We went to see a production of Willy Wonka and learned that the theater is one of the oldest working theater in America. The theatre has table seating, high chairs and theater seating as well. This is a great little theater in Bridgeport! I love the seating, the lighting was good, the stage every seat has a good view, we skipped drinks but others were happy with them. We did have popcorn it was delish, but I'm a popcorn fan. The theater has a parking garage almost directly across the street and it was secure, huge plus in Bridgeport. We would come for another event for sure. read more

Bridgeport has been trying to change downtown around for the better. It was my 1st time @ the Bijou theater. It had comfortable seats & bigger than most theaters. I came for the Shipwreck Saloon Experience. It was ok. You get 4 cocktails & actors tell pirate stories.The bathrooms were really clean in this theater. I would def come back if there's another event I would attend. I didn't get any food so I really don't know how the theaters service is. Maybe next time. read more

I recently attended an event at the Bijou in Bridgeport. I was pleasantly surprised at how beautiful this venue was. I cannot speak to what it was prior to the new owner, Louie Zayas, taking charge (purchased early in 2023) but I read that a lot of work was done to restore the interior of the building. His hard work shines throughout! With both theater seating, and cabaret table seating (as well as a couple VIP booths), there is not a bad seat in the house! This isn't a BYO food or drink house, but do they sell snacks, and have a well stocked cash bar. There is a parking garage (that only accepts credit card payment) literally right across the street so no worries there. In looking at the Bijou website, I see all kinds of entertainment happening there! I look forward to going back! read more

Nice little theater with row seating in the middle and table seating on the sides. Not a bad seat in the house. The theatre was great. The show I saw there, on the other hand, was horrible. "Nothing Up My Sleeves" was a one man magic show with no entertainment value at all. The patter was horrendous. The presentation was horrendous. The whole production was laughable. Just wanted to sleep. The magician should work more with children and animals, as the only entertaining moment was the little girl Abagail picked from the audience to assist with a card trick. The audience howled with laughter when she went to pick up a piece of the torn envelope from across the stage. There is no way MSG has to worry about getting sold out. 1st time here last night! Beautiful little venue! I love the fact that it is so historic. Little snack bar right inside the door across from the box office. Mixed drinks, beer & wine also served. Lovely theater, good shows & reasonably priced. Sadly, the venue has some rules which are meaningless & no rules where there should be. For example, if you purchase 2 tickets & pick up at will the call with proper ID, only one ticket is released if both people are not at the window. When you finally get both tickets, you are hawked by the hostess who practically stops you from going to your seats. Yet, patrons are allowed to pretty much do whatever they want once the show starts like go to the front of the theater & dance, thus preventing people in the center section from seeing. And then there are the "whistlers." Really!! This should be prohibited. At a recent show,we were upstairs in an seating area for 12. The guy in back of me whistled loudly as loud as he could through the entire performance. Such poor behavior & manners! Do these whistlers realize that their ignorance causes real damage to eardrums? Does the theater care? Apparently only before the show starts. Once it starts, anything goes. How about a few rules during the performance theater management? I would think all patrons have an equal right to see the show. I will not be back. I thought the upstairs was the answer to the dancers. Then the whistler appeared. read more

Also a very nice Italian restaurant across the street to enjoy something to eat before the show. I've been told that the Bijou is the oldest Theatre in the country! Great space; its half-complete restoration hinted at awesomeness for what seemed like forever, and now that it's open, it totally delivers. Tasteful, unique, friendly. I'm sure I'll be back plenty of times. With this huge puzzle piece now in place, the shape of the Bijou Square project in downtown Bridgeport crystallizes even further. Big City of Dreams! This is a terrific place.... We went for the first time on Saturday to see the Oscar Nominated Shorts. What a great choice to show. A full bar, restaurant seating ,and table service all in a lovely intimate redone 1930's theater. Or traditional movie house seats, if you like. The staff was warm, interactive and charming. If you are a friendly and social movie buff, you must try this place..... We will be back soon. read more

Love, love, love! The Bijou's excellent staff, amazing renovation, great lineup of films and events, full bar and concession stand make for the area's premier dinner theatre experience. They'll soon be offering the ability to order tapas directly from Bare (under renovation as of Sept. 2011) next door, which I'm sure will make this THE place for your first date or special gatherings with friends and family. read more

What a cool venue. Was our first time there and thought we'd come back for some music in the future. Unfortunately had a really bad experience with theatre goers which turned me off to consider coming back. Was watching Saving Private Ryan for free after making a donation to Memory Box charity. There were 2 guys sitting a few rows behind us and to the left who would not stop talking. It was mainly he guy on the left who was talking pretty much from the very beginning. I did the look over a couple of times and finally just turned around and asked them why they were even there as they had been talking the entire time. So the response from the one guy was profanity and verbal abuse. I got up to complain to the management. I spoke with someone at the bar who texted the owner and while my husband was ready to leave I wanted to wait to let the owner know what had happened. The woman at the bar suggested we go up to the VIP balcony and the owner would come up there whenever he returned. The owner finally came and when we told him what happened he offered us snacks. We watched the movie but left early for fear of running into these miscreants again as their behavior was never addressed or were they asked to leave. Just an FYI they both came from the sign shop down the street. I saw them walk over as my husband and I were killing time walking around the neighborhood. Cute venue but didn't feel supported as a customer and will not return. read more

Had a great time at a charity event. Great design for this venue. Our only complaint is that as people enter and heat up the space, the temperature gets a bit high. There should be better temperature control/movement of air once the place fills up. A wonderfully restored theater. read more

This is one of the coolest places I've been to in a while!! Saw a great band, Tramps Like Us, with some great friends!!! Have been there for several...elegant, comfortable, just the right size and the acoustics are perfect for live or recorded music. Awesome! venue. Went for the first time this past Saturday night to hear Steve Dagostino and Mia Fanali band. Wow... what a show and what a place. It is an old theatre that has been refurbished. And theyd did a great job. Nice lobby, friendly staff and a total class act. Only thing is it was hard to park. They have not lot. A garage across the street that needs a guard. Or they should have valet service. The acts were great. Steve and his band came on first and did a set of classics from the American Songbook. This guy can sing! I heard him once before but in this type of atmostphere it was a real treat. He does it all. Sintara, Bobby Darin etc. I thought I was in Las Vegas seeing a headline entertainer. He knew how to work the crowd. Very professional. Wish he played longer. Then intemission. Drinks were a little watered down but reasonably priced. Second act. Totally different style music. Orignal songs that I never heard before but this girl had a great voice and the band was high powered. Wish she did a mix like half her tunes and half tunes I've heard of. I think these two shoud have done their own shows. Maybe next time. Overall, I will be back.. great place and I don't have to travel to NY to see good entertainment. read more
