such a cool place. I've been here many times. The thing is Broadway shows in New York cost so much nowadays that this is a lovely option to have and they do a great job here. You can bring your own food which I love and they have some awesome shows here. It's a great place to come. It's this close to New York City Broadway as you can get and I don't think I've ever been let down in the show here. The lobby is lovely and the staff are quite professional. The Downtown Cabaret theatre is Bridgeport is great. Not well known small community theater. Children's Theater in the afternoons and some Adult theater at night. I have seen several children's productions, always well done with modern songs and some humor for the adults. Saw Rent and Mamma Mia on the Main stage and enjoyed them both. Have not done any of the concerts. Love that it is BYO Cabaret Style, works on great for larger groups and Pot Luck. read more

A Bridgeport gem. We visited the children's theater and had a wonderful time! The theater is cozy with plenty of table seating (no bad seat in the house). We were able to bring our snacks and refreshments to the establishment which made it even more fun. The staff at the theater were all very helpful and children friendly. Our grand babies (6 & 3) has a blast and every child there seemed to enjoy themselves. The show we saw was Dracula goes to High School and it was a wonderful production with great music and content for the kids. What a wonderful time we had. Already looking forward to the next production. The actors brought all the children up at the end of the show for a Halloween costume contest and it was so cute to see the kids participate. I know we will definitely go back and not just for the kids show. read more

Great little theatre in Bridgeport. My daughter and I visit frequently as their children theatre is excellent. Pack or buy a lunch and enjoy a great play. They recently remodeled the theater. There are adult shows as well but I seem to always find myself there with my 12 year old. We've been going since she was 5 and it's always a treat. There's a morning, afternoon and ending shows. Kids get the opportunity to meet the cast after the show to take picks and get autographs. Parking is not an issue. You can park on the street or pay $2-3 to park in the lot across the street. There are several local pizza places that delivers. Some have partnered with the theatre and will give additional discount. read more

Another great night at the cabaret. What a great venue- we have seen several shows here and have never been disappointed. It is great to sample some of Bridgeport's great restaurants but get your food and booze to go. Have a great take out dinner while you watch a great show. The staff are always nice the place is clean. The tables are large enough to spread out a nice dinner for everyone at your table to enjoy. Best to go with a group of 4 to 7. I think the biggest tables seat 7. You can get a table for two but it is such a great place for a group. For dinner I recommend either Joseph's steakhouse which is a short walk from the cabaret or Ralph and Rich's a great Italian place in town. But even a nice pizza and a bottle of wine will do. They are ok with small coolers for your BYOB. read more

I went here on a Saturday night to see 'To Kill a Mockingbird'. It was an interesting play with a very talented cast. The $25 ticket was inexpensive and I was at a table near the stage. They let people bring food and beverages (B.Y.O.B). In addition, they sell snacks and drinks there. There is a parking lot across the street from the theatre, which costs $3, and there is street parking. read more

Great little theatre. Its older and has some signs of decay however, the acoustics are great and the stage is visible no matter which table your at. You can bring your own food and drinks including wine and beer. It's a fun low key atmosphere and the shows are really good. read more

The show was terrific as well as most of the staff. Unfortunately the woman in charge of group sales is aggressive and unprofessional. She was continuously rude to me when trying to plan a field trip and even rude on the way out of the theater to another teacher. If not for her I would have given the theater 5 stars. read more

Never had a bad time at this little gem in downtown Bridgeport. It's across from City Hall and just a block from the police station. Safe and secure parking. Just saw Robin Hood with the kids. We loved it so much we went back the next weekend. Even funnier the second time around because it was so packed with sight gags and physical comedy that we missed some the first time. Hilarious. Can't wait to take them to see Aladdin this month. We love bringing our own snacks and not paying $10 for pop corn like at the movies around here.
